Although I'm sure Madhouse has done series that come out in seasons before (Overlord comes to mind) it's just very rare for them to make sequels of things. I think the reason they passed over making a season 2 of OPM is because they felt they couldn't have done it properly (pacing wise and animation wise) with the budget they had available. And quite frankly, I don't see how some of the things to come in S2 or an eventual S3 can be well animated without an insane fucking budget. Murata (the guy that draws the manga) just set the bar way too fucking high.
That's not the reason. It was scheduling. A lot of people were contracted to work on the series. Instead of waiting for quality they figured they could rush this out to capitalize on the popularity by placing inexperienced director at the helm and you can tell. Overall its fine, no reason to stop watching by any means, just hope it gets better
My biggest complaint isn't with the animation. It's with how the images are cut. Examples: The wide-area manga image of wind gathering around Fubuki wasn't shown at all. The image of Saitama being blasted off the balcony showed a very condensed looking blast in the manga, in the anime the entire screen filled up with the blast. The manga image of Fubuki floating down next to her tornado was centered on her. In the anime she was cut off, floating down from the top of the screen. When Fubuki blasted Saitama away the second time, the anime image was zoomed in so much that Fubuki wasn't drawn in the scene at all, while the manga version was a really cool shot. Finally, when the blast from Genos and Sonic's fight interrupted the fight, the manga image showed very clearly that Saitama shielded Fubuki from the blast. The anime version was much less obvious. In short, poor direction made the scene feel less epic than in the original, which is a disappointment to me. Fubuki's debut is my favorite chapter in OPM!

If you pay really really really close attention, you'll notice they never actually showed any movement animation, at all. They never animate anyone throwing a punch. You can see it in Amae mask fight too, they never showed him winding his arms for a punch, they did a jump cut after the impact. They've essentially made the entire show into a PowerPoint slide with jump cuts and flash effects.

Also Baka means stupid or idiot. Not old fart. Again wrong subs.
I think the version they are seeing might be more accurate in other ways. I think I saw the same one as you and I found weird that they had changed "Caped Baldy" and "Garou" from the manga to "Bald Cape" and "Garo".
@@jmcbresilfr many "professional" translators are fucking terrible. Even the INTRO spells Garou's name right. In Japanese it's literally "ga-ro-u." Any translator should, at the very least, know how to spell.
@@Yosakusan Most of them are genuinely terrible. It's sad to say, but most "unofficial translations" are generally much better translations. Viz and Crunchyroll in particular have TERRIBLE translators.
My theory is that Saitama(Not the person himself, but rather who he became) is kind of a 'cosmic glitch', that is, something that was not supposed to exist. That would explain why he was able to break his limiter when no one else did or could, and why he's so ridiculously strong. I believe this will be the main theme when he finally fights God, as he is the only creation that broke the limit God placed on humans. Also, the prophecy Boros talked about in S1 has way more meaning now. The prophecy could have come true 'anytime in the next six months. Maybe tomorrow or even today'. Garou was teased in the same episode. My theory is that Boros simply mistimed his arrival on Earth and that Saitama was not the one he was destined to fight. Nearly six months after Boros, Garou became God's vessel and fought Saitama. Blast was also present in that fight. I don't know if Blast can beat Boros in a fight, but my take is that it was either him or Garou who was prophesied to fight Boros. Probably Garou, as he seems stronger than Blast. The fact that Garou said he'll train for six months and come back stronger ties into the six month timeframe of the prophecy. The only reason this didn't happen was because Boros came too early and Saitama, being the glitch, interrupted the natural flow of things. This may also be why God gave Garou a little bit of his power. He saw another human on the threshold of breaking their limits. Wanting to prevent a second Saitama, God stopped Garou's growth by contaminating him with his own power, and pitted him against Saitama to see if he can kill the glitch. Garou failed, and Saitama is still growing in power. So God will have to do it himself.
The only thing i like about the anime now is that Saitama is animated and i can hear his legendary voice during the gag moments. other than that the manga and webcomic >>>>>
I wanted to wait for this season to finish to go and read the manga, but for what ive seen so far, i feel like the manga would be more impactful, not sure about what i should do lol
Adaptation of the story is still pretty good. When I saw the first episode I was like 'ok, animation is different, not as good as it was, but it is not bad'. But now some parts of this episode were quite bad. And that is sad. But that is how it is. Now need to try enjoy the good parts of the episodes.
I'm gonna enjoy the story like it was meant to be I mean it was adapted from a poorly drawn comic but man the animation is just really off in some scenes
I'm not saying it's fine the animation is bad but yeah the original web comic which was awfully drawn got popular and was liked for its story and comedy and didnt get the manga re adaptation for no reason
What the hell you mean "got progressively worse as they went on"?! All the seasons look the same with each other. Each with ups and downs. Same ups and downs. Ups being maintenance of their animation and downs is maintenance of their CGI use.
@@ベン-s6r There is seriously nothing wrong with its pacing. The fuck you talking about? Yeah the animation is horribly made clumsily but the fuck you mean it's barely palatable? @@Shingeki54 there's a clear differences in animation.. This season much more static, seriously not impressive at all. JC staff are good but idk, its way off for this one..
If anyone's wondering why the animation is such a step-down from the last season. It's because Season 1 was a special case. A lot of favors has been called in for that. Now it's just J.C Staff, they have the same animation director but they don't have the same animators from last season.
To answers your question. Madhouse outsourced most of their team for Season 1 and season 2 fell to a director that's less experienced in action anime. Tho original director was busy with another show when they tried to reach out to him.
So this episode had 5 animation directors. An episode having more than 1 means the studio is already in hell to finish the episode before deadline. This doesn't mean the quality could get worse (Attack on Titan on the last episodes of Season 3 had 10+ animation directors) but it certainly is not a good sign.
Nahid what happened was Madhouse were tied down schedule wise, so the producers decided to go somewhere else. Also Madhouse had a pretty moderate budget when making the first season. It's not about the money it's how you use it.
there was a specific director who esentially called in all the favours he had with other animators and pools his resourses and helped helm the first season into the stratosphere - the director Shingo Natsume not madhouse was the reason the first season was so good and his desire to work on a different project rather then work on the second season lead to the transferal of show from one studio to another - Shingo Natsume decided hed rather work on a smaller more niche project which is fine but without his alot of the flare, the style and the craftsmen ship is lost -- think of indiana jones - same script but instead of steven Spielberg its a disney film directed by some nobody - thats the best comparison i can think of
Scheduling is apart of the problem -Madhouse didnt want to wait and lose hype and retention on the show and had already waited so long -- Shingo Natsume was in the middle of his own projects and didnt want to stop doing that and because of that madhouse handed off the project because they probably knew they wouldnt be able to do the same quality of stuff and in order to avoid the heat and flack that has befallen this new studio

bander al they’re doing there best
And for being new they're doing decent sonic dodging genos punch was well animated in my opinion
@@mizanulalam6041 but from what i heard the first 3 episodes were done before airing and they brought 5 chief animators for them
@@bander-Coolb yeah it was nothing astonishing but it was good but yh I'm aware of everything u said but I purposefully eliminated those factors, now if u take in those factors season 2 isn't look to good if it took 5 directors to create an average episode and as a manga reader im worried for the upcoming fights tbh
Yeah the males sense, I was thinking what’s up with the the cuts during the fights?
It's true the animation isn't as smooth so far as Madhouse, but J.C. Staff is doing a great job with the pacing, humor, and the actual art style.
I can think of two fights that will probably be in this season I hope they splurge on, but honestly after this episode I'm pretty ok with how this season is shaping up.
What are u talking about. It’s been ass. I didn’t enjoy either episodes
@@adammrmcchickenman interesting. Well, I personally loved season 2.
well not complaining but manga's artstyle by yasuke murata is god level do check it out.
Amai mask is a celebrity so he changes his looks quite often
@Kusariyarou and strong asf too
Can i just say, i really enjoy watching the girl in overall. She actually watch this anime/season for what it is and what its presenting, and not comparing to what season 1 delivered. I like that she spoke up on the fact that the animation was totally fine
Fine isnt great. Complaints are valid.
@@OnionTaylorJoy Who says it wasn't valid? Its just annoying. When the animation is way better than every anime in this season. Its also their choice to watch this season. If they really have big issue with it (which seems like they dont) they shouldnt be watching it 😂 also they've complained about this and has been through this in EP1. Its time to move on, because there is no solution to this problem 😖😭
She doesn't know anything about animation in general.
@@TheBakuganmaster99 but she saw S1, even the most casual watchers can tell between S1 animations and S2. People has just become anime snob. Cause when the same people watch BlackClover, they're fine LMAO..
@@pittayayas black clover's animation has improved alot. Marketa is not a connoisseur of animation, she wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 500 frames and 250 frames. Basically, she's a normie is what I'm trying to say. Half of the fans of OPM are due to its amazing animation and fights. So take that away and the fanbase takes a dip.
I love that from Genos copying Siatama's run in season one. and now seeing Genos copying Saitama's fighting form and techniques as well. Fubuki is a great addition to the team. the Mob Psycho Parallels are going to get real with the psychic siblings. to the manga fans. waiting for that Hot pot episode if you know what I mean...
If you pay really really really close attention, you'll notice they never actually showed any movement animation, at all. They never animate anyone throwing a punch. The closest they got was a still shot of Genos machine gun punch, which was made with a dozen copy and paste blurry fists. You can see it in Amae mask fight too, they never showed him winding his arms for a punch, they did a jump cut after the impact. They've essentially made the entire show into a PowerPoint slide with jump cuts and flash effects.
At 12:40 Genos literally throws a punch clear as day and it’s fully animated (and honestly it’s the best looking thing in the whole show). You really tryna not pick my man, just accept its different and enjoy what we got because it’s far from bad.
I’ll take this season over having to wait another 4 years...
This is true but it's the best we can get now. Best to just enjoy what we get at this point, I personally enjoyed the episodes and this episode was much much better than episode 1. I think the animation will get better over time
@@ChrisJerico2 he means they cut out the impact since that's harder to animate. They're taking shortcuts which is understandable with the schedule they have right now and they're truly doing their very best from what I've seen
Luke Keango no they said they don’t Animate someone throwing a punch which is very different from impact. I agree the impact isn’t what it used to be and as you said that’s understandable but he literally compared it to PowerPoint slides which exaggeration or not isn’t accurate in the slightest
I do like the fact that Sonic officially got rated by Blizzard as being a S class threat.
ye because he is S class lvl
Hello! Nice to meet you!
I am a Japanese anime fan
We look forward to seeing this channel every time
One Panman It's funny
Japan is now short of animators
But this work will move in the battle scene
Not only the battle but also the chest of the female character moved
If it moves so much, it means that the animator works hard and draws many pictures
If you see this work while feeling the passion, I am glad as a Japanese
I commented using the iPhone translation app, so if you're not good at English, it's gonna be bad
はじめまして。アニメーターとして働いていますか?シーズン2はいいと思います。私はGoogle翻訳を使用しました。

Hey guys just wanted to lyk episode 1 of season 2 is not on the channel for some reason
I ship them too but let's be honest

I could still see it happening in the manga. If Saitama gets some emotions back

I must say that I had to hear it twice before I liked it.
Captain DP the first one has a special place in my heart, but this opening is by no means bad. It’s quite catchy as well
First one always stays the best
Its the opening vid that's disappointing.
both opening songs are so good, the second one starts standard then goes epic when the 2nd half starts (the HERO part)
As soon as I watched this ep I knew you guys were gonna love it
Where is season 2 episode 1 reaction? I know I’m late to watch this reaction series but I can’t find it anywhere
Garou is the best antagonist!!!
He's more of an anti-hero than antagonist, you know like Red hood.
Good to know that I am not the only Saitama x Fubuki shipper
Fubuki is the best
Fun Trivia: Boros in Season 1 talked about a prophecy that he will finally find his worthy opponent on Earth.
That "worthy opponent" wasn't actually Saitama, it was Garou.
There's no evidence that that's true
i would say blast but iam not sure because garou wasnt stronger (webcomic) yet when boros came to earth and just in my opinion even blast would have defeat boros with ease
Well I mean garou is starting to break his limiter.
12:10 when you amazed with Fubuki's thiccness but your gf is besides you
Why are you guys surprised blizzard is tornadoes sister? Theres an OVA where it tells you after season 1
Maybe they didn't see the cool train scene :/
What subs are you watching lmao? They are so wrong and ruin all the comedic moments. One of my favorite parts of the episode is when Fubuki showed her telekinesis and Saitama says: “so what you’re gonna beat me by throwing pebbles at me?” And she replies with: “you won’t be mocking me in a sec” or something like that anyway it was really funny but they translated it into a more serious version.
There are like 3 or more sub versions of this and all of them have pros and cons.
@@RabidDogma Most of Crunchys translators are former fansubbers themselves.
Season 1 - animated manga season 2 - animated web comic
So season 2 is better
"I like when the animation changes"
Hello, may I introduce you to our lord and savior, Hirohiko Araki ?
I'm so glad you guys enjoyed this episode as much as I did. I personally don't mind the animation, I just love these characters and stories!

The only thing i like about the anime now is that Saitama is animated and i can hear his legendary voice during the gag moments. other than that the manga and webcomic >>>>>

@@kaisac. yea but the anime is based on the redrawn manga version with references to the original. Not really an excuse

Madhouse made 3 seasons of Overlord, that got progressively worse as they went on
Give them 4 years and they give you the best animation imaginable. Give them 1-2 years and you get what you get. Don't rush art. Be patient.
Welp they're currently on cases in tax evasion
What the hell you mean "got progressively worse as they went on"?!
All the seasons look the same with each other. Each with ups and downs. Same ups and downs.
Ups being maintenance of their animation and downs is maintenance of their CGI use.
@@wizzdom8364 Nah, the pacing and animation direction was honestly dogshit, and the best scenes from the LN were barely palatable
@@ベン-s6r There is seriously nothing wrong with its pacing. The fuck you talking about? Yeah the animation is horribly made clumsily but the fuck you mean it's barely palatable? The flow's perfect if you just don't be a pussy that keeps whining. The only thing wrong done to anime at 2019 is not giving the characters fluent movement. Which overlord still has, Unlike OPM S2.

日本のアニメをこんなにも喜んで観てもらえるなんて何か嬉しいなw
If anyone's wondering why the animation is such a step-down from the last season. It's because Season 1 was a special case. A lot of favors has been called in for that. Now it's just J.C Staff, they have the same animation director but they don't have the same animators from last season.
I tink they are rushing the story abit to get to the good stuff faster. Which I dont mind.
This Episode felt really fast at some points.
Really? To me it felt that it went at a good pace.
ok, got some Mob Psycho vibes in this episode
Just a small side note here: The guy who sings the ending song is Saitamas voice actor.
As a manga reader, I’m very happy with their reaction to Garou. You guys’ll he blown away with what he does next!!!
It's crazy how experienced anime fans can tell difference in animation. Still love it
To answers your question. Madhouse outsourced most of their team for Season 1 and season 2 fell to a director that's less experienced in action anime. Tho original director was busy with another show when they tried to reach out to him.
Sonic and Genos are about even at this point in time. Sonic is faster but Genos is more powerful.
IF you guys don't remember, Saitama literally called his exact hero name right before his sparring match with Genos in season 1.
6:07 charanko strongest fighter
So this episode had 5 animation directors. An episode having more than 1 means the studio is already in hell to finish the episode before deadline.
This doesn't mean the quality could get worse (Attack on Titan on the last episodes of Season 3 had 10+ animation directors) but it certainly is not a good sign.
Attack on Titan had 3 ADs not 10
Bro could any studio even afford to have 10 animation directors?
7:41 金魚の糞やろう!! LMFAO what a savage thing to say, this is the first time ive heard this expression too lol.

The comedy is on fucking point and I'm so glad. Then again, J.C. Staff does Saiki.K and Food Wars so I wasn't too worried about the comedy.
definitely subbing after this
Some nicknames for you guys that I made up:
Nahidoid, Orgasmurana, Nanicky, Praise the Suraj
Did they not react to season 2 ep 1???
Where's the 1st episode??
