- I will show you how to post on instagram from any laptop, PC, desktop, mac, or whatever you use. This is very easy and can be done in less than 30 seconds. I typically like to post pictures on my instagram accounts from my laptop. When posting photos to instagram from my computer, I am able to edit them faster, and with more powerful software. This makes my instagram work faster and easier, and can make instagram businesses more profitable. I recommend trying this method out for your next instagram post, if you edited your photo on your mac or PC. To reiterate what was said in the video, this is how you post to instagram from a computer: First you need to open your browser (preferably Google Chrome) and you then need to go to www.instagram.com. Once you are on the site, you will notice that instagram does not have a button to post pictures from your computer. You will need to open developer tools, and click the device toggle toolbar so that you can enter the mobile website from your phone. Once you make this switch, it is easy to switch back, and even easier to post. This will make your laptop look exactly like your phone.

Instagram discourages loading from a pc. Chrome is a third party app and in this instance you aren't really using IG to load a pic.
They don't. They expect you to install their app on your mobile device.

1) Go to the three gray dots on the top right corner of the screen and go to "settings" --> "more tools" --> "develop tools"
2) On the top left corner of the new screen, toggle on the device toolbar which looks like a phone in front of a tablet
3) Reload the page and VOILA! :)
But srsly tho, why not let users post from pcs?

I got all the way to posting and realized that it posted on my personal page not my creator page. I was on my creator page to begin with. Anyone know what happened? Very frustrating!!

it works , For Firefox -> go to developer tools
-> select toggle tools
-> then select mobile veiw button
-> select device as samsung Galaxy at the top left corner
-> refresh :)

Thank you for showing me exactly how to make an Instagram photo post from my Apple MacBook Pro computer. I have been trying for over a month to learn out how to make photography posts from my computer. I agree I would rather post photos from my computer where I have more control of my images. As a professional nature and wildlife photographer, it seemed that I was just being lazy by not figuring out how to post photos from my computer. I asked many people and nobody knew how to make Instagram computer photo posts. My Google Searches turned up hours of RUclips videos without a simple explanation. You have no idea how much time and frustration this has saved me.
Usually I would have to take our my SD Card from my camera plug in my card reader import the photos sort through and pick the best ones edit them then export them then send them back to a micro SD that I would insert into my phone.....

Using opera, go to Instagram page, right click on page, use Inspect Element to get to the window where you can choose the mobile app (You don't even have to have a mobile app!) and it will allow you to publish from your computer.
By the way, this is the best video I found for explaining this concept - gets my vote for sure.

I followed all your astute directions--thank you--BUT when the window opened with my list of files, they were grayed out, including the one I want to click/post on Instagram...why is that and how do I access the file or UN-gray it?

The whole world is crying about not being able to post to instagram from a laptop or desktop, and people are making RUclips videos on third party websites like Loola and Lately Social for instagram posting, and this guy just blows my mind telling the simplest thing the world does not know!! The problem with this "fix" is that it posts to your "story" - I don't want my photos in my story, but in my gallery!

This is incredible. Thanks so much! I've decided to delete the app from my iPhone b/c it's such a time suck. Too easy to endlessly scroll on the toilet, at a red light, or at the park. FB/Instagram maliciously makes the browser version crippled to get us addicted to the phone (where they know engagement is longer). Now I can post from my PC. You are a champ!!

@@bludoll Worked for me just now. Log into IG, right click on page, choose Inspect. In the menu at the top, it'll say "Responsive". Click on that and choose a model of smartphone - say the Samsung Galaxy5 or whatever. Refresh, then hit the X on the right side close out the dev tools. You'll see the [+] icon to upload photos. And Viola, it's like your desktop is your phone.

Yeah, this used to work for me, but the web instagram updated and now you have dms, but you can't post. Even when you try this inspect thing and change it to mobile, the "+" sign to uploads photos and videos does not show.
@@osophine8672 When the files pop up, in the bottom right-hand corner of the "files" section where it says "custom files", click on that and change to "all files". I hope this helped.

I started using Ig yesterday and I was surprised that pc site doesn't give the option of uploading photos. Thank you for showing the solution, now I can happily post photos without having to move files from pc to the phone

stubbs One thing that worked for me was I put it up on my Google Drive and downloaded the video from there to upload to Instagram. It’s an extra step but it worked

Hello, thank you so much for this very simple video!! I tried it, step by step, on chrome on my mac. When I go to upload a photo, it won't upload any photo though. Do you know why that might be the case?

Try to change the phone chosen. That is on top you may find a button 'Responsive' click it and choose a phone mentioned.

The Chrome browser menu button is three VERTICAL dots, waaay up at the top-right corner, next to your Google account profile picture (or circle with your first initial in it).

Is anybody else getting quality loss in their image when uploading like this instead of via the phone?
Yeah, happened to me. Viewed my computer video and it was 1080p. Sent it to my phone and it was 480p. After uploading it went all the way down to 144p. Don't know how to fix though
I was able to circumvent this by not resizing my image. It turns out the little black resize button during the upload process has a glitch where it drops the quality significantly for web uploads right now.

I am pretty sure they have changed it up. When I do this it does not include the button for posting/ uploading photos.
Instagram must have seen your video and others like it -- my button also disappeared.
I don't think Instagram "forgot" to add an upload button for desktops -- it's by design.

I,ve been using this for awhile now, and I'm sure it was you that put me onto posting from my laptop so a very big thank you, however I have just tried to Edit a post. When I bring up my picture and click on the dots, the drop down appears but without the Edit tab. Any suggestion welcome, I am on Google Crome my laptop is running windows 10.
