Really like this remastering, in the original the vocals sound drowned out by the instrumentals. Having the vocals cut through like this is definitely great to hear!
Was desperately searching for a better mixing of this song as the original is nearly unhearable and sounds like the vocals are underwater lmao. Nice to hear a clearer mix! Beautiful.
I like that the vocals are clearer. Personally, while the kick is more audible now, I prefer the snare sound of the original and I think, some parts were better left off inaudible, like the break on the toms around 2:03. A bit too much compression for my taste, but like you said, maybe it's not for everyone. Otherwise really good job!
I never comment on RUclips videos but this sounds incredible! You notice so many things in this mix you can't hear in the regular one. You should contact the record label or something to make this the official release, because this is one of their best songs but all versions i've found are so low-quality.
I think on the original they masked that out because it doesn't really sync up with the other instruments. I decided to leave it in since I think it sounds kinda cool, even though it was probably a mistake.
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback! To clarify, I took the individual recordings of each instrument, loaded them into Ableton, and used modern mixing/mastering techniques that I'm currently learning at university. I've been trying to practice on tracks that I like listening to, but are somewhat lacking in production quality. For example, the original mix of this song definitely leans toward a "mono" sound rather than "stereo", which causes some of the accompaniment to be buried in the mix, so I've tried to bring some of that out in this version.
@@BenWakefield Info gained from separate interviews from Sting and Stuart, it was a practically a demo of a song Sting wrote, might even be pre-Police. The band tried re-recording in various styles, but couldn't recapture the feel of the demo, so it was decided to over dub the demo. Stuart was furious with Sting not being content with the drum takes, so Stuart went back and did yet another take, and that he says comes in the energy of the drumming.

This is the mix this song deserved!!!

Every little part of this song is magic
So well done. Really captured the bounce in the chorus, and the vocals and drums are so clean. Great work!
Interesting, especially drums, I can hear some parts that I've not heard before. I like it.
Thank you, that was my goal!
Phenomenal remaster. Great job!

Fantastic, great remaster
Perfect sound!
The last phrase on the CD has been cut, but I was able to listen to everything in this video. Thank you!
...seeing Rick Beato's What Makes This Song Great? allowed me to listen for all those "hidden " parts of this group's best song...
Bellissima! Adoro i Police❤
The vocals sit on top of the arrangement and sound a lot more in tune than the original!

I like it!
Interesting, what's up with that cut at 2:03? I could swear the original doesn't have that snare / guitar hit at the downbeat

Sting would love this mix, the drums are a lot lower volume.
Just to be clear; this is just a remaster (cleaning) of the track? It definitely sounds clean killer job.

@@BenWakefield As I said well played without question and a track the certainly carries some weight. It's nice to hear it so clean.

The original song gets copyrighted. Clearer mix doesn't change the copyright.
this is more of a remix than a remaster since you altered the individual tracks
