I just sat and did a proper boo-hoo! This video was put up 13 years ago - I'd love to know if those walls have been painted yet.
Great rendition - somehow i think, given the poignant history the song is recording, that this is one of the truest renditions of the song. This woman deserves a recording studio and a big audience!
what got me was--i like the son, he's not ashamed to stand up for his mom, who is lovely, we all get along in life mind ya, and she did an awesome job on the song!!! God bless her, and her son!
I've come back to this video dozens of times over the years (usually after a few glasses of tizer) and I have to say, this version always takes my breath away. This lady is magnificent (and the picker does a great job!)
December, 2023. Not sure how I got here, but here I am tuning into a 15 year old video of a mother/son, who look more like brother and sister, covering a favorite song of mine. The vocals are beautiful. There's something so charming about this. Simplistic, and organic. I'm glad they left the lyric and guitar glitches in. And, I like the walls in the room just the way they are. And, the greeting cards taped onto the door are a nice touch. I don't even mind that the guitar accomnimant is a bit too loud. Makes it real. Well, maybe, they could've slowed the song down a bit, then I could hear mum sing a little longer. That would've been extra sweet. I hope mother and son are well, and still singing and playing, and wishing all a Merry Christmas!
I had great/great/grandparents from Ireland and this song always touches the tiny piece of Irish in my soul. Lovely song, lovely voice, lovely lady.....
