- Edit: This isn’t a serious video guys. I didn’t look into the lore at all for these designs. They’re just brain dump on what I thought they’d look cute in!

I know yall expect something life changing but I didn’t gaf why they were wearing what they were wearing while I drew this 😂 no deep dives, no lore. I just drew what I thought looked cute as an outfit and who would look good in it, not for practicality. Thanks to all who support me on my art journey! Be nice! This was my first redesign video ❤☺️

If ya wanna redesign Muchiro, his uniform was oversized on purpose, so it'd be harder to tell what his next move would be like when your in a cloud of mist or fog:]
For muichiro too have oversized clothes is because he is fast while using his breathing style but with baggy clofhes it make him look like he is moving slower than he actually is and also can i just point out the elephant in the room how was gyokko blinded by the mist even tho breathing styles can not be seen like hello
The reason why Muichiro wears over oversized clothes is because its to disguise his movements like the breathing style Mist breathing which is to make unpredictable movements 😭

Funfact about mitsuris Haori , Rengoku actually gave it too her back when he wasn’t a hashira and had a plain white haori so they could match! I actually really liked your mitsuri redesign she looks adorable!

I never really minded the multi-hair color thing they did with most characters tbh. Also, rengoku is the FIRE hashira so his hair makes sense
i dont really enjoy animes that have characters with super bright hair and stuff but thats just my preference. when it's in animes marketted for younger audiences then i don't care but kny isnt, y'know?

Mitsuri was DEFINATLY a step up. The heard window at least makes sense with her theme and looks cute. I love your version of her. I can't get over the gaping hole in her original design. How are you gonna have it dysfunctional AND ugly like that??? Pick a struggle please.
Honestly how women are designed in animes has made me drop quite a few. Including popular ones. Because when the design is bad 9/10 times the writing for them is too.
I also liked Muichiro aside from the hat. The hat just feels off to me but can't say why. LOVED the rest of it though.
I do also hate Kyojuro's design in general. The whole flame thing feels a little to on the nose in his original design. I like that you pointed out the eyebrow and hair color thing because that always bothers me as well. But they made it a whole family trait(that completely overrides the moms genetics I GUESS?????). I think your design was a step in a better direction. Because honestly couldn't they have just gave the family blond hair with a red tone for shadows to IMPLY the flame thing better? Sometimes less is more in a design.
And I KNOW they gave him those bangs because fire. But every time I see them looks like he gonna fly away on them.

I agree that Rengoku should’ve gotten something from his mom but there’s also a canon reason that the Rengoku men have the same hair (it being a whole pregnancy ritual)

I do agree that in anime women are sexualized, especially in demon slayer, but the reason Mitsuri has that whole in her chest-area; is due to a pervy kakaushi who designed the outfits. The kakushi who made Mitsuris outfit also tried to give the outfit to Kanao and Shinobu, but Shinobu set the uniform on fire and had her uniform remade, demon slayer used this as an excuse for Mitsuri keeping the outfit, but at least they came up with a reason she was sexualized.
And the reason Rengoku doesn't take any features from his mom is due to a pregnancy ritual that involves all the pregnant women starting at a fire for over an hour (???) and it caused all the men in the village to have flame colored hair. Though I do think it would be cool if Rengoku got some features from his mom! (What's the reason I know all of this you ask? I'm a manga reader...)

I definitely liked Rengoku's, I feel that the fact that his skin is a little more exposed is reasonable because he is the flame hashira, he is probably dying of heat under all those clothes, but both Muichiro's and Mitsuri's designs have some problems that come more with the data and the lore.
Muichiro wears loose, adult clothing because of his breathing, not only so he can have more mobility but also so that the enemy cannot recognize his next move. Although the hat did not convince me, I feel that the uniform is quite cool, you gave him more personality.
The only thing I regret about Mitsuri's design was her cute stockings, since these were a gift from Obanai, but I feel that maybe Obanai instead of just buying them he just paid extra for some person to made them in a more personally way, which would make the hearts feel more reasonable, which I find even more cute!
Tbh I like your redesigns but Mitsuri and muichiro og design make sense bc his clothes r support to help him as it makes it harder for demons to notice him and Mitsuri is suppose to be this insecure girl who feels like she has to be out at the beauty standards so she could be loved so her outfit kinda makes sense bc she doesn’t wanna wear it but she wants to be at the general beauty standards😭

Fun fact, (not trying to be mean in any way!) Mitsuris hair is also green because that is the leaf part of the Sakura mochi so it would make sense why it would also be green at the bottom of her hair!

Not necessarily the style, the style aight ig, but the color combo is such a good base,, it could've been a better blend like a nice pink to green ombre or sumthin, but it's got such good potential,,,

The Rengokus all look the same because of a ritual the moms do while pregnant! That’s what gives them the hair!
The reason they look “ugly” is because its a uniform. Also the author had to draw them multiple times and wanted a simple yet memorable design. While in some aspects it could be improved, but saying its ugly and that you fixed it next to a professional artist is just egotistical. In many ways genya was definitely NOT an improvement, not only did you change his scar you changed his whole damn look. He looks like he’d be travelling with the last airbender.
But misturi is just 👌👌 *chef kiss*. But she looks more beautiful than cute, the original design was made to look almost innocent which corresponds to her personality. Although the new one is gorgeous i think the previous is more fitting

I agree, but I find that the Mitsuri one is also not great, she changed the color of the socks which were a gift and the shoes which don't correspond to what most character use in the anime plus Mitsuri's hair color is so iconic so why did she not include it 😭, and also Tokito's baggy clothes literally help him perform better. The video was really just for esthetics and coolness only instead of actually redesigning the characters in a way that would fit the setting of the anime or the character's backstory and personality.
I think the uniform comment misses the point of the homogenized bug-eyes, Pinocchio noses, protruding foreheads, and beak-shaped lips. Calling Gotouge a professional artist is pretty generous, as Ufotable did a lot of heavy lifting to make the sloppy source material look as good as it does. I agree with your comment on Genya, but I don't think it looks bad.
@@andymcclurg9916 That's a style. And if someone makes money off of art and has experienced it in the field, even if you don't think they're good, that makes them a professional artist. The noses aren't even long, I personally love the style of the eyes, the "beak" lips actually represents the dip that people have in front of their lips (some more prominent than others), the protruding forhead bit is so the face is better defined from a side angle. But overall its a style my guy, there are worse out there.
Rengoku’s bangs are NOT simple. It had to take forever to draw his bangs right. Mitsuri’s outfit is blatant fanservice and Muichiro’s hair should’ve been tied up.
I’m not a fan of the bang she gave Rengoku, but Gotouge’s designs aren’t perfect, some of them miss the point of the character.

i'm usually positive about people's redesigns but i can't say the same thing about this one. from my pfp, you can tell i'm a kny fan and this was... a hard watch. it felt like you have sucked off their whole personalities out of them. do you research the characters before redesigning them? one quick google search would answer a lot of your questions. the designs are nice but they don't feel like demon slayer characters. i know it's your type of commentary but your tone just felt kind of mocking to me?
(0:50) i would guess that was Gotouge's point. there are panels that show hashira's opinions on eachother and muichiro compares rengoku to an owl.
(10:24) he is wearing shoes, they're called 地下足袋 (Jikatabi).
(11:46) it's fine to dislike it but it's a style choice. just like gege makes random lines that make his characters have nice flowy hair.
for mitsuri, i don't think you quite understand her character. her uniform is obviously fanservice but it's also because she's a people pleaser, she couldn't stand up for herself like shinobu did. the heart shaped window is a great touch and i like that. the haori (jacket) and the green socks are very dear to her, they're gifts. what you said about her hair is kind of the point of her character...

Sorry girl, it seems kind of like you didn't do much research on the meaning behind like any characters designs 😭
Especially the part where you said it had bad same face syndrome, there's differences in proportions, eye shapes, positioning, it seems kind of like a surface level 3 second look at 2-d characters, in 3-d the subtle differences in their faces would be much more noticeable.
And about the darker skinned Asians, it's because the show is written to be in the setting of Japan, one of the lighter skinned countries in Asia, and it set early 1900s, where the beauty standard was *light* skin for women. And the thing with dark skinned, demons, there was like Hantengu and no one else except maybe one background character because of demons not being able to go into sunlight, their skin is inhumanly light, like the actual color white. I also, imagine that when not in training most demon slayers, spend the day sleeping as most missions are at night because the demons don't go out during the day, which also result in the demon slayers having lighter skin, it would also depend on how much sun they got and how long they were outside during the day before they became a demon slayer.
With Mitsuri, I'm glad that you acknowledged why her hair was pink and green, but it wouldn't make sense to change her hair to only include part of the eaten food, and the hole on her shirt is due to a pervy demon slayer corps tailor who first made it to where it couldn't be closed around her breasts and secondly told her that that was how it was supposed to be worn. It's good that you kept her socks, because they were a gift, from her [future] lover Obanai, so she'd have more skin covered, because it was dangerous to fight with that much of her body exposed, due to the uniforms main purpose being to protect from a lot more than normal clothes could.
With Muichiro, he doesn't really have the basic Uniform, the ends of the legs and arm sleeves, normally have an elastic that makes it sorta poof out before being skin tight at the cuffs, they changed Muichiro's to not have the elastic so it flow with his movements which is part of the reason why it looks oversized, because it's not bound by the elastics, the other park is to hide his body movements so he flows like mist while fighting demons. It's a similar reason for why his hair is long and stays down, I believe.
I don't have much to say about Rengoku other than you removing the flame like style or his hair, and just changing it to be yellow and red.
I literally have nothing to say about Genya.

love the redesigns i think their wonderful! but i feel major parts of the characters were kinda removed, like Mitsuri was supposed to have bright hair, its the reason why she was so insecure and treated differently, i love the way you drew her tho but just a reminder lol that most japanese characters in demon slayer are very light skinned as it was how they viewed beauty in that period ( the edo period i think and beauty was just as important as status ) lol so that just explains why theyre mostly pale not to mention why most anime characters are pale lol also
Muichiros uniform was all big because it disguises his movements because he uses mist breathing tho i do like the detail of making his brothers haori ( or shawl ( im terrible at spelling but ik what it is haha ) ) into a belt like sash kinda like how giyuu sew his sisters and sabitos haoris together. i dont agree with some of the changes but the art you made of them are pretty cool! and your take on teh redesigns are nice!

Those shoes the hashira wear are clogs, I believe anyways, they're a traditional type of Japanese shoes, also the cape like jackets are called a Haori, you can Google more traditional era clothes for more information as I believe demon slayer is set in a traditional era of Japan.
Demon slayer is set in the taisho era which is between 1912-1926

I love all the original designs but your redesigns were awesome and I genuinely agree with some of the choices you made with the designs.

(Not so) fun fact! The reason Mitsuri wears such a revealing uniform is because the kakushi that made it for her was really pervy, and mitsuri kept the uniform because she couldn’t manage to burn it. (The Same kakushi who gave mitsuri her uniform tried to do the same with shinobu and kanao, but shinobu burnt it in front of him lol)
Mitsuris hair wouldn’t bother me if they made the outline of the pink hair a slightly darker pink like they did with the green 😭 the green feels out of place since it’s not outlined in black/the pink isn’t outlined with a darker pink! One of my teachers told me that her daughter died her hair like mitsuris and oh my god- it looked AMAZING!! The green isn’t the problem, the black outline over the pink hair is the problem lol! (They could also just outline the hair in a light grey color and it’d look better than black!)
I like the redesigns! The only one that I really don’t like is genya because of the hair 😭he just look weird. And I just want to point out that all this characters are Japanese so they don’t really have most of range of skin color. But it is still a cool change that complements the characters
She's saying it's not fair how the bad guys (demons) are dark skinned. I mean there's not a single dark skinned demon slayer. Plus hantengu is dark skinned

Heya! Just an important detail for Muichiro's kimono : The left part must go over the right part, because the way you drew it is for deceased people. And the nichirin blade is non-negotiable for Rengoku. Demons cannot be slayed with anything but nichirin as it is made from a type of metal that is exposed to the sun all year round.
