I was just diagnosed during a cystoscopy. The urologist said I had to have a roto router surgery by knife on cystoscope, and that I would be incontinent - just get over it. He was also vague about possible or most probable sexual dysfunction. Luckily I began to look at videos like this by patients and doctors that showed me this alternative and all it’s variants by patients and their unique problems. Though I find all of this frightening and overwhelming, I know I must understand so I can have a reliable decision to have as a solution. So I have a second opinion appointment with a Johns Hopkins reconstructive urologist. The first ( my second because the first did a TURP and lied to me or didn’t give me information on retrograde ejaculation or possible stricture formation)
The urologist who did the cystoscopy didn’t let me know there was any other option- it isn’t in his skill set so he didn’t even consider referring me to a reconstructive urologist. So , even though my journey isn’t as long or involved as yours, I appreciate your sharing your study to help guys like me understand there is an alternative to the barbaric surgeries pushed By most urologists. At least I had a healthy distrust of urologists after my TURP. I would never have had it if I know what I do now. Urolift didn’t exist ten years ago. Again. Thanks for your story. I eagerly awIt what this doctor will evaluate and what advice he will give me.
That’s bladder neck contracture. Just know there are solutions than dealing with pads and diapers. Good luck and don’t give up hope. Be sure you have a urologist from a really good institution and definitely get a second opinion, if possible.
Step one get a female reconstructive surgeon, unless you like pain. ask if they do mitomycen injections. I’ve had over 40 treatments for strictures. My doc told me it might take two treatments to be 100%, it’s been a year and only had less then 50% regrowth. If any uro says they want to do an in office dilation with a local insist on sedation, if they refuse smile and tell them they are fired.

I can relate to each and every thing which this guy spoke about. The same story goes for me as well but with a different doctor.
How did you overcome this?
