I'll watch anything at this point
LOL
same
But not mad max furiosa apparently
@@saintniccage2818 burn 😂😂
Welcome to the internet. We’ve got lots of shit.
I thought I had time travelled
I thought “Why was a video from six and a half years ago re-uploaded?” 😆
The way the editor emphasized hits and bombs at the beginning with the clip from Skull Island... Chef's kiss.
agree
Maybe the best edit ever
Oh. My. God.
That's what I like about the editing on this channel. It's not just ADHD fodder. It's engaging and sometimes the editor inputs their own opinions and jokes.
Matt and Laurence
wow i cant belive its nearly 2018 guys D: !!!!!!!!!
I wish it was 2018... GET ME OUT OF 2024 PLEASE
wow look how big the box office is. imagine how big it will be in two years!
@Falf_lw Fuck that, we'd have to go through 2020 all over again
Oh boy! The announcement of the Mad Max: Fury Road is DEFINITELY just around the corner this year! I CAN FEEL IT! :D
Babe wake up, it’s 2017
Wow, I can't believe its only been 7 years since we were all divided about the latest star wars movie. I'm glad we can all agree on the quality of new star wars things now days
War never changes
James: “We have Time Crapsule on the main channel!”
Time Crapsule on the main channel:
Can't wait until they review Jesus.
Look we all had fun with him
They should read his biography@@lrrroftheplanetomicronpersei8
Considering what's going on in the middle east, I wouldn't recommend it 😂
@@BLACULA-Skeewoah why? Neither party there is all that hot about him.
The Passion of the Christ 2: Resurrection - Part 1 comes out next year so they will so long as they don't retire or die.
Somehow my brain can't comprehend that Thor Ragnarok, SM Homecoming, AND GOTG 2 came out the same year. Phase 3 was full of bangers.
phase 1-3 are full of bangers compared to the recent phases tbh
I got two minutes into this before I worked out in my head that Blade Runner 2049 is gonna be in the 2017 Bombs video, and now I'm sad.
coco the little Italian boy 😭😭😭cmon man
My thoughts exactly. Surely they at least know that it’s a Mexican movie.
Good thing I know what you’re trying to convey, because “little girl/boy” and this emoji 😭 mean something *very* different in… certain communities.
@@mojavefry2617 huh
@mojavefry2617 What are you even on about
@@gcap7711 Long story short, people in certain game/anime fandoms use the crying emoji to denote attraction to, let’s say, “youthful” characters.
Yes! Would absolutely love more of these going back (forward?)
Yeah, why not. If you like this IGN did History of awesome for like 30 years or so. So good. Peak ign
Just watching this video and some of the movies on the list I’m like “I forgot that came out in 2017” and “i didn’t know it made an billion dollars”
I'm so excited about you going back in time and doing all these hits and bombs! TripleJump does this for video games and I watched those videos incessantly.
Great job, great concept! So excited :):)
Thanks Riley, much appreciated!
I actually knew the girl who played young Wonder Woman, she had me in secret Santa but was flown out to America for filming so I never got anything.
That doesnt sound very wonderful
@@BassLineProductionsI it was not
Sounds like your villain origin story is complete.
@@dylanmahaffey8920 Can't wait to see you in Wonder Woman 3.
Is this the new version of "My girlfriend lives in Canada, you wouldn't know her"?
Kinda crazy that Logan, Ragnarok and Wonder Woman's production budget was only around 100mill+. The recent superhero movies are like 250/300mill+ and look like trash
It would be interesting to see what these budgets would be minus salaries paid to producers, directors, actors. Like how much money is actually put into the production and not just paying people to be there?
@@Jumbalia23 Production budgets usually don't include the cost of actors/directors. I think the extra budgets nowadays is due to leaving everything for post-production which apparently costs a lot.
if only studios would learn something from that.... but they won't!
Studios generally give lower budgets to movies they consider a risk. Such as Logan, being rated R. $200M was already standard in 2017.
@@ANGELOFDARKification Leave it for post production with no clear vision for what it's supposed to look like so there's a lot of last minute changes
Wtf I woke up and saw the title and thought I was still dreaming
Holy crap I love this idea! The year end box office videos are some of my favourite things on RUclips. I look forward to them every year. So glad we’re getting more of that as you guys look at different years! Thanks gents
Yes, Coco is fantastic. Definitely both watch it.
One of Pixar's best in a long while.
@@filipzoric6881real
agreed! my wife put it on during "peak pandemic" and I had little interest (I'm not even sure why. Normally I'm absolutely down for PIxar)...by the end I was floored. What a good movie
It's a very nice watch. Even if it's implicit endorsement of border security is a bit weird and absent minded, the emotion and animation manage to carry it through
James explaining Boss Baby to Mason is the same as James explaining One Piece to Mason, absolute insanity when you try to explain it
Man, a lot of good movies used to all come out in the same year. That's wild.
More monkey movies than I remember as well.
Like, REALLY good monkey movies. Which is an insane thing to say.
we really used to get 2-3 good comic book movies every year
12:56 a properly done live action Atlantis might be sick though…
💯
woke up in a fugue state and this is the first notification i saw, fully thought it was december 2017
Speaking of The last Jedi did you know that the working title for the first Star wars film was Blue Harvest? (This joke was a lot fresher in 2017)
Are you sure it wasn't Green Harvest?
Disney was expecting green harvest if you know what I mean.
Can’t wait until this gets past the 2000s and you have to say something about movies you saw 30 years ago and remember nothing about. “Have you ever seen ‘First Knight’, Mason?” “I don’t know.”
While the video editing on Mr Sunday Movies is always among the best in the business, this one was particularly masterful.
I want this series to go so far back that even my parents weren't alive for the movies you cover.
I'm fully with Maso with the sound he automatically made when Beauty and the Beast was 2nd. Fully...what?!?!
Hot diggity dog the “ones for hits ones for bombs” Skull Island is clip is some cinematic magic
I cant believe I missed this one. Thanks for reposting it.
Jumanji was surprisingly good.
That’s definitely a Mr.Sunday moment
13:25 you guys should do all the pirates movies. It would be fun to see your enjoyment slowly decline into insanity
Mason: DAMN...
Ben/Lawrence: Beaver on a dam
Me: I spit cereal milk everywhere.👏🏾😅🤣
masterful😂
I feel bad for Tonts. I don't know what it is, but that barefoot woman chewing on power cables is featured at the end of every one of your videos, and I feel bad that that's how she's immortalized.
That's James' wife!
@@ellaisplotting so she could stop them if she wanted to? THEN IT'S ON HER
I thought this was a reupload and I miss 2017 so goddamn much 😢😭
Thanks for the Fall Guy reminder editors 💀
Atlantis as a live action movie could unironically be awesome. That movie I feel would actually translate really well to live action.
FYI Thor Ragnarok integrated a bit of Planet Hulk into the film, not World War Hulk. That's when Hulk becomes the "villain", which will be fascinating to see on the big screen.
Thanks for the "Um Aktyouahly" I was going to do it after reading comments.
I WILL vilify James for both of his numerical mistakes in this video.
Aw come on mate
2017 might’ve been one of the best years in recent memory for movies
No matter what people say about The Last Jedi, it was certainly a movie to define that year.
Oh thank god! It was all a dream! It’s 2017!!!
Boy was that year really... something!!!
Also was up in Maine with my Dad when IT Part I got released, we even got to see Stephen King's mansion in Bangor with the iron bat gates!!! The author has one house in red brick that is his mansion with a neighboring white building that is his library, and even a radio channel dedicated entirely to the author with readings of his works and special guest appearances by the Master! We didn't get the chance to meet him, but hey, at least we saw his home and listened to the radio channel.
17 minutes… nice!
I thought RUclips was recommending me 7 year old videos
Man, can't wait to see the biggest box office hits of 1925!
As always, S-tier editing by the crew.
Watch Coco. It's great.
Guardians Vol. 2 I think is the best one.
Last Jedi rules.
Now that the people who take children's sci-fi oddly seriously have largely moved on, I think it's safe to talk about how The Last Jedi was good and widely popular.
Had to pause the video right now when James and Maso are both admitting to never seeing Coco. How?? How. They’re dead to me until they watch Coco and love it
I can't believe James got the episode number wrong on the best Star Wars. What a villain!
The Wolverine movies are absolutely a trilogy because Logan seems to call back to the others
0:26 forgot to mention, one of the best editing choices perfectly synced with James 👏🏾
Coco is amazing and absolutely worth the watch
I love the idea of going back and doing these for every year. Also watch Coco, you'll both love it
This year was the peak point of working in the movie theaters for me and 90% of money made that year was marvel/Disney. I got to see them all for free. So that was cool.
The gradual realization that this was a new discussion of past years’ hits & bombs and not a reupload of some old podcast clip was like realizing I’m not dreaming and my alarm clock really did go off two hours ago.
Dude the editors KILLIIN it had me cracking up the whole video with the timing
I think a live-action Atlantis is one of the few potential live-action adaptations that could actually be a great movie. That and Titan A.E. would probably be great.
Movies are back Baby!! Love this idea thank you gents.
I waited 7 Years for this.
Coco one of the best Pixar films, highly recommend it!
James watch Coco you’ll love it! For the whole family too.
The Boss Baby, as a concept, had fully exited my mind. It had been forgotten. Thanks James 😂
Damn, this was a decent year. (hope that's not divisive!)
2017 feels like a lifetime ago now.
This is an interesting list of films that I thought came out last year but that actually came out seven years ago...
So, something interesting about box office takings is how they actually gather them all together, per studio, and figure out what to do with the profit and where to use it next. They refer to it in house as a "Blue Period" as they are looking at all that money knowing it's going to be spent in order to make more money. Some people go as far to refer to it as a profit harvest, leading to some people in the business calling it a "Blue Harvest" which coincidently was the working title for Star Wars - First Star Wars - Episode 4 - A New Hope.
The fact that I love this before the video has even started
Treat yourselves and watch Coco 💀
Love this, looking forward to more
I remember The Greatest Showman still having screenings in Ireland at least 5 months after release and nobody said anything about it!
Hell yeah Coco is sick
2017 was a big year for cinema.
This list made me realize how often me and my siblings went to the cinemas in 2017
Like we watched almost 90% of the movies included here
I guess tickets were cheaper
This could easily become my favorite series if you keep it up, I love this kind of thing
The Despicable Me series is relatively low effort for relatively high returns, but James is right.
Theres more to them than just the minion memes, there's quite a bit of detail and love put into them so they might be formulaic but not boring.
Still can’t get over why Mr Sunday movies is Mr Monday movies
I like the retrospective of each of these top 10 movies. It would be cool to go back every 10 years and look back at the top movies
I love The Last Jedi and Beauty And The Beast 2017.
I would watch James and Maseau talk about the history of charcoal and be invested the whole time.
COCO IS AMAZING! must watch!
Thank you for pointing out the thing with Star Wars tv being medium shots in an office. That’s my problem, I feel like it should be big like Rogue One was, but it feels like Suits or something.
Y'all could put out a biggest box office of 1949 and I'd watch it you guys are too fun
Brother, many of us wish it was still 2017.
i look forward to this and vox’s year round up every single year - this is my christmas / joker origin story
This was the year I had a podcast with my ex best friend. This was one of the best years of my life.
thanks for the trip back in time boys
"Do they share any continuity? We don't know".
It says everything you need to know about the Fox Men that you can be talking about a collection of three films where 2/3 are more than a decade old (and the other one is 7 years old) and the answer to that question is still "We don't know".
Take a shot every time they say something to the effect of “back when people weren’t sick of these”
Hell yeah brother, do all the years
This is like when my brother and I watched the Highest Grossing Film of every year from 1915 to now
For real, though, why have they not made a live action series out of Atlantis? They montaged the 2nd quarter of that original film, so you can even build upon the original without incident... why go back to the well to reinvent the classics that everyone loves when you could reinterpret a niche classic and build on it in ways it could never have done with the alloted time or budget?
This was more fun than I expected. Nice work team
This notification really threw me for a loop, lmao
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HOW MANY YEARS YOULL GO BACK!!!! I’m not kidding
i could listen to you guys talk about anything for hours
I love this already
Great episode of the "Never go back" podcast
2017? James remembers 2017? Wow, James is old
