    This song was written after singer Ronnie Van Zant's grandmother passed away. Him and guitar player Gary Rossington were together talking about what their mom's had been telling them how to live life

    The musicianship of the entire band I've always felt has been underated. They were all master class musicians by their late teens. This song has a timeless message that in so many cases is missing in the world today. great reaction vid Jayy.

      Underrated by who may I ask? They are in the rock and roll hall of fame, sold over 30 million records, sold over 2 million of just ringtones of the song “ Sweet Home Alabama”, have had their songs sampled and covered by many other artists, and are one of the most popular and well known rock bands of all time. Who is underrating them???

    Released in 1972 Simple man is considered one of the most emotional rock songs made by Skynyrd written by Van Zant that was based on women giving him advice from his past, it was reworked and inspired by the death of Ronnie Van Zant's grandmother and Gary Rossington's mother allowing them to come together and about them with stories they had and created simple man out of it.

    Near the end of your reaction when you said, okay let me stop and went into your final routine, I was like no don't stop! Man, I love your reaction. I've been a fan of them since I was a little kid and I've been a musician my whole life and those were some of the first looks I learned and I've known these songs forever and a lot of people react to this song. It's that popular but the thing is they have an incredibly rich catalog. And they're not what you think. At all. They were from the south and all that but they introduced ideas about anti-war and not anti-gun so much as just the availability for every dumb shit to be able to grab a 38 special and use it when he gets drunk some night you know these were pioneering ideas back in the 70s in the South man but they were the real deal in their top notch musicians but I love your emotion and your Insight on all this period I can't tell you how many times I cracked up listening to your reaction but also many times were I was borderline Goosebumps going man, she is so insightful. I'm glad you're doing this stuff keep at it please deeply appreciate it love it. I would in a fantasy world love to hang out with you sometime have a couple beers maybe a cup of coffee in the morning eat a sandwich listen to some music and just shoot the shit. I know you would be deep and also hilarious at the same time. I'm glad you're doing these reactions.

    My 40y son misplaced his phone one day, asked me to call his number to see if we could hear/find it...we heard it. My ring tone is set for Simple Man. 😁❤
    Use to sing this to him as a baby, right away he took to it.
    Always been a fav, more meaningful now to me and MY son. 😊
    I like to believe this is gift from Ronnie. ❤

    Their manager hated this song. Told them to stop recording. Singer Ronnie Van Zant escorted him outside and put him in his car and told him they would let him know when they were done recording. Now to put this story in context Ronnie was a fighter and someone you didn't want to mess with. I'm sure Al Kooper was not feeling very safe being escorted outside 😆

    • @salvatorediangelo453

      What I wouldn't give to see that little scene. The manager with the wft? look on his face and Ronnie with that little gleam in his eye that ways "y'all best leave for your own safety!"

    • @freebirdtony
      @freebirdtony 3 года назад

      You sho got that right. Al Kooper had mentioned earlier to Ronnie that he had some pressing business to tend to in New York. So prefacing Ronnie's comment about him letting Al know when they were done, Ronnie says, just head up to New York now and take care of that business.
      Ronnie had a way of persuading people.
      😊✌

      I just watch the documentary on Netflix which is soo good. Ronnie was definitely a tough guy, but in high school would be writing poetry (which of course would turn to lyrics at some point) and talked about how he wrote about simple things that we could all relate to. When they were putting together the band, someone said, "Hey, Ronnie has a pretty good voice - let's ask him." Highly recommend!
