Thank You! I've been going nuts trying to edit eps files, followed at least a dozen tutorials for inkscape and gimp. Finally, this did the trick. Big thumbs up!
I have to say I almost gave up trying to figure this shit out, until I came across this video. Once you go into advanced settings on my computer I thought for sure I was going to %#&! something up. Nope, it worked. Explaining it slow & calming is what got me through it all, because my nerves were shot! THANK YOU
Thank you so much! You made it very uncomplicated, and easy for someone who is not tech savvy to follow along. It worked. All the other tutorials, including the Inkscape tutorial, just left my head spinning...LOL Thank you for sharing.
Tried this on 20/2/24 and it still worked like a charm, nothing was working and then this guy said just to move the variables upwards and it did the work...
This video was so helpful - many thanks! Irfanview wouldn't open EPS files even though GhostScript was already installed. GIMP did open them but only a solid background (I wanted it to keep the transparency). PaintShop Pro opened them fine but only up to a certain resolution... gave an error message when it was over 1000 pixels high. Then I looked at tutorials for the GhostScript that I already had on my machine and your tutorial nailed it :-)
for people doing this in windows 7, they might see a different window while editing the path in system variables as there is no 'new' button there. instead add semicolon ' ; ' at the end of the string and paste the address.
Great! That’s worked with me Thank you so much.. every step was clear until it came to this step but you helped me! I really appreciate your comment Thank you again 🙏🏼
If you're doing this on windows 7 edit the path and add new paths by pasting the new path after the original by separating each by a semicolon like this. C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files;C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.53.3\bin
it didn't work for me I did everything you said, right now I'm switching up and down the paths but still doesn't work, I get some error about a missing file in my temp files folder
Doesn't work, there is not error anymore but there is nothing visible, already in that import windows where the miniature should be visible there is nothing. Tried to move up the libraries path on the top in system settings - no change. Tried with multiple different *.eps files...
Hey Man, Quick Q, when i click on edit on path in environment variables it just gives me only one option, a box which is already filled with something to do with skype and a name already populated as "Path" im on windows 8.1 and my guess is that the UI isnt the same. It allows me to choose new in the window where you would click edit to then go into the list where you select new and paste the GS path. can i choose new in that window or will it not work? Its like, when i select path and then edit it wants me to edit the path itself? Im not sure man but i need some help if youre around. Thanks, Dan
hey buddy, in case you or anyone else still need the solution for that, the variable values are separated by semi colon (;), so you just need to get to the end of list of variable values (by this point you will notice the semi colons), add a semi colon, copy paste the bin address, add another semi colon, then copy paste the lib address. It worked for me, I hope it helps.
Thank you for posting, this was soooo much simpler than other tutorials I found!
2023 & still works. takes 16 mins to do (I'm cooking oven chips, i'm not a nutter.) Thank you!

4 years in the future - still need to do this - Thanks so much, worked perfectly!
Excellent. 👍This still works for Windows 11, and Inkscape 1.2 and ghostscript 10.01.1 - installed on 20th June 2023
After watching a million videos on RUclips, your's is the one I understood, followed and worked. Thank you.
wow thank you, great video. its so nice of you writing the step by step in the description box, very helpful.
Your tutorial worked perfectly. Tried other tutorials on RUclips without success. Your time and attention to detail is very much appreciated!!!
Thanks for watching 👍
You sir are a champion even 3 years after posting this it is still relevant. Thank you greatly.
Thanks for the tutorial. For Windows 7, the path is one long string. Hit edit, add a semi colon and add the path from lib and bin separately.
Very useful, thanks
This was the third video I tried to help with this topic...and your instructions worked. Thank you!
Great tutorial, straight to the point and very precise! thanks a lot 🙂👍

Perfect and to the point, saved me a lot of time, if I had to figure this out by myself.
