Aurora has said in interviews that when she first started singing she didn't know that she moved so much, but since she's in such a small body it's like the music needs her whole body to do the work lol. so I think its a mixture of technique but also her loving to dance around when performing! I recommend Churchyard live @ KEXP. Also her backing band is a powerhouse for sure, they compliment and work with her so well!
You've been giving us breadcrumbs of reactions and I really do think that it's about time you react to her catalogue! Infections of A Different Kind is my favorite album of hers so you can start there, actually whichever you want (but I prefer that and Step 2 over AMDGMAAF tho). Love your thorough reaction in this one! :))

I've had the great privilege of seeing her perform live,and trust me at the age of 64 i have seen many many concerts,I can honestly say Aurora was head and shoulders above any one I've seen,she was simply spellbinding the quality of her voice wow! She had everyone in the palm of her hands at times you could hear a pin drop as sang with such emotion,she is a very special artist who for me is one of the best singer songwriters I've heard in a long time 10/10 Genius.
I've heard her in an interview say that the hand movements happen naturally because she feels so much energy from the universe pouring through her while she sings that she can't help it.
Just discovered Aurora, Im hooked. Great to see recognition where its deserved. Added to my spotify favs now.

At some point, please react to songs from her live concerts: (1) HAIK 2019, performed in a forest!; (2) KEXP in Iceland; (3) Nidaros Cathedral, with orchestral ensemble and choir; (4) her recent concert with the Bergen Philharmonic!
I second this. HAIK has developed a special place for me, both because I know the forest she is singing in after 25 years of my life in Bergen, but also because she is singing for friends and family (her closest weirdos) - and because the amazing production quality of a recording in a forest. It is also a quick overview of her range (unlike the Nidaros where everything is produced for the venue).
Special mention "through the eyes of a child" at Vivo live.
@@glacieractivity I absolutely second this. The HAIK concert outdoes the Nidaros one for me as I feel it more closely reflects Aurora, and the production is impeccable through and through.
The KEXP Iceland Airwaves performance was the first I saw of her and it hooked me instantly. It's an absolute must watch - the whole thing, as there's some adorable little moments you'll miss if you watch the individual songs. The energy in that performance is unreal, the sound mixing is fabulous, the camera work is stunning - it's just perfect.

Thank you for such a musical review of my favorite artist! I, too, marveled at the delight she expressed at the end of her performance. One of the many attributes that make Aurora great is her ability to immerse herself in the lyrics and the performance. I would hope you will do more analyses of her live performances especially the one in Nidarosdomen (cathedral) in December 2017 with a live choir and orchestra. Or the one this year with the Bergen Philharmonic.
That was a great session, for sure! I always appreciate hearing other professional artists point out "why" my favorite singers affect me the way they do.
It's a funny thing. People wondering if her movements help her voice at all...I don't doubt that it helps to evoke the emotion she's trying to project, but the simple answer is "*~magic~*"

Interesting, she daid she made this song very "catchy-mainstream-pop" as a satiric joke about how monotone the pop industry is for her, and also because the label wanted a couple songs for the radio. I think she really did get the effect and being her, it came out being great.

When Aurora sings she is actually telling a story everytime. She just have to use her whole body.
To me, the beat combined with the rise and fall of the vocals was reminiscent of a hunt. Running, pausing quietly...then running again. The beat was like a heartbeat. Especially right at the end (at least that’s when I picked up on it).
The live version (at Nidarosdomen) of Through The Eyes Of A Child is simply stunning imo.

When I see a live performance where I feel a singer is not "quite there", which is often the case, frankly, I feel compelled to go back and watch Aurora perform live. She is flawless every time. And the fact that so many artists are just unable to be at their best live, much less on a consistent basis is testament to how hard it is, and how special singers like Aurora are.

For this song it's so much better than the original especially in the music video it happening to much in my opinion and i get distract. The video is not bad, but i am apritiate this more. I do honestly not like the original version of this song, but this one with just the cajon and the electric guitar accompanying the 3 voices just makes this song quirky and fun to listen to. i really like this version of the song and i personally would love if she were to make more music in this direction instread of the pop music she generally does.
the only problem with this performance that i can hear is that i think they did a misscalculation on the mixing before recording. the vocals gets a bit overpowered by the guitar from time to time. this is very difficult to get right when the singer has as much dynamic to the vocals as aurora has so i don't really blame them but i still think that the 3 vocals should get bumped up or the guitar getting slightly lowered for it to reach perfection in my ears.
