Ian Wright is a national treasure. Seeing him talk so honestly and openly about his recent bereavements is a lesson to us all in humility and humanity. God bless you Wrighty.

He’s so unrelenting though at times, if it was any two other people you’d think it was bullying, if I were Gary I’d tell him to f uck off for the laugh 😂
I like Roy. But l think he he’s wrong about this. The act on stage invites Gary up, the crowd as far as l can tell don’t complain and Gary enjoys himself. What’s not to like? Roy is just trying to dictate what Gary should or shouldn’t do. He’s crossing the bullying line.
Does lighting someone up like a firecracker mean bullying them?? A good psychiatrist would be able to tell us why everything Gary does and says is up for ridicule. If confronted I'm sure Roy would say its "banter" which is what cowards say.
Wrighty is right about grief , it never leaves you , it might not pop up for months , but then something can happen that reminds you of something and the pain is just as bad as it was when you lost the person. I lost my mom and dad within a year of each other 5 years ago , and I can talk about them and remember them with people , but I can be at home watching TV and something unexpected will remind me of them and I'm grieving again, and it becomes a rabbit hole of grief for a while , your mind seems to drag you into thinking more things , the worst is the never seeing them again thought , I'm 51 and that thought of never seeing mom and dad again is frightening, for a few seconds you feel like a child and scared , it's a very strange feeling. Until it happens you never understand what grief is , its one of the hardest emotions about living I think , break ups or losing a job or whatever is tough , but losing a loved one is permanent, there is no fixing the problem in a year or whatever. I felt for wrighty as he was talking , sometimes it helps to talk about it with people.
You've hit the nail on the head. Lost dad 2 years ago, mum 6 weeks ago and if I think about never seeing them again I panic. Reading your post has helped. Thank you ❤
If you are not regretting anything you have done to them, even as a teenager, you will have only grief to handle. Think of people that live on to regret their past behaviour. I lost my parents within 6 months of each other as one could not bear to live without the other; 7 years ago. Nothing we can do. My case is not the worse as they had a very good life. It will never be taken away from them, ever.
Wrighty talking about how losing family and friends catches you after it has happened, sometime after is so true, and it can be the smallest thing that can catch you and the grief is there but few understand ❤
