- This is a video for the removal of the water pump 1982 Chevy c10 with a 6.2 liter diesel engine. This is likely an all day project. You'll need a mix of Standard and Metric tools. I edited the video down to show the key moments of the process and bolt locations. I will cover everything leading up to the water pump removal including removal of the radiator shroud, the radiator fan, the alternator and belt, loosening the power steering pump and ac compressor to remove their belts, the water crossover on top of the engine, and of course the water pump itself. if you found this video useful, please like the video and subscribe to the channel to help the channel grow and continue to provide useful information for Square Body C10 enthusiasts.

Thanks
You're welcome!
Thanks for the video! I watched it before I changed one on a 92. It went great.
Wow. How similar was the 92 to my 82 on the video?
There's a redesigned coolant crossover pipe on the '92 that blocks access to a bolt on the timing cover, so the whole crossover has to be removed, along with the thermostat housing. Instead of the V belts, it has a single serpentine with a tensioner, mounted above the water pump. My alternator is on the opposite side from yours. Also there was an extra weird bracket for the power steering pump that had to come off, but the pump could stay on.
Otherwise it was pretty similar to yours.
Yeah that's 10 years difference so I'm not surprised. I'm glad the video helped you anyway.
Good video, I am getting ready swap mine because the bearing seized up from sitting dry for a year.
Thank you! I hoped it would help someone have a clearer idea of what steps to take.
Oof. I've done it once before - 7 years ago - and hoped I'd never have to do it again. Big thanks for refreshing my memory on how much of a PITA this is... and also how how much disdain I have for automotive engineers.
Long live the square bodies 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Lol engineers are my favorite. Glad I could refresh your memory!
Music sounds like Deadmau5 or daft punk
Yeah it was some free music. Thought it would fill the background on the long video.
