    The NeverEnding Quest of trying to achieve more power from an engine. I guess some people are never content with just cruising on a Harley Davidson.

    It was very cool to watch and for you to make positive comments on the valves KT. When I tore my heads down,,, I was pleasantly surprised to see the valves and the seats still in nice enough shape with some cleaning,,, after 25,000. same make valves in my 2010. It was a bit of a challenge even with my moosey valve spring compressor that I bought to fight with them killer springs.. I assembly lubed the hell out of them stems...Side note I am still running the break-in oil,,, KT that you recommended... I am also plesantly surprised at this point how quiet the top end is... still some more miles to go before i pop out the Driven break in oil...

      don't keep the break-in oil too long. it does not have the long term rust and detergent protection in the oil. it is good for a month of so but not forever.

    585 isn’t bad in a 110, used that can a couple times. I really like the 255 CVO cams they come with though if only the hardening would stay on.

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  4 года назад +5

      yes, any harley factory cam is made out of junk material and should never be used. stay with the aftermarket parts because they are made out of good metal.

    Will doing head work produce more low to mid range power or is it mostly all top end power gains?

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  11 месяцев назад +1

      it deppends on what you are doing. its all about the combination you want for your application. every job i do is customize for the customers application.
      keep the ports smaller for lowend power and clean up all the crap that the air has to go around to get into and out of the cylinder. the bigger you go, the higher the power band will be at the expense of the lowend power. its very hard to make big gains everywhere.

    It a shame you have to send new Harley performance parts to a quality machine shop to get the ultimate performance out of them! I would save some intial cost and send my stock heads to tatro for his magic touch.

    • @vtwinbuilder3129
      @vtwinbuilder3129 4 года назад

      Alan Lamb you’d be better off doing that anyways unless you really wanted those big valves.

    • @vtwinbuilder3129
      @vtwinbuilder3129 4 года назад +1

      Even then Tatro could put bigger valves on your stock castings while he’s at it too.

  • @terahz1
    @terahz1 4 года назад

    Would you get better results with building stock heads over the SE heads overall?

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  4 года назад +2

      probably. you would have a more uniform port and valve sizing for the street.

    Why wouldn’t they use a 1.8 runner with those valves?

      Tatro Machine fair enough haha
      It’s weird though because atleast some of the CVO’s and those SE “Stage” kits come with larger throttle body bores and throttle plates but the runners are still stock diameter.
      I’m pretty sure that all the factory built 110’s came with a larger diameter TB than the standard 96/103 engines. So they were making a special part anyways, atleast for sure one they moved to throttle by wire and the intake and TB become one solid casting.
      I’m sure it saved them a buck somewhere. Just hard to understand because every part of those castings is different than a standard TC head anyway. Why not make one more special part for the sake of performance on a so called high performance engine.

  • @vtwinbuilder3129
    @vtwinbuilder3129 4 года назад

    You should knock some material off those things to shrink the chambers. 110’s are weak on compression stock.

      Tatro Machine I’ve never had to deal with Cali fuel. Only the stuff we get in the Midwest, I know they have two fuel blends for warm and cold weather seasons.
      You gotta go out of your way to find gas without ethanol here too.

    • @bendaves77

      @@vtwinbuilder3129 I'm from Illinois and here the shell gas stations usually have 93 Octane with no ethanol

    • @vtwinbuilder3129
      @vtwinbuilder3129 4 года назад

      Ben Daves yeah that’s where we go! That or Mobil’s also sometimes have the 93 non ethanol. It’s not a huge deal so maybe I overstated it but you can’t just pull into any gas station and get it anymore. That’s what I should’ve said.

    I’m confused about the throttle body comment.
    You got a 58mm opening but goes to Two 45mm openings.. that’s not restricting you. That’s 58mm to 90mm

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  Год назад +1

      lets make it simple. your toilet has a 10" opening and than goes down to less than a 2-1/4" hole. than it goes into a 3" or 4" pipe. now after drop a big turd into it what plugs up. the 10" hole, the 2-1/4" hole or the 3-4" pipe? you get the point, it plugs up at the restrictive 2-1/4" hole. now lets put a 12" bowl on top. what plugs up now. you got it, the same restriction we had before. if you want to pass bigger turds you need to up the restriction, not the nonrestrictive things. got it.
