Cannot understand why only Paperwhite edition has that warmth settings. This should be a standard function as it is in every mobile phone, so your eyes do not getting tired.
Yes that's what I thought about it but I think i gonna get it's it's a Nice deal and I have already 600 book's and maybe don't need to have anyone as book 😅
I don’t get why they put the power button on the bottom after everyone on RUclips rightly pointed out it was a bad choice. Half the time when I try to prop up mine it turns itself off.
That's so frustrating hey. Sounds dumb that they thought it was a good idea... Its like they don't listen to their consumers when doing something like that.
Just ordered a 11th gen Paperwhite off Amazon as they have a sale going. $99 for a 16gb to replace a 3rd gen Kindle that I bought all the way back in 2012. It was still working great but I really wanted the ability to read without a reading lamp in bed. Kept hoping the 3rd gen would break so I could upgrade but it never had any issues so I kept using it. Amazon quickly accepted the trade-in for 20% discount off the new one and instantly added $15 to my gift card balance Very easy process. Can't wait to start reading on the Paperwhite. Thanks for this review.
$99 for an 16GB 11th gen Paperwhite is a deal! Waiting for them to go on sale as I have no hurry to buy one. Paperwhite is currently at $170 w/o ads and 16GB.
While I do genuinely prefer the basic model because I LOVE everything about it (small, affordable, basic utilitarian design, simple no nonsense features) I think I might get the paper white simply for the warm light. I love warm light so much that I literally have it on 24/7 on all my devices.
Thanks for the review! I love my 2019 Kindle but felt like 167 dpi screen is relatively grainy (and it's noticeable) and having the last micro-usb charged device in house is already a minor annoyance. I probably would've picked 2022 Basic, but in the end it all comes down to the price - Amazon started selling Certified Refurbished 11 gen Paperwhite for 89$ and 2022 Basic sells for 99$. I don't expect these prices would go any lower for Black Friday, so Paperwhite just looks like a better deal.
Okay, hoping they release a 6" Kindle with a sunken screen with warm light and all back colors available asap. Still a bit bitter they released the blue and green for the PW5 a year after its release.
Great review man! I was thinking about returning my basic one and getting a paperwhite instead, but I think I'll stick with the entry level kindle for now. Nothing in the paperwhite is telling me I should upgrade.
Thank you, that‘s what I wanted to hear/see. I‘m going with the Kindle Paperwhite, especially because of the reason that I can adjust the screen light and also read at night 🌙
Thank you! Straight to the details, I really don't like glaring and that's way more annoying than the lack of warm light. I usually enjoy reading with a similar feel of a real book, so I usually turn off the light completely and use other sources (natural or lamps).
I have the Kindle Paperwhite bundled cover and the bottom button has got hit once or twice by accident but when I AM actually holding the Kindle and reading I don't really think there is a much better spot for it, the sides would both be knocked very easily and even the top, maybe if I read without a case though I would have a better idea of where that should be. I wish the entry level Kindle was actually a Paperwhite Mini with the same exact everything but the smaller size. I'm fairly petite and I also have arthritis, the smaller version would work great for my hands as it's not a one hand device for me, but the color change is absolutely necessary for me as I suffer from migraines. Maybe I'll get the entry level just for size, but I do hope they consider dropping it and switching to a Mini
The size and weight would be a deciding factor for me. The ability to put it even in your jeans back pocket is just the ultimate portable advantage. So the question is what does the term "paperwhite" mean anymore as an advantage?
Was leaning towards a boox ereader since I read a lot of ebups and didn't want to do convert/calibre or email to Kindle but just found out I can just share my epub file to Kindle and it's immediately in my library 🤯 so now I've decided on a Kindle 😂. Your vids are helping me figure out which one. Thanks
@@fruitycola5090 I go to the file of the epub/book I want to share and then just hit the share button in the menu. It gives the option to share to Kindle and it goes straight to the Kindle. That's it ☺️ Google it if you need a better explanation.
With the Boox ereader, you can run any ereader app. Plus, if you have books on the Kindle app, it will show up in the native Neo Reader, which is a really excellent reader.
I have just bought both the kindle paperwhite and the kindle 2022. I am surprised to say that I actually cannot say which I prefer. The kindle paperwhite has great battery life, a bigger screen (which comes with its disadvantages) and not much more that I could notice in comparison to the other. The kindle 2022 also comes with a great battery life (not as great as the paperwhite though), and a great screen. If the price was a big deal for you, then go and take the kindle 2022 as there is not too much between them. As for me, considering they were both my first kindle, I can say that they are both amazing and I am enjoying them a lot.
The warm light of the paperwhite would be the only advantage, but every other aspect favors the basic edition for me. I like the smaller size, the lighter weight, because I usually put it into my pants rear pocket when I´m on the go. I even like the bezel of the frame, it caters more to my asthetics - and the less glare surface is even an advantage in bright sun (?). I don´t mind the cheaper material of the casing (to me the blue one looks much cheaper than the black one), but the much smaller price tag does it for me. Thank you very much for this detailed comparison 🙂
I don't really care for the warm light on my PW. The deal breaker for not getting the Basic was no "disable touchscreen". I read a lot while lying in bed and I hold the screen while lying down. That function is definitely one I use every night. If the Basic had that one feature, I would have saved myself some money and gone with the basic.
I have both. Basic is way better because of the size and weight. Rubber degraded in less than 2 years for paper white and it is out of warranty already.
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT video + voiceover format. i want to look and feel the device operation but also listen to what you're saying. thanks so much for your amazing video! good job!

Just bought the basic now and I have the pw11 and I wish the basic had the page turn animation and warm light but I guess bc it’s just entry level and basic, I guess they see those two as better features and would rather have them on the more premium kindle? 🤔
I speculate that the 2022 Basic is using the screen from the 2015 Paperwhite. Amazon hasn’t told us so this is only speculation, but the 2021 Paper while is likely using the Carta 1200 screen. If that’s the case then 2022 Basic is incapable of doing the page turn animation. The Kid’s Edition is only ad-free while in Kid Mode. As soon as you take it out of Kid Mode you’ll get ads. That’s a very recent change.

Kind of. They don't have regular TTS like older Kindles; they have VoiceView instead: blog.the-ebook-reader.com/2018/11/14/how-to-use-text-to-speech-on-kindles-using-voiceview-video/
Scratches show how clumsy you are. The paperwhite is a no no for me with that bezel and that horrible soft feel which ends up becoming sticky. I don't know why manufacturers continue to use it. My kindle from last year doesn't have dark mode which is the only reason I'd upgrade, but I won't because that's what amazon wants me to do. There's absolutely no reason why it can't be done on my model amongst other features.
Give me a bezel-less e-ink reader with a screen the same size and aspect ratio as a trade paperback, so I can hold the margins of the page, like we do when reading an actual book. Pagination afforded with a gentle pressure squeeze anywhere along any margin. Find Kindle displays far too small (literally smaller than some phones) and Kindle Scribe has stupidly big bezels, and I don't want nor need a pen-give me money off instead. I want a large book reader exclusively for reading books that feels like a book-none of them do! I don't need any pen or note taking features. I have a pen and paper for note taking and iPads are far more powerful for reading documents and note taking than the Scribe is. Someone make a good e-Ink reader, please. The kind of reader that would make those who prefer paper books want it. That's what I want. Not these tiny calculator screens we have now. And get rid of that obnoxious Kindle logo on the front chin.

Kind of. They don't have regular TTS like older Kindles; they have VoiceView instead: blog.the-ebook-reader.com/2018/11/14/how-to-use-text-to-speech-on-kindles-using-voiceview-video/
@@TheeBookReader thanks for reply. Is it turning pages by itself?
Why the 1 minute time difference if bothering 😅
Scratches show how clumsy you are. The paperwhite is a no no for me with that bezel and that horrible soft feel which ends up becoming sticky. I don't know why manufacturers continue to use it. My kindle from last year doesn't have dark mode which is the only reason I'd upgrade, but I won't because that's what amazon wants me to do. There's absolutely no reason why it can't be done on my model amongst other features.
super useful.
Holy cow these things are still so incredibly slow for the price. They need to triple the ram or reduce the price.
you're reading text not watching a movie 😂
Love you babe, thanks.

Power button on the bottom always the pain in the ... @ss
All of the electronics are in the bottom half of the device.
Really wish I found this before purchasing the regular kindle. Didn’t know it didn’t have a warmth setting. 🫠
Paperwhite better but kindle is more portable
This is how a review should be done. Straight to the point and detailed as heck.
