- 1 of 9, "The Shape of Punk to Come" started the set. This is one of the last full shows Refused ever played. It happened in Greensboro, NC which was two nights before the infamous Harrisonburg, VA incomplete show. This is one of the few places to see this set from that tour in its entirety.

I saw these guys "open" for Snapcase in a basement in Minneapolis before this incredibly important album came out and they absolutely blew the roof off the place. It was easily the most impactful show I've ever seen.
The space was so small and certain sections were getting into it more than others off camera and at that time, kids only knew Rather Be Dead and a bit of New Noise. People found out as the night went on that they would be breaking up. Most in the audience were in awe at them as I was.
This video reminds me of what it was, all those years ago when I was a kid that made me want music. It reminds me of a time before all the bullshit, all the band drama, and all the shit talking. It was better than sex, It was better than drugs. It was better than any amount of money that you could get paid playing. It was about the music. How there were no rules except the ones that you allowed in the room. It was about creating that peace, that emotion, and making it electric, moving the room. It's an amazing thing when a band performs live and they're so invested, so involved, and so in the moment like it's the first time they played it, that the whole room can't help but be affected by it. It's Just amazing to see the bands that can do this, and it's so sad how many can't.
this seems like a cleaner cut than what i've seen before. a.k.a. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's because I was there!
Tom Mullen so glad you were, this is music history. I didn't discover them until a few years later, and wouldn't have been able to see them if I had. So cool to be able to see this.
Thank you so much man! It would have been so fucking cool to be there! Sadly this was done like 7 years before I was born, so I didn't have much of a chance lmao
I bet... I can see the looks on the kids faces around them while they're playing. Especially during Tannhauser/Derive at the end of the show. That's the most epic I've heard them sound, and I couldn't even hear Dennis's vocals. I would be in complete shock and amazement after that performance.
that is their best song, IMO. What a fucking timeless piece of music.
You just stood there, in the 90's. They were doing right. Some kids today, still keep that tradition alive, pretty neat huh?
Thank you for this.THANK YOU!!!!!! This video just reminds me of why I ever picked up an instrument.
That's a typical Greensboro crowd. Even today.
YES THEY TRICKED EVERYBODY!
Am I banged out or did they open with some Jack Kerouac? How awesome that is.
Haha funniest comment I've ever seen. Thanks.
Someone knows what is the intro¿? The man talking?... Refused always used this intro to play The Shape Of Punk To Come. Thanks!
I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like an excerpt from Jack Kerouac's "On The Road".
LetThePoorStarve ***** It's from Kerouac's novel Desolation Angels.
They did. Dennis tells them right before playing "Refused Are Fucking Dead".
@Sandstrooom It is now. It was just a rumor at the time, though.
The cops didn't stop this show, they stopped the show in Harrisonburg, VA two nights later.
Drum kit says Frodus. Did they play also? Frodus are/were awesome too
Yea they also were on the tour with Refused
Wow, so this is from their absolutely last show ever?
It's so sad..man they'd be fucking HUGE now.
THey
Nah, the last show was two days later
They broke up after the Harrisonburg show and flew back home.
right when dennis starts singing...kid in the white shirt...is that the red headed dude from American Pie?!
Today in Madrid Spain
@xMatthewxOceanx
Rumors says (according to Coachella promo poster) Refused will be playing at Coachella 2012!!
Where are the rest of the songs?
No, that was just standard 90s hardcore fans. Especially in America.
Don Devore from Ink and Dagger on bass.
@AlmostaFlipinSkater It's not happening, bro. Sorry to break it to you.
What happened in Harrisonburg?
Seriously, why did the police stop the show?
So I am my own favorite band? Now I'm confused.
Um... yes it is... sorry to break it to you
What's wrong with that crowd? I don't get why you people think you have to kill each other at a show to enjoy the music.
Eat the mik 😂 HxC
