Yeah, lol. Edgeworth did say he was going to open a new investigation against him then and there, tbf. And that guard can't really say anything about what happens in a detention center. I'm sure I read that somewhere but idk. Either way, Matt will be brought to justice eventually, lol.
@@razorrat11 "Guards can also be character witnesses if they have observed an inmate for a period of time," So, no. The guard would fully be able to testify in favor of Adrian Andrews. The problem would be the Double Jeopardy rule, in which one cannot be tried for the same crime twice.
Pretty sure youve seen this contradiction before, @@BottleofJarritos, but with Double Jeopardy, how did Maggey get a retrial ? Wouldnt it be difficult to believe that Furio Tigre impersonated him ? And, if I remember correctly, Gumshoe goes to talk to the Judge about this, but the decision isnt taken by him only, right ? And shouldnt have the procedure taken longer than it did in-game anyway ?
@@BottleofJarritos Yeah, true, but we're talking about the judge here, and he has like Joe Biden-level dementia, Emmanuel Macron-level incompetence and Austrian Painter-level dumbness, Im pretty sure that most of the time, he doesnt remember that hes the judge

Trials and tribulations, a person who is found innocent of a crime cannot be tried again for the same crime even if he is guilty. (For example: Ron) Even if Andrew gets a not guilty verdict, Matt would still be free forever
I wonder if they’ll be a continuation to this, because wow was it touching. I’ve seen what I’m pretty sure was your video about everyone’s reactions to the bad ending of Farewell, but this ending is bittersweet but still really good… especially if they successfully reopen the case and the prosecution manages to prove without a doubt that it was Engarde. And if you think about it, Phoenix would only ever defend Engarde again to convict him, but even so, he probably wouldn’t… so in this AU, Phoenix would technically have a perfect win record! Aside from his disbarment of course.
Phoenix would most likely want to get involved in the case, but whether that be by being Engarde's lawyer or not, he's going to want to see Matt be brought to justice. And thx, Marcy. :D
@@dylanzlol7293 That's actually a good point... honestly that probably means Edgeworth would assign himself Payne as a prosecutor or something in Bridge to the Turnabout lol
There's actually a way to make Engarde pay for his crime though, Maya. She knew who was the client that ordered her kidnapping. Edgeworth might also found a loophole to arrest Engarde as a suspect for being De Killer "acquaintance" and got Engarde trial for different crime and hopefully force him to confess about Juan's murder. Unfortunately, Andrew would be long dead by then.
This was sublime! I actually prefer this outcome over the actual bad ending. What you did here was impressive! Giving a much more deep and detailed presentation of the consequences for each character. It was genuinely sad seeing Maya shouting at Pearl and even saying she won't forgive Phoenix. And Edgeworth at last becomes the voice of not only reason, also reassurance. Totally it gives space for an unique What-If.
Damn, Edgeworth really cares so much about phoenix wright to the point where he chooses to save him. Anyhow, why does maya hate nick? Like, ok, its not like unwillingly getting an innocent woman the death row is easy to forgive, but... he saved her life, and itd be certainly bad for pearls if maya didnt come back.
I actually made an AU of Maya ending up dying because Phoenix wasn’t able to get Matt Engarde not guilty and didn’t convince De Killer Matt was betraying him
Really well written, except for De KIller's arrest. In that case the entire pressure on Wright would have been gone so he would have just confessed (mind you, nothing he did is illegal) and they probably would have been able to force a retrial getting Engarde a Guilty verdict.
Perhaps I could've done that better, yea. However, my main goal was remastering the og vid, and I didn't take into consideration of De Killer's arrest, lol.
I don't think they would be able to convict Matt Engarde for the murder because of double Jeopardy laws that prevents a person for being tried for the same crime.
Is there a reason as to why the apollo justice phoenix wright sprites werent used? It's a jobless version of himself after all, so he would fit in nicely
@@razorrat11 i know he isnt a dad, the thing is that the context is that he quit, so it wouldnt be questionable to see phoenix wright using these clothes as his casual clothes, regardless of the og context of the apollo phoenix sprites. And it would look cool tbh
Now here's an interesting legal question: Because Matt Engarde, through an agent (De Killer), coerced the defense (and, to an extent, the prosecution), is it the case that jeopardy never attached in his original trial, and he can be tried again notwithstanding the not guilty verdict?
This Timeline, hum it's Matt Enguarde Won, no one Stops the Revenge of Iris and Dalia Hawthorn, the Dark Age of Law has adianted, and Mia Fey was never Rest in peace, and never one stops Godot/Diego Armando for good.
Ngl, I wouldve been fine having this as the official end of the case, and tbh, even if phoenix definitely woulve tried to save Adrian in the end, I would also be fine with him not trying to (Edgeworth had many false verdicts after all, and nothing proves that he actually tried to help those false culprits, at least for all I know). Also, I feel like it wouldve been a really good character development, and an even better one if he couldnt help Adrian : the one person who always tried to find the truth actually had to hide it for Maya's sake and now he has to make his way out of this trauma, re-create a fragile friendship with Maya, deal with the rumors saying that he framed Adrian that would undoubtedly emerge (she is the only one person Nick put in jail which didnt confess, continues to swear she is innocent and basically the only one whos verdict could be disputed because there are still doubts), and didnt he also falsely accused other innocent people who did a fake confession under his pressure ? And couldnt he have forged evidence ? He is Edgeworth's best friend after all (sry the Wrigthworth shippers, but I prefer Feenris). And its in this climate when T&T starts : Godot has just awaken and learned about what happened in the past 5 years... and also to learn about Nick's reputation : some hate him, some admire him ; some see him as an exemple of justice, some openly reject his legacy and want his disbarred... but it is highly possible that the verdict was indeed false for Farewell, My Turnabout... and he calls himself Mia's successor ? How disappointed is she (spoiler alert : she probably is at some extent). And so Godot hate Phoenix even more. And now, the Gramarye Case... and Phoenix's disbarment... He used forged evidence... He is corrupt after all... with the already spread rumors (which ones couldve worsen due to Recipe for a Turnabout, I mean, he legit gained a retrial for a convicted client of his, claiming that it wasnt him who defended, ngl, if we didnt knew that it was actually what happened, it would be quite sus), then the news wouldve been a shockwave, and Phoenix probably wouldve be seen as some kind of defense attorney-version of MVK. But other than that, the plot of the series wouldnt have changed that much, it wouldve been more difficult for Nick to gain his badge back, though.
@@razorrat11 I dont actually like it that much neither, but I think it wouldve added more depth to Phoenix's character, but between this ending and the canon one, I still prefer the canon one, for at least one reason : Engarde has what he deserved and, in addition, a cool breakdown
After phoenix wright loses his attorney badge and apollo starts hanging out with him, wouldnt there be rumours of apollo secretly getting forged evidence from phoenix wright to win his own trials even if the defendant isnt actually innocent?
