- I always enjoy switching from one driving mode to the other when driving in city or on the highway. Each one has their own advantages and disadvantages. It also depends on your driving style and the city your driving into. Hope you'll have a good understanding of there if you already have a GTE or planning to get one. Drive safe!
E mode - suitable for city driving
Hybrid auto - suitable for weekend
Battery hold - suitable for long distance, going to another city so battery can be used later
GTE - suitable for steep hill climbs
thank you for this video i just bought a gte the previous week and couldnt figure out what the differentces where between the driving modes also it was using up alot of gas cuz i had it put in battery charge but thats not worth it. ty hopefully i can do better than 1L every 13km
In answer to your question at 16:50. Yes the word would be 'stiffen'. It 'stiffen's up the steering. or you could say it 'tightens the steering'. Good video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I am still at two minds on if to get a GTE or a TDI :\

I dont have that menu on my screen, and only 3 modes(e mode, hybrid, battry charge) + gte. How come? Mine is from 2016.

Hey goede video! Heel duidelijk! Maar ik zit met een vraag. Ik heb een GTE uit het jaar 2017. Wanneer ik de auto in battery hold mode zet. Gebruikt hij toch nog een klein beetje stroom van de accu. Ook wanneer ik op de snelweg rijdt en gaat mijn actieradius dus alsnog naar beneden. Is dit normaal?
Its a shame you cant switch between different modes without using the screen. My screen stops working everytime its cold, so only options are battery hold, GTE or eMode. I dont understand why hybrid auto isnt the standard setting instead of battery hold..
You must not charge in the city. Of course the consumption will be high. I have passat GTE and on battery hold it has 7l/100km consumption without charging from plug. And if I charge on the highway, it consumes 8,5l/100km. And the battery is fully charged in 80km or so. So I can charge full battery for less than 1,5 litres of gas, which is 3 euro. And charging at home costs 2 euros, and charging at station costs 6 euros. So the charge mode is quite cheap if you use it smart. If I charge on the highway and then drive on EV in the city, I get around 5-6l/ combined consumption. If I charge at home and drive on hybrid I get 2-3l/100km. Or 0l only on EV, but thats only 30-40km range.
Is "battery charge" the only way to prevent the start stop operation and keep the engine running?
No. The engine will stop at low speed and at traffic lights anyway.
I m interested in what are the possibilities if i have to drive about 35 to 38 km single trip to work wich is about 85% highway.
Am i correct that i can do a big portion of that fully electric with the GTE ?

Does this car have another electric battery not the one that can be seen when you lift the bonnet I mean like another more expensive one? Also if I was to buy this car and park it up for 4months without starting it what do you recommend I do with the car.
The car has a regular 12 volt battery, and a huge drive battery for the electric motor. You can use a charging cable to charge the drive battery without using any fuel. If you leave the car parked for several months, the drive battery will probably have lost some of its charge, but the car will still move.

Misschien een domme vraag maar ik heb ook een GTE uit 2015 maar ik heb niet dat hybride tab naast de e manager staan en ik heb de optie battery hold niet eens.. moet ik mijn Discovery pro updaten ?
Hi Nick. Thanks for the comment. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that your OS is the updated version of mine, as battery hold was removed from newer versions.

Yes, it uses all the 204 hp. But if you let go of the gas, it will charge.
Nu vreau sa spun o rautate, dar e absolut normal ca consumul sa creasca cand alegi modul de incarcare, doar aplici efort asupra motorului termic sa incarce bateria electricului. Consumul de carburant va fi mai mare intotdeauna (raportat la celelalte moduri), dar diferenta scade daca mergi cu o viteza optima, poate un 80-90, si intr-o treapta mai mica, gen a 4-a, cand motorul termic nu are o sarcina prea mare mentinand viteza, dar o turatie mare care ajuta sa incarce bateria mai repede.
Putin exagerat "I'll never ever ever use this mode again", arata ca nu intelegi prea bine cum e cu modurile astea sau cu masina si scopul ei.
Iar legat de probleme, ca intreba cineva, ori ne minti, ori nu mergi cu ea. VW fara probleme e ca coca cola 0, greu de crezut ca exista dar gust naspa cand o incerci (SDI-urile erau cat-de-cat fiabile, dar lente ca lunea dimineata).
Hey onzaueb, multumesc pentru comentariu. Corect si foarte bine argumentat. Sunt de acord, este normal sa creasca consumul in Battery charge. Am filmat clipul in primele luni de când am avut masina, de-atunci am inteles mai bine cum funtioneaza fiecare in parte. Legat de problemele cu ea, probabil ca nu sunt cel mai bunexemplu de 10.000 km pe an, dar si vremurile sunt asa cum sunt, nu prea ai unde sa călătorești. Inca o data, multumesc pentru comentariu, mi-a facut plăcere.
Cred ca ce a vrut sa transmita ca acest mod nu are sens pentru el avand in vedere ca are optiunea de a incarca masina cand nu o foloseste. Modul de incarcare este util in momentul cand pleci dintr-un oras in altul si trebuie sa folosesti motorul termic oricum. Consumul creste cand trebuie sa pui masina in miscare de pe loc, e mai eficient sa folosesti hibrid in oras si termic la drum lung. Ar fi fost util optiunea de a alege intensitatea de incarcare, astfel in functie de drum se poate optimiza raportul consum/incarcare.
Als je op de gte stand zet gebruik je dan ook meer benzine?
Thanks for your comment. No, it doesn't use more gasoline. The difference is that both engines work in the same time and it allows you to go into the Boost area on the screen.
@@Drivewithme1 dat is niet helemaal waar. In GTE stand verbruik je daadwerkelijk veel meer benzine dan als je in hybride modus rijdt. Denk aan 1/14 in GTE en 1/20 in hybride.

@@iNouut heb je ook gte? Hoeveel km kan je totaal rijden met een volle tank. Ik zelf ong 300/(350) net aan vind het wel weinig...
@@cemfirat3367 ik heb een GTE ja, ik rijd als ik rustig wan doe in de hybride stand wel 800km op een tank maar als ik een beetje geniet kom ik niet hoger dan 400
