Charlie was adept on fiddle, mandolin, electric bass, guitar and I think banjo. He played on all kinds of peoples recordings going back to the late 50s. I know he played guitar and bass on I believe 3 of Bob Dylan's albums, and also on a Leonard Cohen album to name a couple. Charlie was an outstanding guitar player. Back around I think 1980 he had an accident. He was using a power post hole digger to put some new fence on his place. His shirt sleeve got caught up in the auger and nearly tore his arm off. Broke his right arm in several places and busted up 2 or 3 fingers on the right hand. He was unable to play for about 4 or 5 months. When he rehabbed and was ready to play again, he still didn't have full dexterity in the right hand to play guitar, but he could hold a bow, so he played a lot more fiddle for a while and I guess it became his trademark. RIP Mr. Daniels. Like the devil found out, you were the best there's ever been. Love your reactions Kristin. Always a treat for the ears and the eyes. Stay safe y'all!!
This song has given me goosebumps for 40 years. Back in the day this song appealed to people of all colors and musical tastes. Everyone likes a good "devil beating" song.
RIP Charlie Daniels. I watched his whole funeral. I am still grieving. He was pretty wild in his young years when he came out with this song. He became a Christian later and was a strong man of Faith for the rest of his life. He was very outspoken about it 😘
The first battle wasn't about rap..it was a fiddle battle lol Rip Charlie, real good guy. I seen them live years back at aarowhead stadium in kansas city at some religious thing my grandparents took me to lol. I hated it but I was rocking to Charlie Daniels
Charlie Daniels is a straight up legend. There are few songs that are really cross-genre but this is one. This is real country but even people who barely recognize country know Charlie and this song. When Charlie did this with Mark O'Connor, that was awesome.
R.I.P. TO THE GR8888 CLASSIC SOUTERN ROCK LEGEND CHARLIE DANIELS AND THAT FIDDLE, HE WAS 83 AND DIED FROM A HEMORRHAGIC STROKE :( HIS MUSIC AND STORYTELLING WILL LIVE ON! :) THANKS KALI, BE GOOD X'S
Not a huge country fan, but another good country song is Seminole Wind by John Anderson. Charlie Daniels is a living legend for how great of a story teller and fiddle player he is.
Marty Stuart now he's got some good music too. Who don't enjoy listening to this fiddler in the band though. This's such a kick ass song. 🎻😈 Enjoyed this 💯💯
The best way to appreciate his music is to simply let his song play all the way through, NON STOP, START TO FINISH, PLEASE, AND THANK YOU !!!!! STOP INTERRUPTING THE MUSIC JUST TO TALK... YOU GET A THUMBS DOWN FOR INTERRUPTING THE LATE GREAT CHARLIE DANIELS, DOING HIS ABSOLUTELY BEST LIVE VERSION EVER, ON THE NIGHT HE WAS MADE A MEMBER OF THE GRAND OLE OPRY !!!!! IF CHARLIE KNEW THAT YOU INTERRUPTED HIM JUST TO TALK, HE WOULD BE FURIOUS WITH YOU !!!!!
RUclips does not allow that… besides you can just watch Charlie without reactors.. seems that’s a better choice for you. Please & Thank-you.. 🤔 I WISH the thumbs down were shown.. That’s something else youtube took away from us. Peace be with you
Did you EVER see the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou"? Dan Tyminski is a member of "Union Station", known for being Allison Krauss's backup band. Dan was also chosen as the "singing voice" for George Clooney in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" ruclips.net/video/p-DfsTORoTM/видео.html
I love old school country like Waylon and David Allan Coe, but I feel like you might like Atmosphere, kinda local twin cities rappers Atmosphere. Look up the waitress official video or the loser wins again
This is the worst version--live or recorded-- I've ever heard. If you want the real deal find the Farmer's Aid or Saratoga versions with Taz on the keys. At Saratoga Taz was playing with his left arm in a cast and it didn't slow him down one bit.
Charlie Daniels is the Best there EVER BEEN !!!! His music makes you happy!!!

Charlie died today, 7/6/20, of a stroke at age 83. Would you mind playing this again?

This is not a very good version. I would have gone with either the studio or one where he was younger.
