I am a military retiree and career changer in my mid 50's. I have a bachelor's degree and have completed several MyComputerCareer programs. I'm still having issues landing high-paying roles or getting hired by organizations where I can move up. After finding and watching this episode, I'm all in on Yellow Tail Tech. I've accessed the website to learn more and booked a call. Although this is the first episode I've watched, it gave me a reason to subscribe to cuSTEM Journeys. I hope Yellow Tail Tech offers virtual training so I can attend from Texas and cuSTEM Journeys brings them back.

I think tech is a great career, otherwise I wouldn't have been in it for almost 20 years. With that said, I think the lifestyle that accompanies tech is a bit toxic. Late/long hours, weekends/on-call, production "support", sitting all day leads to back and neck issues, and more. I moved from support to admin to devops to cloud, and I am happy where I am, but even with all that movement and progress and working fully remote... I somedays wish I just became an electrician and moved around more and had more autonomy. That would lead to a longer life, healthier body and healthier mind, just my 2 cents. Some advice I generally give young people is: 1 - keep growing and learning otherwise you will get replaced. 2 - stand up every 45mins for 5mins, 3 - do not work on a "on-call" or "weekend support" schedule, 4 - when they stop valuing you or you get bored and aren't learning, start applying.

Where's all the jobs being posted? I see some on LinkedIn but times are changing. Everyone going to the cloud which seems to be a mistake for many businesses. Hybrid is probably best. In addition, this means Linux is only part of the skillset needed.
I haven't seen too many straight up Linux Admin positions and if I do see them it's usually for principal engineer or something.

Is there a guarantee you get a job or your money back? All these programs are always more than community college with actual degrees. Unless you can 100% no catch can guarantee me a job making 6 figures, then the time and money invested in this program is worthless.
