    Hi Pete that's a great looking gun mate and a very comprehensive kit with everything you need, I like the digital gauge and that it includes a temp gauge built in as the air temp also effects the way the gun sprays and is something we don't normally check as it can be different to the ambient temp that a really nice addition.
    Is the WB cap purely designed for water based or does it say it will do solvent as well, I don't really see any reason it wouldn't do solvent but I'm sure you will be trying it. The gun design does look very similar to the Sata guns but but the gauge works and looks like the DV1.
    I'm really looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it and how it sprays as for the price it looks to be good value for money as it's not a bad price, cheers Pete👌🙏👍

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 года назад

      Hi John, yes, you can use the WB cap for solvent as well, looking at the pattern i think it will be a good clear cap also, I've used all the Iwatas WB guns with solvent and they work well.
      I've been trying a few waterbourn paints and the spraying style is slightly different, pressure is a bit higher, distance from the panel is more and speed you move is a bit faster, that's all general comments but imo it sums up what i have found.
      Yes, looks lovely, probably my best looking gun although the WS400 would push it close, on the face of it a bargain, i got it a few weeks ago as it was a special order but sprayguns direct are keeping them now, I love the digital gauge, it's there if you want it but mostly i won't so it's great to just take it off, cheers mate 👍

    • @JohnWD40TC02
      @JohnWD40TC02 2 года назад

      That's a good idea to be able to remove it and still use the gun, apart from the Walcom I don't think there is another gun that does that but even with the Walcom all you are doing is removing the readout part but the actual regulator is still there.
      I haven't tried anymore WB paints since I did the gold which was a long time ago now, I still have that paint but I don't know if it will be any good now it's been kept indoors so no frost has been at it, I would like to see you do more WB base to see how you do it mate as I made a right mess of it🤦‍♂😂

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 года назад +1

      You'll probably be ok with it now, you've moved on a fair bit since you last used it, I've done a video, not on RUclips yet doing a candy tank, it's solvent white as a base, waterbourn gold and solvent candy with obviously clear on top, think i used an ANI R160 from memory, it was just to show you can mix them, not together obviously but in the painting process, after all that's all you doing with waterbourn base and solvent clear, your paint should be fine mate, as long as it hasn't frozen it last ok, not as long as solvent which last many years but certainly a few years.
      I've been using deionized water and pure iso alcohol to thin the paint, works fine but doesn't speed the drying process up as i thought it might, heat gun works fine as it moves the air and obviously heats it as long as you give it a minute or two for the metallic to settle otherwise it moves the flake about 😂 👍

    • @JohnWD40TC02
      @JohnWD40TC02 2 года назад

      Yeah I will give it another try when I change my colours again (which won't be long) I just want to get used to the WS400 first so the muscle memory is there then I will be able to just pick it up and lay a nice coat down.
      I have some IPA which I think should be ok as a thinner, which do you think would be the best gun for it mate? I'm thinking either the DV1 base or the W400🤔thanks Pete👍

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 года назад +1

      @@JohnWD40TC02 I think your paint is the same as mine from Advanced Paints which i think is Kapci, it doesn't need a lot of thinning, around 20 to 30%, the coverage is better than solvent as its more dense, has more pigment in it, I would try the DV1 but either should be fine.
      Don't panic if the first coat looks rubbish, it seems to look like that but after the 2nd it looks fine, i think that's due to the amount of pigment again as the areas it's covered look completely coloured and areas that have received a little less look patchy, with solvent it's more even, I think that's why the WB caps all use more air to atomise the heavier density paint better, anyway, I'm probably over thinking it but you'll get there, you always do, cheers mate 👍

    Hi Pete, looks like a great gun. I'm a DIY guy that paints only my own projects, only a couple times a year at best. I have a DIY crossflow booth, with clean air and I'm looking to replace my two old Devilbiss GTI-620 millennium guns, one for base and the other for clear. I was looking at getting two Iwata kiwami 4 but now I'm thinking about just getting just one ANI Skull. Since I don't paint that much, durability shouldn't be an issue for me. I would like to hear your thoughts or other guns I should possibly look at for under $500 usd. Thank you in advance.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Год назад

      Hi Kevin, you won't go far wrong with the Kiwami4s or the Skull kit. It's always preferable to have a base and clear gun but if your not using it that much you'll be cleaning it properly each time so the need to keep separate guns is negated somewhat.
      If I was given your choice I would go the Kiwami4 BA4J in 1.2 for base and the Kiwami4 WBX in 1.3 or 1.4 if you like your clear gun faster, you could probably get the pair of them in your budget and you would have a dedicated gun.
      I have no hesitation in recommending the Skull kit, it is very good and should last well but you could probably get the other two for only slightly more? , cheers 👍

      Hi Cristian, I did see a pdf with those figures but keeped them the same for the spray out just so the pattern didn't separate as it's a relatively thin clear , I'll try different pressures when I'm using it but i cant see it needing that much pressure for a good finish, indeed, it would be hard to get the HVLP up to that pressure for most people because they wouldn't have the air flow to supply a constant pressure.

      Hi buddy, ANI recommend 1.8 on the digital gauge for clear and WB and 1.6 for HVLP, i set it at 2bar on the bottom as the fluid i was using is quite thin and i didn't want it to separate, it would make very different to the patern i think.
      I have been using it over the past few days and am not needing anything like the pressures ANI quote, 2.1 bar at the base for clear and WB give really good results, the HVLP at 2.0 bar is giving a great finish with solvent base with very little overspray, probably need a little more with waterbourn, certainly looks incredible value for money 👍
