I've read stupid reviews about this album. He may have retreated into a comfort zone, but it's HIS OWN fucking comfort zone. He created himself the very most of the sound of Call The Comet, basically it's the best Smiths sound spiced with a grain of Joy Division, which in my book is great. Most importantly, the tunes are absolutely inspired. For me, his best solo album, and beats anything released by Morrissey in this century.
Michael Wilson This is a pastiche of TQID and late 80s New Order. Great track, better than anything I’ve heard from Moz in a long time, but “forward looking” it isn’t.
I was thinking New Order myself. I didn't make The Queen Is Dead connection but after another listen your absolutely right. I do wish Marr would team up with Benard Summner one last time with Electronic to hear what they're capable of since they seem to be improving with age.
This is the very definition of forward thinking: a man that never stopped looking ahead! And his guitar work is unparalleled. You got my vote for that GUITAR WORLD cover!!! Truth be told, James Doviak should also be featured - they are an unbelievable duo!
I like the Ford Corsair! - I guess the link is it came out in 1963, the same year as Johnny. The difference is the Corsair only made it to 1970 and Johnny's still going strong. Great Stuff!
sirka067 & alternate_junkie, my comment is based off of the fact that Tom Petty himself said that he didn't think much of his voice as a singer and it makes me reflect on Johnny how he may have felt when he decided to look for a frontman for the smiths instead of how he is now. Both are elite guitarist and both have their own unique sounds.
I keep hearing 'pass the bar that wrecks your body and the church all they want is your money' here and there. and rightfully so, the man wrote all the smiths' music :)
Make your way to the edge of the world Last horizon calls winter sound Catch the clouds pour down from the sky Come to me, evaporate And my day stands so still Shoot the burning star in my eye Call the comet, ride it so far Come to me, evaporate Someone guide me above Streams of silver and gold Ride the comet, ride it so far Come with me, evaporate Tracers, they come for all here They come to call us all here Tracers, they know we've lost the way Take all the love we lost here and scatter it away Silver thoughts from above And the world stands too still Here they come for our heart Come and we evaporate The tracers, they come to our hill They come to call for all here Silver and gold pulls all the weight They come to calm us all down Take all the love, we're lost here It's all because we're lost here Silver and gold glows all so clear The tracers, they've come for all and they've scattered it away
Klaüs Smooth I was trying to think what this sound reminds me of and just saw your heartagram logo. Not listened to HIM in a decade but Johnny Marr sounds like Ville Valo here
Johnny says it's his favorite song from ‘Call The Comet’. Maybe ours too. Let's hear all 12 songs. But The Tracers video is really wonderful. Great job!
He has every right to recycle his old Smiths compositions, but after listening about a quarter of the way through this I really just want to put on The Queen Is Dead instead.
Great video...cool Corsair too. Btw, any chance you can help me get your new 7" single...the scalpers moved in very quickly and are already taking 'pre-orders' on eBay for £40! The bastards!!
Somebody asked me if rock was dead yesterday, I said people have been saying that for a long time, and then i stumbled on to this little gem... Rock is still kickin' ass!
What an album, what a song (reminds me, at certain points, of Serpent’s Kiss by The Mission). Also, just recently having heard the interview on Absolute Radio, my admiration grows.
Slightly reminiscent of The Queen is Dead. The drums especially.
I heard it straight away. Same tempo and similar musically as well.
Agree with you 100%
More than slightly.
'I want to believe'....
Joy Division vibe
A serious band, every video looks like they would be punished for cracking a smile. Like the music though.

Agreed. Maybe Morrisey created some epic tunes, but his carreer has not been this solid. Johnny Marr is the best from United Kingdom
This guy better be on the cover of GUITAR WORLD soon instead of those tired metalheads. Marr is forward thinking!

Yes!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, the man, the myth, the legend. Johnny Fuckin' Marr!
I feel a big Joy division pressence
phil harrison I hear These Days by JD.
Dawn Bachmann yup
I like the Ford Corsair! - I guess the link is it came out in 1963, the same year as Johnny. The difference is the Corsair only made it to 1970 and Johnny's still going strong. Great Stuff!
Just waiting for the record and the new tour.
I'm eletric with this song, new classic.
André Mattos *electric
Aidan Amphlett Thanks
Very 80's new wave, great track!
Great tune , Johnny fucking Marr, guitar 🎸 maestro.
Impressive. About time we had guitars and gloom back.
tremenda banda , johnny sos un musico impresionante. abrazo de Argentina!!!
Trancers, what a epic track, Johnny Marr 😎🇬🇧 legend.
the queen is dead drums in this song. and bass is similar too
Love it a classic ❤❤❤
Brilliant track , haunting for sure . Classic Johnny Marr guitar .
Ford Corsair yeah go Johnny!
INDIE Riff KING is back!
If the lyrics had included a bit more "death", "blood", and "dark heart" I would swear it was a lost Sisters of Mercy track.
Totally reminded me of Sisters of Mercy as well!
LIKE SEVERINA BY THE MISSION
And mission
We may have lost Tom Petty but we still have Johnny Marr.
Keith Smith they’re not comparable and that’s not up for debate.
Not even close to being comparable. Petty was middle of the road, bland American rock. Marr is way beyond Petty.
That's a petty comment to make.
I like them both personally
sirka067 & alternate_junkie, my comment is based off of the fact that Tom Petty himself said that he didn't think much of his voice as a singer and it makes me reflect on Johnny how he may have felt when he decided to look for a frontman for the smiths instead of how he is now.
Both are elite guitarist and both have their own unique sounds.
I love this track thank Johnny marr
Johnny Marr...tease me, please me, rock my world...love this!! Your music is stellar...and you shine!! So ready for more...♥♥♥
僕の愛するギターヒーローは今回もめちゃかっちょいい!一気にテンションを上げてくれます♪歌声はもちろん、曲が本当に素晴らしい♪
I keep hearing 'pass the bar that wrecks your body and the church all they want is your money' here and there. and rightfully so, the man wrote all the smiths' music :)
Looks like the Moors, what they're traveling through. Christ, the souls of dead children are STILL floating around there.
The boy done good.
When he announced this album I came. Hard.
Cracking tune Johnny...looking forward to the album and tour this year! 😀
Not the worst song ever, but the windscreen wipers are annoying - rain showing from inside the car, but not from the outside....pay attention, Mr Marr
Definitely a bit of a Guy Ritchie vibe to this. These four plotting some grand caper.
Make your way to the edge of the world
Last horizon calls winter sound
Catch the clouds pour down from the sky
Come to me, evaporate
And my day stands so still
Shoot the burning star in my eye
Call the comet, ride it so far
Come to me, evaporate
Someone guide me above
Streams of silver and gold
Ride the comet, ride it so far
Come with me, evaporate
Tracers, they come for all here
They come to call us all here
Tracers, they know we've lost the way
Take all the love we lost here and scatter it away
Silver thoughts from above
And the world stands too still
Here they come for our heart
Come and we evaporate
The tracers, they come to our hill
They come to call for all here
Silver and gold pulls all the weight
They come to calm us all down
Take all the love, we're lost here
It's all because we're lost here
Silver and gold glows all so clear
The tracers, they've come for all and they've scattered it away
Thank you!
I love a music video that looks like a sixth-form group project
are those guys twins? they look alike. fuckin A car.
Just saw Johnny last night in Los Angeles...this man is one of the worlds few remaining ROCKSTARS!
Reminds me of Queen is Dead and a little Bigmouth
Mediocre at best, video rubbish....hope album better
Drums reminds me of The Queen is Dead song, very Smithsy + Johnny's voice, which is better in my opinion.
Klaüs Smooth I was trying to think what this sound reminds me of and just saw your heartagram logo. Not listened to HIM in a decade but Johnny Marr sounds like Ville Valo here
Siempre evolucionando, grande Johnny!!!
Eu adorei essa música, muito foda...
Me lembra o som psicodélico dos anos 80!!!
Fuckin' Marr !!!
I like it (always)
From the get go this is a fun song I Love 💙 The Band.
Would be so much better without the owl sounds...
This is a cool song, but such a pointless video.
Jesus fanging bryce. This is ...just
Cosmic pop... Johnny Marr as NGHFB
Love the video, I think Marr is taking a ride with his best friend. Lol
This tunes alright but I prefer Hi, Hello. Not being funny.
this is really fuckin good.
pretty dark. I love Johnny :D
Where is bro going
Mad at Morrissey? No need. You get more out of Marr.
Classic Guitar from the legend JM
Cant be bad its got a goddamn tambourine
Thank you for bringing back the 80's!
The best thing I've heard from Johnny Marr. Love it
Woah, love this one! Can't wait for June!!!
Some velvet morning.
Fuckin' Marr strikes again!
Cracking tune...love the bass in this💯
I prefer Johnny Marr than Moz's current creative and constraining phase...
My parents had a Corsair.
One of my favorite guitarist . Marrs solo career just keeps gaining momentum and getting more and more awesome
johnny fuckin marr!
Each Marr's song make me feel like I am born again to the Music. My brain exploded.
Some cool photography in this quite different but still 'marr' like it
That road at the start looks very much like the A58 out of Ripponden to the tops then down to Littleborough. *road geek*
Nah it looks like the road to Fochriw by Merthyr
I love this comment thread. I just wish I knew enough about the A roads of western Great Britain to be a part of the discussion!
Jon Pountney fellow Welshie?
Listen at half speed
Johnny Fuckin' Marr
Brazil is waiting for Johnny Marr
child in time?
💙
I'm hearing this song, Johnny.
Thank you Mr. Johnny Marr.
How’s slow is that car going?
*_Agosto 2018_*

Editors.
Johnny says it's his favorite song from ‘Call The Comet’. Maybe ours too. Let's hear all 12 songs. But The Tracers video is really wonderful. Great job!
Check out a Darker Places "These Walls". Music heavily inspired by The Smiths and Johnny Marr.
V bunnymen
My first motor was a corsair with a 1600 cortina GT engine with twin Webers... it's been all downhill since that jam jar... great song.. JM4PM x
Uuu U !!!
Reminds me last season of twin peaks somehow
Somebody asked me if rock was dead yesterday, I said people have been saying that for a long time, and then i stumbled on to this little gem... Rock is still kickin' ass!
What an album, what a song (reminds me, at certain points, of Serpent’s Kiss by The Mission). Also, just recently having heard the interview on Absolute Radio, my admiration grows.
A Joy Division single with Mike Joyce on drums and Ian Mc Culloch on vocals...Love It
A track simmering in what feels like a Joy Division vibe, gelling with the sheer madness of the Smiths’ “Queen Is Dead” title track 🤫😆
Johnny's two solo albums and this song don't blow me away but I look forward to the new material regardless.
I would recommend going to the doctor, try to get your ears cleaned...
P K I think the b sides are superior to most of the singles from his solo albums, but it will be interesting to hear this album in its entirety.
I'm a sucker for a good woo-ing! The lyrics are pretty rad, too.
I would do anything to be this man's backup guitar or bass. Dream come true stuff there. Hit me up, Johnny!
Love Johnny Marr and the fact he's still creating music. It just wasn't like the old days anymore No, it wasn't like those days
This shit is lit 💯 Lmk if theres anything i can do for you bless up
Naff video. What is he looking at?
Your soul
You' are amazing...your intelligence and creativity are unique.
I hope to see you soon in Mexico.
Love the simplicity of this video. He's really hit form with album. Love the guy.
