    Having a certification in AWS or Azure will definitely put you on top of the stack of resumes… Getting a RHCE or RHCSA will definitely let know that know that flavor or Linux… because that test is fully hands-on. Getting familiar with Ubuntu and RHEL will definitely prepare you for cloud opportunities.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 4 месяца назад +8

      You need experience too. Certifications won't do much for you without practical hands on experience. I'm a Red hat guy and don't even have a RCHSA. For as cloud goes same thing you need hands on experience. Most people that work in cloud Infrastructure roles come from an existing sysadmin background which is often a steeping stone into cloud roles as you have to know a LOT of stuff besides just Linux. There's a lot of foundational knowledge that you need to know esp Networking, Security, Storage, Databases, Scripting, Programming, Gitlab, DevOps tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Containers etc. This is not something you can learn in a few months. It can take at least a year or so.

    I just want to say one thing I appreciate about your #DayInMyTechLife series that is different from others is how you change locations almost every interview. I know it might not be a big deal but it can be refreshing as a returning viewer to know the background will change up. Great video btw!

    Thank you for this channel. I have been a systems administrator for 5+ years now and obtained my Sec+ certification ending of 2022. I plan on renewing my certification with the PenTest+ but in terms of actually finding a job, its been hard and a little discouraging. This channel however has given me hope and I will try my best to break into the field.

    A lot of these tech podcast are about getting people new to tech. I have been in IT for over 20 years. Can you explain the difference between IT and Tech and also do people with IT backgrounds face the same challenge. I am also a black woman over 40 and i do want to pivot into the tech side of that makes sense. I am in school now for AWS cloud practitioner cert.

    • @symonebeez
      @symonebeez  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi they are to show people how they can get into these fields whether you are new with no experience or already have tech experience and want to pivot into a different tech career. I would say pretty much everything outside of software engineering and AI/ML is considered IT at its core.

    I’m kind of confused on his take with Linux and Cloud. Only because when you look up Yellow Tail Tech, they are two different career paths. Isn’t that contradictory?

    Just curious… how many hrs a week does someone that makes 80-100k as a Linux system administrator work? I’ve heard of tech people working 10-15hrs a day plus constantly having to learn outside of work. Just wondering how much truth there is to that as a system admin.
