Hi Ruth! I do none of those thing. I use unstarched fabric with fusible called Heat n Bond LITE (ONLY LITE not the other weights). I have a book on how to do this with step by step photos and ALL my tips. at amzn.to/3nTMoLF I also have videos at my youtube channel ruclips.net/user/patsloan come join me!
Thank you so much for this very easy explanation about which blanket stitch is best and why. I am amazed at how many different blanket stitches there are. My Ellisimo Gold 2 had a lot and now that have the Solaris 2 there are more! I, like you, prefer a nice clean stitch when I do applique. Thank you for showing us which stitch you use and the width and length. Its the perfect size stitch
Thank you so much! I have a babylock Symphony and love it. I am going to tackle appliqué now. Have had my machine since 2012 and never tried to do this. Wow!
If my memory is correct, hold your presser foot up and press your foot control a few times. How I did it before all of these computerized machines. But you probably already figured this out, since your comment was a year ago.🙂
So glad to fine an appliqué demo on a Crescendo! Thank you!

How did you handle the fabrics that you appliqué? Have they been starched? Have you used a light interfacing? Have you used Steam-a-seam?

Great coaching!
Great tutorial
Thank you! So thoroughly explained 😊
Good tutorial, thank you. Learned a lot!
Would like to see this stitch on the Babylock Brilliant, as the choices show too many straight stitches before it swings into the applique.
Thank you!!
I love this tutorial....it is a terrific supplement to your book :)
Is it possible to turn off the noise? Other than that, very nice features for appliqué.
Thank you so much for this
Thanks so much for this tutorial.
Thank you for that
During the sewing process does your needle pick up glue from the webbing on the applique?
If you don’t have a locking stitch what do you do?
donna cook I thought all machines had a locking stitch, even ancient ones, maybe I’m wrong

Does the appliqué have to be fused to the fabric first before stitching around it?
Hi Martha! Yes, fusing the applique down first will keep in place while you sew. Thanks for asking! :)
Mine has speed control
I have the book
I need to get an open toe foot
The only problem with this is the cost of this beautiful machine 😩 I might have to sell a kidney to buy one lol but I love your tutorial! Thank you
Ive bought a brand new janome sewing machine 740dc
Perfect tutorial... NOW i know why i get a v in my stitch!
Colleen Holt show me your stitching!
How do you not get a v stitch.
I hate mine on my Elna three stitches at the top, one for the bottom one, so ugly! So I do another one that sort of looks like it
My machine has a snap on foot
😍😍😍
When applique, you start from behind, so the petal is behind, not the circle, that is the last one to go around...!
😘👍🏻❤
