Don't hate on your oily skin love. I hate hearing younger women, really any woman, tear themselves down over things that they have no control over. As you age, the very oil that you hate will become your friend. Oily skin holds off fine lines and wrinkles and just "ages better " at least in my opinion. I'm 47 now and am grateful for my oily skin. I don't look my age. So yeah, oily skin and frequent sunscreen for the win!
ITS A SPONGE FOUNDATION 😭 The new elf foundation looked like a dumpster fire on me with a brush, but had a complete Cinderella/fairy god mother moment with my beauty blender. BLURRED and FLAWLESS 😭😭 I haven't put it down since.
My case for backups: I know exactly what I like. Since my 20s, I’ve been looking for textures, colors, & finishes that did not exist, at least in any way I could get, and even when I finally had some money, only a few of my dream products existed. Now that makeup is finally available the way I like it, I’m going to incorporate those trends that appeal to me, but I know I’ll be sticking to my favorites a lot as well. I am not going to stockpile huge quantities, but if something seems trendy/unusual/limited edition but I really love it, I’ll buy 2-4 extras so that I can enjoy it a bit longer. I am terrified that bareminerals complexion rescue gel will be discontinued, and I always have 1-2 of each shade, so I have a grace period to find a new option if I need to - no other complexion product magically transforms me like that stuff. So far, I have not regretted stockpiling anything except some Dollar Tree glitter liners, but if I only overspent by $10 (yes it was a lot of glitter liner & ofc I immediately developed an allergy once I got to the 2nd bottle lol), I’m not too sad plus it just gets used for crafting or body paint. I have 3 ways to use colorful makeup after decluttering, so that helps too.
I totally get that feeling! Sometimes a fresh, clean face feels like a breath of fresh air. There’s nothing like the relief of taking off makeup after a long day. You deserve that comfort
Patrick Ta is really expensive!! So to have a product on your face that remains tacky!! Not good, I can't stand stuff that is tacky, your hair sticks to it, etc. Yuk!! So a big No for me!! Thanks for your review and not wasting my money (not that I buy much cream products, although as you get older, they say it looks better, but I can't stand the tacky feel, I prefer the cream to powder feel)
I hate when foundations do that. I stopped wearing foundation in my 30s exactly because of how it would look like orange peel someone tried to paint with watercolor. My skin used to be super oily but after meno it became more normal/dry. But it's very textured & red from rosacea inflammation. I understand the struggle & primers never really helped & often made it worse or caused pilling. I get the best results with my watercream & spf.
Ughhhh I was SO JAZZED for the new Patrick Ta highlights. I assumed they would be the same formula as the blush duos because they are perfection and why would we mess with a good thing? Wrong. Ingredients on that nasty goopy gluey gunky sticky greasy mess of a cream highlight are completely different than the cream in the blush duo. It's all coconut and castor oil. Literally a cleansing balm or a lip oil. And we are dabbing this on over powder? It eventually removes any foundation or concealer underneath, creases up around the eyes because it never sets down, and forms a gross cosmetic gravy as it mixes in with the powder. And it hot weather? Forget it. It will be melting and dripping down your cheeks like buttery tears. The biggest disappointment of the year.
IDK why influences are not comparing the Patrick Ta new highlighters to his highlighter in the Holiday 2022 palette...I'm assuming it's the same formula that no one liked 😬🤔
I bought the Patrick Ta highlighter right away and returned right away after one use. I don’t think it’s editorial or model, I think it’s just awful haha
Oh yay! Not usually this early! Please give me the deets! I’ve been debating about the elf foundation! I’m all cozy on this rainy night, perfect vibes for a Lauren video! ❤
Thank you for being so honest, this is why I love creators like you. I feel like I can trust your reviews and it’s much appreciated! Not out here saying you love everything. I had to skip the highlights as an oily girl I can’t do the balmy textures! ❤
Hi Lauren , I have oily skin with large pores on nose and cheeks and I got the elf foundation to look really good on top of my Skinn orchid gel primer then applying the elf with a damp beauty blender and stippling it on. I know it absorbs some of the product but for 8 bucks I can use with careless abandon! Lol thanks for your videos!
Lippie was a little frosty but in the good way - just a pinch icier than typical shine. Not so much 70s teen with white lips, more Farrah in really beautiful makeup of the era. Easy breezy glowy but not “hello I am covered in product” glow.
I'm soo glad I didn't pick up any of those Patrick Ta highlighters. Almost all the reviews I've seen on them have the same "sticky icky" reaction. If I want a lip gloss feeling on my cheek I'll shop my lip gloss stash 😂. Thx for the honest review. Btw love the fragrance dup vids! So hard to find good info on dups!
The new elf foundation did me SO dirty. I’ve never wanted to wash my face so bad in all my life. Went on beautifully but in the matter of an hour, looked horrendous. Sunk in every pore I have & broke up all over my face. I’m oily/combo so it could be my skin type? I LOVE the new milk brow gel though! Keep playing with it & clean it up with micellar water. It’s the only brow product I use now.🏆
I hated that e.l.f. cc cream, bb cream, whatever it was that they released in 2021? I forced my self to use it up by blending in a dot with other products. I love MANY e.l.f. products, but I am not sold on their foundations or cc creams.
"1st Application Magic" Yes!!! I had that experience with the new ELF Brow Lamination pen thingy. Every application since has been T R A G I C 😩 1st time was pure perfection and I am sad I wasted it just driving home from Ulta Every time after....It gets crusty, and ashy and not even holding the hairs
I’ve had that same problem with the Covergirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence. It was drop-dead beautiful the first time that I used it. Since then it’s been nothing but a full-on JOB to use. 🤷♀️
You always crack me up! Thanks for being real. I haven't even received my Patrick Ta order yet and I am already disappointed. Everyone I see is not liking it and I regret not waiting for reviews. I am super excited for the new Persona blushes though!!
I got the Patrick ta highlight when it was still a preorder aka before any non-incentivized reviews were posted and bbooooyyy do I regret it lmao. I got the shade sugar and the “cream” formula in that specific color is literally liquified goop, totally different than the other shades (every shade’s cream is tacky but sugar is softer than a lip balm!) the powder side is pretty but the lack of quality control in products now is astounding omg
I don’t think the new ELF foundation is good, I think I tried making it work because it was so hyped and everyone else seems to like it, but no. I gave it away lol. I’m high-end foundations all the way
I've been really loving the new elf foundation, I think for $8 its pretty good. I have the lightest shade and I initially thought it was going to be too dark but when I blended it out it surprisingly is my perfect shade.
Lauren, I agree with you in the Patrick Ta Highlighters. Cream part is just like Vaseline and the powder side is so glittery. Patrick Ta raised the bar so high for all of us especially with his blush duos so these highlighters were little disapointment. Doesnmt worth $40. I am returning mine.
I wonder if pairing the foundation with the power grip primer would work? Or any smoothing primer. I hope you find a way to make it work for you again!
I use the elf flawless finish satin foundation and have for yearssss. Recently I saw them being clearanced at my Walmart and panicked because the hassle of finding something that works, is affordable, and holds up during 12+ hr days in the hospital is a problem I do NOT need. 😂 I’m scared to hear your full review to this new foundation!
I swatched the Patrick Ta highlighters today and they were terrible. OTOH I am also still using that holiday palette with the glitter toppers and bright pink blushes. For an alternative, I think Merit does those glossy highlighters really well and the new Danessa ones are great too.
have you tried the bare minerals tinted moisturizer? i have oily skin and we love the same base products and that tinted moisturizer is my HG. the elf one ripped off the packaging lol. i think you would like it tho
Omg it’s the best! I am strictly boxycharm & budget makeup except bareminerals complexion rescue gel tinted moisturizer! I cannot figure out what it does differently than other nice tinted moisturizers, but for me it is so next level, it is my only high end repeat purchase for makeup. I also use the neutrogena half the time, and I am experimenting with k beauty bb cream, but so far, nothing makes me look genuinely healthy like the bareminerals, and I have a chronic illness that affects my ability to eat, so I can look like the crypt keeper when stressed and tired. Such a great product! Of the oily skin products that you have covered positively & I have tried, I like most, so I think this would work well. I have a lot of just natural texture & pores btw, this just gives everything a zhuzzh of polish & subtle improvement, but no visible makeup shows like with med-heavy coverage. Looks absolutely natural. I hate foundation deeply so I avoid coverage like the plague, it’s rare to get such a nice upgrade without coverage.
@@LaurenMaeBeauty pls try and report back! i recommend blending in with fingers. give it a couple hour wear test to really let it settle in. :) also it would be cool if you tested the normal (version i like) vs the matte!

Lauren...I just love you and your honesty. "I'm getting dingleberries"... I laughed out loud!!! 🤣 I have to admit, I was so excited for the Patrick Ta highlighters but... I don't love them. I agree with you about the cream, they are greasy. SO sad because I LOVE his blush duos.
I’m still so unbelievably torn about picking up those Patrick Ta highlighters.. Is My Love actually more shimmery than Baby? That’s how it’s described.. In your swatches, it looks like it’s more pigmented but I didn’t see “glitter” on your face once you applied them. I’m so fair I usually gravitate towards the white highlighter shades but it seems like every brand takes the opportunity to make that shade the “diamond” shade in their range and pack it full of mica like Makeup By Mario & Dior. Also, you described it so well “the Patrick Ta fantasy” literally every time I buy a product from his line, I’m always disappointed with how they work for me with the exception of his lip liners and the minty lip gloss. The blushes are just too pigmented for my skin tone and for some reason, I feel like they get patchy on me.. His eyeshadows just aren’t my perfect shades. But I don’t want to give up hope.
I love the makeup by Mario softsculpt bronzing and shaping serum!! It's so beautiful!! It's really nice to mix into a foundation that's slightly too light as well ❤
Have you ever tried using concealer on your nose before foundation? I used to have super oily skin and I would do that! I ended up preferring just avoiding liquid products entirely on my nose and I would only use powder foundation on my nose but i do remember liking how concealer would help my foundation lay better on my nose!
I don’t know what’s going on with the Patrick Ta highlighters. I saw Morgan Turner try them, and I’m feeling the same way I did then. It’s giving Vaseline, and I’m confused why we’re paying $40 for Vaseline?
To each, their own. And beauty & skincare are subjective, so obviously everything isn't going to work for everyone 🙄. Choice is a wonderful thing 😊. Thanks for the reviews & demos 😉
Love the honesty, you are pretty don’t be rude with yourself 💛 some products can be crapy 😆 it’s normal. The hightlight from PT, this type of texture is just a bad idea that it, it’s not your skin, I have rosacea, psoriasis 15 min with that on my face I have a rash and my skin breakout 🤣 someone with acne skin, or no perfect skin (like normal person) can not be look good and high risk of breakout with this type of product. Very nice video, you are very funny 💛
Every one I’ve watched who tried that makeup by Mario product has had weird stuff happen like on your nose. One said it was weird that it changed texture each time, watery once , oily the next, amazing another and another lifting up their foundation or disappearing after 30 min on.
I’ve been loving my L’Oréal true match nude hyaluronic tinted serum with no primer lately. I do have to set really well with the huda powder and I use the Charlotte tilbury setting spray because, oil and Alabama heat. Ps the tower 28 moisturizer is the best I’ve come across in a long time!!

Been having some success with the elf pore-less primer and the new Elf satin finish. It is not my favorite primer, but those 2 seem to be made for each other. Oh - and my nose is the same. Used a dot of the elf power grip primer on my nose and that helped a lot!
Lauren, have you tried the older E.L.F foundation in the frosted glass bottle with black pump...i thinknits called elf flawless finish? Do you have a comparison with this new elf foundation by chance?
