I can tell by looking at the blade that you have a knockoff. At 15:40 you can see a crease where the edge curve up towards the handle. It should be a smooth rounded curve. I'm not going to say the original would have done better...just saying that you knife there is not the real deal. Thanks for posting. It would likely 'have' been a good toolbox knife if was cheap enough.
I covered it being a fake in the very 1st part of the video and showed some differences I could find. I knew it was a fake when I purchased it so I could destroy it.
If it wasn't a brand ripoff but sold under the name of the company that actually manufactures them then I would say it's a pretty decent knife at a really good price. But the point is trying to sell a KIA and disguising it as a Corvette is just wrong, I'm not saying that KIA is bad but don't decieve people into believing that they're getting something that they're not. Btw, would you have any suggestions on a knife with similar dimensions that I could use for saltwater fishing , something that won't rust or corrode? ,thanks in advance.

Well, to be fair, the maker labeled the knife as being made in China, so a serious knife buyer would have known it was a fake. I have a genuine strongarm and its pretty darn sturdy, but if smacked with a metal hammer, it could very well get damaged (though perhaps not completely snap so quickly). The question is could any knife priced $14-15 hold up any better to your test regardless of where its made? I suspect like all people who buy named products at a super cheap price, be it handbags or knives, its because they're ignorant...or can't afford the real deal but want the status of seemingly owning something nice. Can't generate too much outrage over a normal human failing....but like anything else, its always "buyer beware..."
Not labeled Made in China. Has USA right in the blade. This knife was made go dupe people into thinking it’s a real Strongarm. I’m wondering how many of these shit pieces are being sold at flea markets across the US for $40-50 to un suspecting people? I didn’t care how well it held up entire video was to show it’s a fake and trash it. Thanks for checking it out.
Oh...I misheard..thought you said it was labeled "made in China" on the box. But if it was stamped in the USA, then clearly that is a blatant misrepresentation and illegal. Not that that ever stopped the fakers. Unfortunately, it also doesn't stop unscrupulous people from buying up the fakes and peddling them at flea markets for $40 or so. The resemblance is close enough and the knife is superficially tough enough, that it will likely fool many casual buyers. These fakes have even found their way into legit platforms like Amazon (though Amazon will allow buyers to return it within 30 days). The only way to seriously reduce the flow of fake strongarms in the country is to get the govt to go after outfits like TEMU and get them to accurately label their products or face civil penalties. And of course, doing what you're doing which is warning the public...
That knockoff held up extremely well. Im shocked. The real Strongarm would've also broken. You're hitting a knife with a carbon steel mallet! No one would ever do that to a good knife. Thanks for providing how to ID a fake strong arm. I do see some irony in the title of your video. Your knife was not a Gerber strongarm and you are using a fake title to promote your video. I can't help to think at some level your video has promoted these fakes. They are a breach of law, Gerber owns their reputation and trademarks etc. It doesn't matter if they perform better or worse even if they are cheaper. These should not be bought by law abiding people even if we can. Let the manufacturers of these knives create their own design and compete in the market using their own name and not profit from deceiving ignorant consumers.
