After watching this video, I'm satisfied that mine is authentic. Whew! Have been wanting a tactical knife for hiking, because I hike alone with my dog and was impressed with reviews about it's versatility. It's my first fixed blade knife. The only thing that made me suspicious was a small chip on the spine of the blade. Everything else was PERFECT, including the sharpness (easily cut through paper). I wanted to return it due to the chio, but my mother ordered it over a month before, so we couldn't (that time limit was in the seller's description). I just received a StrongArm Serrated through Amazon
    -Skinny box
-Handle looks more green than brown.
    -Hole is off-center.
    -Edge a bit sloppy.
-Box has a label : "Made in China." (!)
-Male snap is on the left.
-Weight (accurate scale): 7.65 oz. Heavier than it's supposed to be. (Also not good for a couple of reasons.)
-Length seems about right. 9.75" vs 9.8" per specs.
-Also, was not cheap. Basically full price.
-To top things off, the box was torn open, and badly scuffed (like a return.)
It's possible that Gerber has some products made overseas. But this one is supposed to be made in US. I just did what I should have done in the first place: Order from a certified Gerber dealer. Wow. Thanks for posting the video.

I bought a Gerber folding knife for $5.00 on eBay 7 years ago. Same story as this guy^ only difference is it’s the best damn knife I’ve ever owned. Used that thing working at a carwash in highschool every single day, no exaggeration. It was humid and just not a nice environment for tools, but it kept an edge like a mf and I still carry it today. Only con was when the belt clip broke off. $5.00, I don’t care if it was counterfeit or not, I love that knife. I’ve gathered some really nice alternatives since, kabar and some others, but I almost hate to admit that five buck piece is my favorite.

Just got one for the equivalent of 13.5 USD and to be honest given that price this counterfeit I got is still insanely a good buy for that price given how worse the competition is. Even though its softer and lower quality in all material and production aspects, its still pretty cool to get a thick and hefty sharp out of the box knife like this with the very convenient versatile sheath.
Can't believe they sell it for $50 over there
For reference, the average chinesium folding knife people would carry in my area would all be about $10 and those are probably half the quality of this counterfeit gerber strongarm or even less
Nowadays the counterfeiting is now even better. Razor sharp out the box, the plastic injection moulding on the sheath is much better however the handle moulding is worse. Other than the ENORMOUS price gap and the nasty handle moulding in some areas, the only other sign would be the Made in Oregon text. Mine was made with a whacky non uniform font that looks horrendous and was printed out of square.
Also worth mentioning that the one i got has an insane notched saw blade section thats larger than usual and is still honestly well ground given the dirt cheap price its unbelievable sometimes.
Great video! I do hope that counterfeit knives wont be a liability to their users when quality is to be put to the test, specially to those who were tricked into buying fake ones..

You can easily sharpen it back out but will give you a quick idea which blade is heat treated better, I'm curious to know if they used a cheap crappy Steel for the counterfeit and if the real knife is of a better steel quality.

Hey I have a quick question could it possibly be just a different year make and a different run that they made of that knife? And that's why it's a little bit different and also I once was going to purchase hey buck 119 special at Walmart and it came in that same shiny black cheap package box with bubble wrap and a paper inside just like the one you have there for the Gerber Strongarm so I'm thinking maybe the guy I bought it from Walmart used it for a while for maybe a year or so and then decided to sell it and that's why it's so worn looking besides you sharpening the crap out of it.? I also just bought myself a gerber Strongarm but it's the serrated version It's the only one they had available at the sporting goods store well they only had two available and they both are serrated so hide really no choice from serrated or unsaturated I would have picked Yonce rated version if they had it but they did not I also noticed that my coyote brown it is like the lighter one that you have there it has the diamond checkered hand grips just like the ones you have there on both knives and the stamping on the back my friend Travis bought two of them but he got lucky and got on serrated on both and his came with a black rubbery sheath on both but a more of an olive grab lizard skin Style hand grips and the lanyard hole is actually at the top knot in the middle but the knives both are very close and design of the blade are very close his drop point my drop point are very close but mine seems to be more pronounced that has my mind seems to be a little bit longer than that is just a tad bit but he says he's been using his four a lot of bushcrafting type of things and then also a lot of sharpening I keep it Sharp and ready to cut but like I said should there be that much of a difference between the serrated version and the unrated version also his I believe is a different year well mine is a 2021 I just got it yesterday his I believe it's probably a 2020 or 2019 run and also there is a grading stamp on there too if you know how to read the grading stamps I'll tell you the grade of Steel it is besides just being a grade of 420 high carbon steel so that's another thing for anybody looking to pick at anyting about which is important in some cases but really it's a tool you're going to use it you're going to use it and you're going to find it if it's a good knife or a bad knife when you're out in the field testing it if it fails it fails that's why we buy money that's why we have backups it maintains a sharp edge send great more power to you and also count yourself very fortunate that you got yourself a nice blade that maintains a sharp edge then it's less time on the stone or with a sharpening steel to touch it up after a bunch of use do it knife stuff out in the bush and doing what it was meant to do. And the beauty of the thing is it's totally customizable how you want to where at and what you want to add to the sheath even if it is a cheap Chinese knock-off that's very close it really doesn't matter what really matters is how it performs out in the field and if you paid $70 for it like me hopefully you got yourself a good deal on a knife that will last you a long time and serve many purposes which after looking at the sheath and the knife I ended up adding a nice lanyard made out of paracord and then ended up using a shoelace because it worked really well compared to trying to weave the Paracord around the sheath but I ended up using the those holes that are on each side and ended up Kris Kross patterning it down the sheath which it has three e x e s all the way down to the bottom where it meets by the drainage holes and then I tied it with a knot and then use the rest of the shoelace as tie so I can tie it on my inner leg what's cool about that is it locks anything that's in my pocket in a small portion of the pocket so if I have keys or something or lighter whatever he'll get locked in there and see if you're hiking there's less chance of you losing those items in case you like fall or something and also unsheathing the strong arm is a lot easier cuz it's tied to your leg vs just floating there which I found kind of difficult to unsheathe the blade so I found that to be really useful band-aid and unsheathing it and especially any I need to get to my knife in a fast way scenario it will come in handy in the future and last but not least I did check last night to see if it would actually work I added a firesteel to it I got for $5 at Farm & Fleet they also have there at the sporting good store for about the same price I put that on the 2nd X and it seemed to work really great and hold in place really well and also tied to Little Thai around the shoe laces while so if it's bouncing rifle chance to be getting Louis and falling off so I have the option to start fire with it and it seemed the spark really good nice it through a really nice parks using that really kind of sharp beefy spine it really works really great going to try to test it tonight and see if I can actually start a fire with it after doing some feather sticking I'm making a little bird's made of probably dried leaves pine needles and then some dried Pine shavings going to give her a spark and see if she ignites so I plan on using this knife and using it. As it was intended and then some so all in all even if they do differ a little bit don't knock them until you actually take them out and try them I said that one that has a kind of shiny box you're thinking it's a knockoff maybe the kid just bought it at Walmart but that's how they all come at Walmart hell mine came in a clear plastic thing with the display of course it was displayed on the display shelf in a clear plastic container with a bunch of stacks on it so I don't know does that knock the validation ads real or not I think the kid probably just bought it at Walmart like I said when I was looking at the buck 119 I was not impressed with the way it was presented it looked terrible. Like the one that's in the display case that they had all shined up and looking beautiful but like I said he probably bought it at Walmart and then put it on eBay or whatever I guess you just don't know until you actually take it out in the field and try it and see if it performs hope you all have a great day and hope you give this what I said some thought and consider that all knives art create a decoy I mean some years they changed just a little bit but it doesn't mean that you have a garbage knife just because it came in a crappy package it's all about how it actually performs have a great day y'all God bless stay safe out there and keep your knives Sharp. I was watching reviews on the Strongarm Knife and this one popped up. I went ahead watched it and listened to everything you said three or four times. I then went got my Strongarm to compare it and I bought a fake. I have reported it to eBay and waiting for answer on what to do. Everything wrong with yours was wrong with mine. Makes me feel like a fool for being taken in. The seller is in CT Clubber something. I got mine on 14th of February 2022 took me six days to figure it out. Thanks for your help with your video.

It says Fiskars right on the back of the fake box. They are a big manufacturer in, I think, Sweden. It may be that they are a licensed distributor for Gerber. So it may not actually be fake.

For the price on Amazon which I found to be $2.00 dollars less than Gerber, I just went with Gerber. Even if it was $10.00 less. My thoughts are that Amazon is a companies way of selling off 2nd or 3rd quality runs that don't make it into their official store inventory.

Nahh I've had three Strongarms and a couple Prodigy's all through Amazon direct Prime and they all were excellent. Its Ebay and personal sellers, if ya buy a knife from Amazon only buy from their warehouse and EBay only licensed dealers. If ya really look at this fake one its obvious to me cause I've had many of Gerber's knives but some folks have no idea. Makes me wonder if some of the bad comment on quality issues is do to them buying these fake pieces of crap.

I have a very early Strongarm from right after they released it. I can tell you the lanyard hole isn't a steong indicator, nor is it being sharp from Gerber. Mine was not what I'd call sharp. After i put it on my wicked edge it reached it's full potential though. I double checked my box and it's the right same as your real Gerber. I just find it hard to believe someone would go through so much trouble to KO a 50 dollar knife. Hell, when it was new I think I paid 42 before it became popular. I winder if someone was sneaking out factory rejects or something.

The real one is not available to buy in my country. Mi fake strongarm came supersharp. I got it from gearbest. It did not say gerber in the publication of the product, it only said 440c tactical knife, from the photos it could be seen that it was a copy of the strongarm, the brand was erased but when it arrived it said gerber like the original, the only difference is the micro bevel. I think it is the same fake that you see in your video, but the details are more polished. I have brutally punished it and it has excellent edge retention, it has not broken even after prying
