“Something” yes, but without RL that can’t be reprinted/shinier with Waifu art in a super prism print everyone wants, they’ll never spike the way old boxes did.
Name a box that has. A couple hundred bucks? Sure. Rando set with a hot land cycle? Maybe $500
      But thousands?
Never again. Not without a promise to never reprint.
And they’d NEVER do that again. Too much $$$ in reprints.

Its a collectible card game. If you cant afford the pieces, proxy them. If the cards dont have value, people dont buy boxes, and the game dies. Everyone has this sense of entitlement to own the actual card without working for anything. How long have you been playing? How long WILL you be playing?

Looks like there's demand for game pieces that appears to be driven by players, and when the demand exceeds the supply, the cards become more expensive. 🤔
It's almost like there's an unavoidable built in economy and that the game was purposefully designed to be like this to trigger and drive away the Gamepiece Goblins.

    • @therealtimmy13
      @therealtimmy13 10 месяцев назад +2

That’s been a “fear” since I can remember, and here we are 30 years later and if you let someone build a deck with anything they want, they still choose at least 1/3 vintage cards, if not more, depending on the deck.
They’re the most powerful few dozen cards ever printed, and power creep still hasn’t made viable replacements for them.
As long as Hasbro upholds the RL, there is zero concern.
Of course if they ever did, you’d have a mana drain/sol ring/demonic tutor situation where they aren’t “worthless”, but then only the collectible value would matter.

So, it was way better for the little guy to buy singles before, now it's marginally better (probably fixed with play boosters)? Because that's the takeaway for people who can't afford a collector box to begin with.
    Two unrelated things:
    - collectors hoarding collector boosters
    - players buying singles
Both are worthy. Draft/set boosters where meh, play boosters apparently are a disaster.

I buy a fair amount of MTG as a collector and Commander player. Single value usually reflects the usefulness of the card. Opening a whole box and not getting any cards with decent single card calue indicates to me the good cards aren’t there. MKM has proven that. Other than Leyline of the Guildpact, nothing out of main set has gone in my decks. And not everyone plays 5 color.

Sheoldred is really expensive because every format wants it, and now we're in an RCQ cycle where Standard cards matter and they're being bought out at a rate that they hasn't been since WotC killed the pro tour.

I hear claims that he "PUMPS" the products by encouraging people to get excited for a set in order to "DUMP" the product he obtained from distributors for a cheap price by selling them to Patrons.
I assume the idea is Rudy is aware that the product isn't worth what he sells it for but doesn't care and is interested in just "scamming his patrons". Perhaps people outside of Patron leveraged money that they couldn't afford because they heard Rudy get hyped for a set only to have that set not make "easy chicken tendies".
I started playing in Odyssey 2001. Took breaks throughout the years, had financial struggles. Loved watching Rudy to keep informed. I finally had excess money in 2022 and decided to buy into boxes. I got 1x Modern Masters 2022 draft & collectors, 1x Dominaria United set & collector, 1x Unfinity Draft. I realized after these sets came out that the print run was insane & the hatred for Magic 30... It became a terrible time to invest into MTG.
I guess my point in bringing it up is... I didn't over leverage my finances to buy these boxes. I'm not "stuck holding bags". The boxes sit in my closet and I like to think one day they'll be fun to crack or to sell to someone else. I bring it up because... I technically got burned investing into sealed product because I got in when I did...
And yet I don't hate Rudy for it. I would have never bought these had I not watched Rudy's videos. Does that mean he's responsible for my investment? No. Does that mean his opinion is invalid because of the value of my investment? Lmao... no.
I'd love for a hater to break this down without being cryptic/vague and saying shit like... "If you look around and don't see the mark" type of bullshit. Anyone taking the time to write something but not actually giving context to their grievances they can kindly go back to MTGLion and stay out of the conversation.

Community Manager Timmy here from Timmy’s Card Emporium. I was playing cards with mother last night, and told her all about you evil Rudy. She said you’re no better than those infomercials that sold her everything back in the day. We are on to you Rudifina.

Oh, no, I want game pieces to be cheap, and simultaneously I want to get only the most rarest and exclusive cards, and then that they be worth a lot . . . It's complicated. ( -.-)

LOL you can't get the pin of shame award with such low-grade milquetoast comment, bruh. You need to say out loud some hard-hitting ugly truth about Rudy's business model, so he can ironically pin you to hide it in plain sight. 👌👍

Rudy you sit at the end of videos and contemplate what "you" or "we" should be talking about next- but your biggest shortcoming is not being able to see what isn't right in front of your face OR what is from the past. I dare you to find that teeny tiny creative bone in your body, and use it to talk about what is coming after Fallout for the rest of the year with Magic. You seem to forget that RIGHT after Fallout is a Cowboy themed set. A certain number of ppl are gonna go nuts over that! 🤠 That's not even mentioning the Furry-based set coming even later this year. Tell me people will be talking about Cappena or Kamigawa when that rolls around- bc I don't see it happening.

If all the products become universes beyond then the Magic sets with lore will be valuable. The unpopular sets were my favourites. Mostly because I like a set based on how much the art reminds me of the older cards.

They're probably just taking a break from the world around them, but I get your point. I had someone arguing me about what an opinion was earlier, and all that I could think of was the world burning around us as I'm engaged in this nonsense conversation that changes nothing lol.

You're equally concerned with paper considering how much investment into war board games you've shown on your channel.
The pot calling the kettle black.
What does the world decaying or not being awake to it's decay have anything to do with this??
You act like each individual has the power alone to prevent the world from decaying but are selfishly choosing cardboard instead.
