Ok imma tell you as a law student Manfred Von Karma did more damage than you realize, especially in the localization which is confirmed to take place in California.
With DL-6 and the legal mess we see in the games:
He got the 2nd, 4th, most of the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th amendments of the US constitution repealed. He also had major restrictions put on the 1st amendment. The point was to make legal proceedings as fast as possible with a higher conviction rate.
D-L 6 was so embarrassing that the US Congress restricted the liberty we Americans are so proud of. Bob Karma quite literally destroyed America.

He’s not mentioned here, but Gustavia is definitely one of the most evil villains. First of all the IS-7 all began thanks to Gustavia. He murdered Isaac, leading to this case. He abandoned Simon and didn’t even bother looking for him like bro no wonder Simon is who he is. This led to Simon now becoming another antagonist. And as mentioned, thanks to him causing this case to happen, it ended up with Karma receiving his penalty, and then DL-6 AND SO ON AND THE CHAIN JUST DOESNT STOP!! Gustavia fucking caused collateral damage at this point AND HE GOT AWAY WITH IT FOR 18 YEARS LIKE DAMN!! AND LETS NOT FORGET HIS CHARACTER! All that monster wanted was glory and reputation. He was purely devoted into become the greatest confectioner and even abandoned his own son and he clearly had no regret whatsoever. NOT TO MENTIONED HE KILLED ISAAC BECAUSE HE WAS A THREAT INTO DAMAGING GUSTAVIA’S PRIDE AS A CONFECTIONER AND HIS GLORY!!And even when he was caught doing the murder, he didn’t care how he was seen just so long as since he thought he could get away with it, his glory would still hold. It was only then when he was finally able to be arrested that he felt anguish. Again not cuz he got caught or cuz regret. Only because now his reputation would be brought down. Like what a damn prideful and heartless monster AND WHAT AN EGO HE HAS!!! This man is pure evil without a doubt.

Personally for me, my two favorites are Damon Gant and Mael Stronghart.
I am a fan of those "untouchable" villains that "you're not supposed to question". I can remember the first time I played the first PW game and the whole Damon Gant thing happened. I thought it was just cool that you were exposing a POLICE CHIEF. And how the creators of the game accentuated the gravity of the case by writing all of the characters to be afraid of him. And then you're just plain ol willy nilly skinny phoenix wright. Real David and Goliath stuff right there.
And then of course Mael Stronghart was sort of a throwback to Damon Gant. The very Chief Justice himself facing off against a rookie foreign Japanese lawyer. Compelling stuff.
I remember playing the Edgeworth game and there being a foreign monarch or something like that. But I admit that I played that game VERY fast. I didnt take the time to enjoy it or sit and think about the story because all I was trying to do was freight trains through it to catch maybe PW easter eggs or references. One day, I really should go back and try to enjoy the Edgeworth games.

Realistically, Alba would be the most evul by sentencing. Warcrimes and crimes against the peace.

  • @LordTyph
    @LordTyph 9 месяцев назад +14

First correction: Blaise only gave the penalty because even though Edgeworth's dad lost the case, he did so well that Blaise COULDN'T look the other way like he had in the past and had to give SOME form of penalty, meaning that it remains Gregory Edgeworth who got him the penalty... though him stealing credit AND stealing an undeserved spot despite resembling his son more than he'd like is on brand. Now go back to your cell, you worthless boy. You needed a kidnapping to control the trial, Manfred needed NOTHING like that. He retrained the freaking parrot, for Christ's sake. Your kidnapper didn't even get the right kid, your plot would have failed if Simon Keys didn't do anything.
Second correction: Gant has more presence than Matt Engard because... well, sure, we don't hear about either of them after the case but Ema Sky, a major character from Rise From The Ashes, became a reoccurring character in the Apollo Justice trilogy, taking the detective role in the first and third instalments (as well as appearances in the Ace Attorney Investigations duology). And the reason Ema opens up to Apollo in the first place is because of Rise from the Ashes and her bond with Phoenix being born of that. Meaning that, although you can argue something similar with Adrian Andrews reappearing in Trials and Tribulations, Damon Gant has far more influence in the series, especially since you can see the DNA of the character in the main villain of The Great Ace Attorney 1 and 2. Matt, I'd suggest taking a swim. _You won't be getting another opportunity to do so._
Third correction: I'm sorry, Alba, but your extraterritorial rights are beaten by the right to straight up make new laws on the fly, and completely redefining the legal system to say 'all defense attorneys must die'.

The issue with dahlia is that she’s somewhat a tragic character. Her parents didn’t care for her at all, and all she had was her sister, iris (and Valerie at one point in time). The whole thing with terry was to get at her father, who didn’t care for her (not to mention that terry was 20 and she was 14). What I’m trying to say is that she’s not as bad as first thought, although she’s DEFINITELY still awful and probably irredeemable. I’d say she is slightly than Gant, Engarde and Manfred, as all three of them aren’t tragic at all (I’m not sure for the investigation villains as I’ve barely seen them games)

Being important, being rich etc. If she was just content with being a branch family all would've been fine. He may have killed Misty, but it was to save Maya's life, he didn't have evil intentions (as much as he tries to convince himself he did). He held a grudge against Wright, and he became a prosecutor to make his life harder, but he never does anything like forge evidence to win his trials, and he doesn't even try to get revenge at Wright, he's more so there to just piss him off.

      - This one is debatable so you could be right.
      - Okay, maybe I went a bit too hard on Alba xd...
      - This video only focuses on Main Villains/Final bosses(or culprits if you prefer) since Trilogy + AAI have like 10 of them (and also the reason, or part of it at least why Godot was included as he's at the VERY least an antagonist) so no, I did not forget about Redd White (Although if he was included he would definitely be a top contender).

      - Simon's intended targets were criminals who abuse their power for selfish reasons, and since the legal system in Ace Attorney is heavily corrupted (blame Kristoph Gavin for that), Simon took matters into his own hands. He's one of Ace Attorney's few well-intentioned villains.
      - Manfred gaslighted Edgeworth into thinking he killed Gregory, which gave Miles nightmares for 15 years and straight up abused forced Edgeworth and Franziska to be perfect prosecutors like him just to stroke his own ego. No way he cares about them.
      - Redd White was the secondary antagonist of his game like Morgan, Godot, and Blaise were the secondary antagonists of their games so it seemed only fair to include him. Besides, he had a pretty big impact since he's the guy directly responsible for Misty leaving the Kurain village and along with Manfred and Blaise, indirectly responsible for Dahlia becoming a serial killer (although she brought that on herself).
      - At least we can agree Alba should at least get credit where credit is due.

@@theRealSnake61 The entire reason that it's debatable as to if Manfred cared or didn't care for his kids is bcause of the LACK of evidence to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt unlike with Blaise Debeste.
For anything before the events of Case 1-4, we don't actually get to see much of Miles and Manfred's dynamic with one another. Manfred obviously treated Edgeworth horribly during that specific case, but to say he did those things, when there isn't enough evidence to back it up?
      1. Gaslighted Edgeworth into believing he killed his own father? The game presents this belief as something Edgeworth himself concocted entirely on his own. Yes, we later on get the fact that Manfred knew Edgeworth thought this, AND furthermore would use that as an opportunity to pin Edgeworth for the crime HE HIMSELF commited. This evil as hell, but y'know what we don't have? *When* he knew that informatiom, and furthermore *how* he came to know of it in the first place. It creates too many possibilies. As long as we lack evidence for those two things, there's no way to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that he gaslighted Edgeworth into believing he was the culprit.
      2. Abused Edgeworth & Franziska to become Perfect Prosecutors? Where is the *proof?* Naturally the present events of 1-4 alone are not enough as that all takes place when Edgeworth is already 24 years old. Surely there must be evidence that Manfred *consistently* abused him AND Franziska throughout their lives right? Oh wait... the proof *doesn't even exist* beyond that. In fact the one case in all of Ace Attorney we have where we get to remotely *see* Manfred mentoring Edgeworth showed no signs of even *verbal* abuse? Some of the things said are a little harsh, but nothing there goes far enough to suggest actual child abuse. That's just with Edgeworth mind you. Don't even get me started on Franziska... I hate the fact that I lowkey have to sound like Manfred to get this across, but for charges as serious as abuse? Evidence is everything. Where is the proof of him abusing Franziska in any way, shape, or form? Unless the only """evidence""" for it is that _because he's evil._
For any and all events before Case 1-4, those are either theories at best, or outright *headcanon at worst.* Treating them as definitive when objectively they're not doesn't make any sense. That's why in the end it becomes a debate. The severe lack of being able to prove he did those things *beyond any reasonable doubt.* As long as this remains, he can't even be compared to someone like Blaise Debeste, who unlike Manfred, we CAN prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.
Side Note: Speaking of """evidence,""" did you know that *one* particular line from the original English Localization of AAI from Manfred that people use as "proof," is a mistranslation? In context to the conversation, he should've referred to Edgeqorth there as an Amateur, which for all intents and purposes, is exactly what Edgeworth was at the time. You can easily find this out by looking at the original Japanese line, and also the context of the conversation before the line. I wouldn'r be shocked if in the release of the upcoming Investigations Dualogy Collection, they end of changing that line to be translated in Englishly both more faithfully and more *accurately.*

Whereas Simon didn't do anything to deserve getting persecuted by some of the most evil people in ace attorney, one of which is literally on the top of this list.

@tobyonatabe2601 Simon did some other questionable things, too. He tried to frame a murder on a child- And, knowing the legal system of Ace Attorney, he'd surely be imprisoned. He manipulated people, caused deaths just for his revenge, and even went as far as to cause the death of his best friend.

@@sp1cemelon the evil didn't come from him though, it was conditioned into him by the fake president of Zheng fa, Blaise Debeste, Patricia Roland, His father etc. He had the worst possible upbringing which caused him to do those things.
Don't forget that The tierlist is about who is more evil, not who has the most jailtime. A good question to ask yourself is: are they redeemable? Would matt ever do something evil again? Absolutely! If de killer died he would try to break out of jail immediately and kill anyone in his path. Simon on the other hand is living peacefully in jail with the closest thing he ever had to a father.
