I think this is the best explanatory video on the legend but as you said there was a few things missed i.e. bottle cap rejection and other settings which was what I was hoping to hear about because that's where I started to get a bit lost with the machine
Great video. Just as a suggestion, it would have been even nicer to show the buttons along with the screen itself. Possibly an overhead or direct on view.
Thanks a lot, a great help and you were clear and concise. Makes a change compared to many other youtube vids. Brilliant! Thanks, I am new to the legend and now I'm excited about going out with it knowing I'm starting off well with good settings to start with. Many thanks.
Thank you! I was struggling to understand the symbols and how to use them on the Legend having just upgraded from the Simplex, but after coming across your video and easy to follow explanations, I feel far more confident now! So thank you very much for posting this video! Easy to follow and understand!
Perfect, this is THE video I've been looking for since getting a Legend recently. I used to have a Simplex so it feels familiar, however more settings available if you want them. I'm purely a beach detectorist so stability is what I'm really after. Thanks!!
Watched the video and agree that they seem to be fairly close in comparison. I've had the nox for some time now and bought the legend as an alternative, I've now used it several times and the only reason I still go to the nox is that I know it better. As I get more familiar with the legend I'm sure I will end up switching more regularly between the two. Thanks for a great video.
Just got the Legend for Christmas. Love it. Just wished the speaker was louder. It fine with headphones but without is lacking. Thanks for the info it was very helpful
Great video was just wondering about what settings you use for the Iron filter bottle cap rejection, audio gain, ground suppression, stability etc as they are in the two hidden menus. I know your video is a basic insight and exceptional but be great to get your numbers also for the above list. Fantastic vid👍🏻
Great information, I was considering getting the legend or the nox, but I think the legend is a bit more user friendly and also has a better price point along with the durability of it little brother the simplex. Thanks again. Be blessed and stay safe.

Thanks. This is helpful. I just got a Legend after using a Minelab 540. It is MUCH more complicated. So far I'm loving learning this machine, but there is a learning curve. Would like to know more about the M1, M2 M3 settings and what they are for.
Hi, thanks for the comments. I should have explained the "M" settings in the video. M1is more capable at picking up on the high conductors like silver, copper and bronze. M2 works better at picking up the low conductors like gold, artefacts and billon coins or other similar items. M3 is optimised for wet ground or ground that is highly mineralised and as a result causes the machine to false a lot. it also discriminates all signals under the 10-11 ID range, so items like foil and coke. In the Beach mode you also have "MW & MD" they are for wet sand and dry sand respectively. I tend to mainly use M2 for my settings, it works well in most conditions and hits well on artefacts and hammered coins. To summarise, all the "M" settings use the multi frequency but they adjust your machine for different ground types or metal types. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the video. I have a new Nokta The Legend and the screen has significant burn in from other icons, like it was left on for a month. Is this normal on these? I dont see it on yours
Thank you so much for the great video. It was very informative. Been using the Simplex and recently bought a Legend. I live in Florida and was hoping to get saltwater beach information but that subject wasn't touched on. Was curious of the optimum recovery speed and any other good information. Thanks, Rick
Superb video thanks. New to detecting and just bought a legend so this has been very helpful. Within the recovery option there is also iron filter and stability. Could you explain those please?
I think it’s a great detector but I struggle with sub menus. I was going out with my Deus 2 tomorrow, tried to update it and the remote froze on update. Now I’m forced to learn the legend tonight, lol thanks
In your opinion is this ok for a beginner? Was looking at a vanquish but you seem to get a lot more with the legend for a little more money. Thanks a lot
Absolutely, you can turn it on and go using the factory settings. Or, as you become more familiar with the machine you can then start to delve into the settings a little more.
Hi okay, I’m new to metal detecting and I have a budget of around about £700. I live near the beach so I will be doing detecting down there and I also have been given permission to detect on a farm with a lot of land but it is unploughed land, so my question is what would you buy if it was your money. I’ve narrowed it down to Minelab 800 , quest q60 and this but if you have other suggestions please help me out
Just to mix it up, you now have the choice of the Equinox 700 and 900, the 700 is around your price range too. I will be testing those very soon. If you were choosing between the Q60 and the Equinox 800 (Ive used them both a lot for years now) I would choose the Equinox 800 as it is fantastic on the beach and a great all round machine.
@@HiddenHistoryHuntersDetecting so many to choose from and I get it’s personal preference but when one hasn’t a clue you guys are a god send, so would you not bother with the legend against the others ?
@@paulmcleod1606 the legend is a fantastic all round machine and works well on the beach too. At the moment the Legend is my go to machine. I have a video on here where I compare it to the Equinox 800. With the Equinox 600&800 or new 700&900 or the Legend you won’t go wrong, they are all great machines offering you all the features you need. So it really comes down to preference, do you know anyone with those machines that you can possibly use for a while and see which one you prefer?
@@HiddenHistoryHuntersDetecting YOU are a LEGEND ! just rewatched it and can now see the buttons now it makes so much more sense thank you so much top man !
One setting that is very confusing is the mode the detector is in: A for all-metal, versus G, versus C custom versus F. In your video part way, you switch from G to F without explaining it. I find it very confusing, and after watching other videos and reading the manual, its still unclear. Why bother changing the settings from A to F to G to C if the tone breaks, and other customizations are done using the menu at the bottom? For example why choose F or G when you can select all metal mode, and define your tone breaks and volume to suppress and ignore Ferrous targets and other ranges of VDI's? Or is there another hidden reason to select, say, F versus G instead of A? And does mode C have any purpose if you are going to create lots of tone breaks anyway to suppress what you dont want to hear?
Hi, I don’t think I covered that and probably should have. A- means there is no audio discrimination, so you hear everything, ie all the iron tones and get full target is from 0-69 B- cuts out all iron tones and target ID from 0 -2 F- cuts out all iron tones and target ID, so anything from 0-10 won’t be heard or shown on the target ID. C- Is a custom setting allowing you to set it exactly how you want it. Basically it’s designed to make your machine quieter depending on the setting, A means you hear and see everything, B cuts out some of the lower tones and F cuts out everything under 10. Think of it as a short cut to help you select settings without going into the tone breaks.
Lol i just uploaded to 1.15 and had to go over my settings again... finally got it how i wanted then tried to save the profile but i accidentally did a factory reset...👀🙄😞🤦
This is the best explanation I have seen. I bought a legend last year and have looked at 100s of videos about it. Well done.
