  • How to install a point of use water heater under a sink. If you need hot water in a kitchenette and can't get a hot water supply from the tank, a point of use (or undersink) water heater is a great way to solve the problem. I show you how to install the water, what considerations you should have with the electrical supply, water supply and pressure relief valve discharge, finishing with a lovely song about what we've learnt.

Going the effort to create your own vocals with humour is leaps and bounds above what other plumbing related channels worldwide efforts.
You are an example for putting effort into your channel.
Absolutely solid filming, editing and content ideas here.

Really great detailed video as ever. I fitted a similar one recently and reused the original pressure reducer, pressure vessel and pressure relief valve as they were originally fitted. The hot water deliver with the new heater was really fierce when the hot tap was first turned on and then after about ten seconds ended up as a trickle. A friend who used to be a heating engineer told me to replaced the pressure reducing valve. I took his advice as i’m a qualified plumber with Part P but not hearing quals yet. This solved the pressure surge but now the valve gauge gets up to over 3.5 bars when the taps are off and the relief valve is releasing a trickle of water continuously. My assumption is that the pressure vessel isn’t doing its job and although the relief valve is rated to 6bars it has a relief setting of around 3 bars. Also the original vessel was plumbed in right next to the relief valve and is level with the feed at the top of the heater and is located in line between the regulator valve and the relief valve. You mention a 30mm drop to the pressure vessel. I don’t recall seeing that in the installation instructions and the customer has mislaid them. Do you think my diagnosis that the pressure vessel is faulty could be correct and is the 30mm drop crucial? Thanks and keep up this great channel please. Will find you and post a message on Insta too as you’re an Instagram fan.

Hey James, I loved the video and went out and bought a Kingspan Ultra flow 10l, installed exactly the same as yours in the video. Its fantastic, water nice and hot when we need it with plenty of adjustment if we wanted it even hotter, so all good! The missus says to me yesterday that there was "Black bits" in the sink?? she was running hot and cold, anyways after a bit of investigating the black bits are deffo coming from the hot feed, any ideas why that would be? Its only been in for a couple of months and works great, I'm up in the Highlands, just outside of Inverness, on the water main though.

Valuable video. Can you please tell us how one of these would work in a mobile setup? We are setting up a coffee trailer and for compliance we intend to run a flojet pump to an under sink heater. Using a Y junction, we want to run a line via the heater and up to a flick mixer hot side and the other line up to the cold side of flick mixer. Is this viable with an under sink heater?

Do you think it is feasible to connect an IHW heater (tankless) into a power shower hot feed? Thus reducing the size of IHW heater needed, eg. instead f say a 11kW you could use a 6kW? I ask as I need a temporary over winter solution while my oil heating system is removed prior to the new install in the spring. Just need to have an operational bathroom and didn't want to install a new electric shower as already have a power shower.

Could you install a pressure reducing valve on both the hot and cold pipes going to the heater to avoid installing it on the pipe that feeds the house. Of course you would have to buy a 2nd one but is it worth it to avoid building regs

Can I tee into the cold water supply between the relief valve and the 50L heater to supply the 10L or does it need a separate supply with it's own pressure reducing valve, expansion vessel and relief valve? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

and if we are going down that road an anti legenlla tee and valve should be fitted..
