When I was 5 I ate a chocolate birthday cupcake and came home sobbing because I thought jehovah was going to destroy me. This shit is psychologically damaging to children
So true. This is the incredible harm caused to jw children that the outside world never sees because the severe abuse is disguised as petty, minor incidents and inconsequential upsets, that jw parents shrug off and minimize, and outsiders ignore or overlook.
It’s truly unbelievable how they damage kids imagine not teaching uour kids to just say thank you and appreciate an expression of gratitude I know even as an atheist if someone gave me a bible I would thank them cause that’s the human thing to do regardless.
When I was 16 I signed a birthday card work a colleague when the card was passed to me in front of a bunch of other workmates. I felt sick with guilt for the rest of the month. It sticks with you. I had flashbacks to this moment years later.
Notice how he ostracizes himself at school, standing alone across the playground agonizing about committing a sin while his peers enjoy an innocent treat. How disturbing.
My thoughts too. The poor little thing is watching normal kids have a normal life and so badly wants to be part of that, and be accepted and join the fun. But he's brainwashed into making the choice to be left out. Brings back so many of my own childhood memories of the same thing. So badly just wanting to be a normal kid, but being guilted into not.
Distributing? It's disgusting this is Trauma and happens in real life these poor kids have to self isolate from the rest of the other kids their social foundations are destroyed from the start.
They constantly put their "organization"/members on a massive guilt trip,it's really about destroying confidence and keeping you indoctrinated and living in fear.
Fan fiction: After Caleb and Sophia survive this pandemic, it plants a seed in them to start asking questions about the prophetic “end of times”. Asking these questions result in shunning from the org, to which Caleb and Sophia begin questioning their entire religion and decisions. As they get older, they grow wiser and more aware of the propaganda from their religion. When they turn 18, Caleb tells his parents that he’s moving out, going to college and starting a new life without the religion. They can choose to keep in touch with him or shun him from their lives. After Caleb walks out, Caleb pulls out a cupcake, takes a bite of it and enjoys the taste of a new, liberating life. “GODDAMN, that’s good.” He exclaims, beginning his new journey.
I want to see an Avengers Endgame level of team-up with all the apostates against the Thanos of the organization, the Watchtower. Caleb yelling, “Apostates, assemble.”
What's crazy is that there are many stories within the Bible where there were celebrations. Don't we celebrate the birth of Jesus every year? There was also a parable of a father celebrating the return of his son after being missing. They celebrated by cooking a lamb roast.
@Hobo Pumpkin that's the entire point. They don't want people as we know them. They want Witnesses to raise their kids into Jehovah-spreading robots with no identity other than JW. It's absolutely mental to me how this cult has been going for so long.
When I was 7 I helped my friend’s grandmother decorate her Christmas tree because she was getting old and couldn’t do it herself. I remember feeling so guilty I was physically ill (nausea/vomiting) and kept it secret for 3 years before I broke down crying and finally told my mother. A child should not experience that level of guilt over something so trivial.
I am so sorry to hear this happened. I hope that now this new knowledge can provide you with the clarity and peace you need to stay strong and overcome this- to know that you did that out of the kindness out of your heart, and not out of sin. I cannot imagine how that would feel, but your comment really opened my eyes even more to what goes on behind the scenes. Keep sharing your story, you can use this to help others going through similar things. I'll keep you in my thoughts, you got this.
Oh and I bet Sofia will also revolt, but she might be a bit sneakier about it (she’s been shown to be quite smart in previous installments of this series,) but it might become obvious when and if she decides to go to college. The “perfect” cookie cutter religious kids always revolt. Never underestimate their capacity to revolt.
Well the birthday boy seemed nice though the one who offered the cupcake I think either the birthday boy or the big blond dude gave Caleb the toy he had to throw I makes sense with how Each of them is treating him birthday boy suspecting something and blond boss dude being pissed about the toy.
I know right The kids my kingdom hall always make fun of me and bully me but the kids at my school accepted me from the first day I went to the school.
The gross thing to me is that they seemingly give Peter's "sin" and Caleb's "sin" the same weight. Peter was in fear for his life if he admitted to following Jesus, that he may face a torturous execution on the cross alongside him, and so denied Jesus. Caleb didn't want to admit that there was a rule against celebrating birthdays because he was ashamed that he'd been caught out, so denied knowing about the rule. How are these remotely equivalent? The seriousness of fearing execution if Peter admitted knowing Jesus, versus the fear of being caught out by his classmates if Caleb admitted celebrating birthdays was not allowed. The fact that Caleb felt he had disappointed god just as much as Peter had and that the consequences would be the same is disgusting to me. And the consequence of disappointing jehovah is permanent death instead of eternal life! You shouldn't end up with PTSD over wanting to eat a delicious cupcake. It's emotional abuse in my opinion.
We're talking about Jehovah's Witnesses. Jesus wasn't hung on a cross in the JW's religion. He was hung on a steak with his hands above his head rather than stretched out to the sides. You're confusing Jehovah's Witness with an entirely different religion.
@@RialVestro Beg pardon. I am not, nor ever was, a JW so I am not versed in all the details. I don't think how Jesus was executed means I am confusing the religion with a completely different one. They believe that Jesus lived. They believe Jesus was executed. They believe Peter denied Jesus because he was afraid of the same fate. They believe a child will suffer that same ultimate fate (eternal death) if he eats a moist, delicious cupcake on someone's birthday. I don't think details like the manner of Jesus's execution are the takeaway points here.
The sin was not the cupcake. The sin was when he denied going to the kids house to talk about religion. THAT is the sin he's comparing to Peter denying knowing Jesus. He denied his faith, as Peter did. Because he didn't want to be embarrassed in a group of kids that were all judging him. I'm not saying that the message is right, I don't think it is. But you missed what the cartoon was actually saying.
@@SakkaraKirax I am not, not was I ever a JW either. My mom is so I have studied their version of the Bible despite the fact that I've never really believed in any religion. How Jesus was executed is important to which religion you're talking about. We're discussing Jehovah's Witnesses which do not believe in the cross, in your original post you specifically mentioned the cross which is in fact a completely different religion. This means you have in fact confused the JW religion with a different religion because your description of Jesus sacrifice on the Cross does not happen in the Jehovah's Witness religion. All the other stuff you said is true, and I agree it's stupid but it helps if you're going to criticize someone's beliefs if you actually know what those beliefs are instead of assuming something from an entirely different religion. BTW here's something crazy... According to the Jehovah's Witnesses own Bible, Jesus was Jewish and taught religion as a Jew... yet according to JW all other religions including the Jewish religion that Jesus himself taught are Pegan and false... This is something that was literally taught to me as a kid that made no sense to me. If Jesus was Jewish, and taught people during his time as a Jew, then why not just be Jewish instead of Jehovah's Witness? It seems like if Jehovah wanted people to be Jehovah's Witnesses, that Jesus would of taught people as a Jehovah's Witness. If Jesus was Jewish and people really believe the word of Jesus is true then they should all be Jewish. It doesn't make any sense why people are saying they believe the word of Jesus yet they're actively defying the word of Jesus by not being Jewish. I'm not sure if any other religions have this problem but it's something about Jehovah's Witnesses I find to be self defeating of their own religion.
As I see it, Calib was late for school because he was getting his daily talking to by his parents. So he forgets his lunch. Poor guy was hungry, that's why he swiped the cake 🎂. Blame the parents.
I'll always remember 6th grade and when a fellow student had a birthday with cupcakes handed out. I went to grab one and another JW student put her hand out to stop me from grabbing and said "no she can't!" And I was so embarrassed and sad about it. Another JW student did same to me in Kindergarten when I put my hand on my heart for pledge of allegiance. JW kids were taught from a young age to watch and police other JW kids
Ericutz4thewin. Can You Just See "Sister Beagle" as a Kindergartener?🤣😂 "You Can't Use THAT crayon! It's UNICORN BLUE! Jehovah would not approve. Bad Bad Bad!" 😂😂🤣🤣
There’s so much wrong with this episode and how it paints family relations and mental health. 1) They lectured their child so much that he was late to school. Seriously, that’s not a normal family relationship. That’s unhealthy. You should not begin your day right off the bat by lecturing your child with heavy topics. It should be light conversation at breakfast. 2) The parents didn’t ensure he had his lunch. Caleb appears to be 7-8 years old. Kids are forgetful. They should’ve been better about taking care of their child and his needs, but instead it’s all about lecturing. 3) Caleb was isolated from his friends because of the absorption of his religion. This is where a religion becomes a cult. When someone cannot live their normal life because of a religion, it is now a cult. 4) Caleb literally had his entire day ruined by guilt over a goddamn cupcake. THAT IS NOT HEALTHY!! It is very important that kids be taught emotional regulation at a very young age. Kids should be able to move on from an injury, actual fight, or other disruptions in their day with a little bit of encouragement and first aid. A child should NOT have THAT MUCH emotional distress over such a small thing. 5) Caleb didn’t even eat the cupcake!! He just got his nose dirty! He didn’t even fucking eat it! Don’t forget, he literally had no food. And he’s expected to watch everyone else eat while he is hungry. He is a growing boy, he is probably really hungry. 6) He is already feeling guilt over nothing at all, but his parents COMPARE IT TO TREASON!! That is horrible!! They are encouraging their child to feel immense and day-ruining guilt because of a miniature sin. All in all, this is super unhealthy. This family dynamic is toxic and this religion is not good for Caleb’s mental health.
And : His mother just patted His back. But He Had to wait for His father to ne released from His Feelings. Since He is this small and I Bet Not in after-school-daycare He Had to wait hours being sad and afraid of God not liking him
This comment needs more upvotes. You helped break down the subtle messages in this animation. Even now as an adult I am so incredibly triggered by someone asking me more than one question in a row (my parents used abusive interrogation tactics as if I wad a criminal) and being lectured to makes me freeze
Kids are curious. If Caleb mentioned that he wasn’t allowed to celebrate birthdays within the past month or so then they would ask. They wouldn’t be so accusatory though
If Caleb had previously made a big deal about other kids celebrating birthdays and tried to lecture them about the evils of it, then you'd better believe the other kids would be questioning him. Kids are all about what's "Fair." But that's the fault of Caleb's parents, for intentionally alienating their child for their cult.
@@GoddoDoggo Caleb probably did lecture his classmates about the evils of it. Remember the episode where Sofia and her mom were talking about a classmate that had two moms and how Sofia was instructed to tell the kid about the paradise and all that shit? oh god I’m talking about caleb and Sofia lore what is wrong with me
Exactly, I was mad as hell that he's being made to feel like shit because he's eating a so called "worldly" cupcake & say it's the same shit as peter rejecting jesus, those two examples have nothing to do with each other, damn I feel for this kid he can't enjoy anything without it being satanic.
Well one of the things which helped to wake me up was by washing the culpability by realizing that the most horrific humans who have lived (Say Adolf, Stalin, or all kind of psychopaths and serial killers), will have the "same sentence" than someone having "faded out"... And at some point I couldn't believe that a "good god" will make things like the worst people on earth, if they have live their full live, long, well fed, exploiting everybody, will die having a "fun life", while the humbles, the nice, the victims of murders etc. have to suffer on the basis of just a hope, told to us by another... human... It started to break all respect I had for Christianity (and Religion), realizing it was really the best thing for "good people" to shut up, and leave the parasites flourish and abuse everybody... Anyway, this is very a dirty indoctrination.
But so what if Peter actively denied Jesus? If it would save my friend trouble, I would insist they would deny knowing me. In what way would it benefit Jesus or Peter to acknowledge their relationship? Why was Jesus not happy his pupil got out of a bad situation? And why didn't he forgive him right away? I'm sorry, but I don't understand a thing about this so called 'betrayal'.
Don't take this as me defending JW, but the guilt wasn't so much about eating a cupcake, as denying the teachings of his faith when confronted. You may have noticed that the resolution was him talking to his friends at the end. With the implication that he was properly proselytizing like a good brainwashed child.
So, eating sugar at a friend's party is like abandoning your best friend while he has to suffer an unjust death sentence. Gotcha. This won't be mentally abusive and misleading at all, to little kids. ... poor Caleb.
I think it's laying the foundation for a future atheist. Having said that, sugar is actually really bad and we shouldn't encourage people to eat it, (unless it's in the raw food)
@@CheepchipsableYou're right, although sugar is also very important for type 1 Diabetics, like me And those who suffer just from Hypoglycemia itself (Too low bloodsugar), without diabetes
@ASHLEY MENCIA-MENDEZ Get out of here, you wretched propagandist. Our destiny and our growth belong to us, and anything that tries to take that away, be it with paradise or punishment, deserves to die.
No one tell the, that jesus attended a wedding and even supplied wine. Also we celebrate jesus’ bday so why not cant they celebrate? Even Christians think Jehovah’s Witness is like a cult
I was still a JW at the time and I remember showing the infamous 'magic toy' Caleb video at a household, and a lady in the room exclaimed "poor kid!" LOL! She felt so sorry for Caleb being brainwashed. I remember feeling embarrassed. My preaching partner tried to defend the video. I apologize to any and everyone I ever tried to bring into this dangerous cult.
I would like to echo that apology. I was a pioneer, and although I never studied with anyone all the way through to baptism, I had a few "progressive" studies that about halfway through the Bible Teach book stopped answering the doors.... rightfully so.
This isn't "faith" in God but indoctrination into a cult that pays very thin lip service to the teachings of Christ. Trust me spend time at a Lutherian Church it's not this crazy.
@@Bee.sBzzwords Something to do with "don't consume blood" being in the bible... which I'm pretty sure was included to ensure people cooked their meat thoroughly so they wouldn't die. It's such a weird rule. They have so many weird rules.
@@forestgrump4723 yeah it was probably for what you say, just as for muslin the prohibition about pig came from pig transmitting illnesses back then because they didn't knew how to cook it right, and more examples like that.
@@nessyness5447 It's more to do with climate rather than cooking. Pig shit contrary to manure and other animal waste, is very conducive to illnesses, made worse by heat. It also poisons the soil. In places that are already kind of arid, it's kind of a problem to then grow cultures on the farm, while most of the other animal's waste can be used as fertiliser. Some of these "aggricultural" ordinances are quite sound if taken with the technological and sanitary state of the time and place. People being people tho, a bit of "fear of god" went a long way in enforcing such laws. We see the same effect with the black plague in Europe and ordinances regarding burial practices (hence the modern term "six feet under", that became a rule to dispose of the dead during the plague) with religious justifications ordered by monks (who were the main doctors at the time).
Imagine being “Jehova” having to cry everytime a kid celebrating his birthday... Then Jehovas mother comes in “Jehovaaa, are you saad again? :( aw come here, surely some kid will offer his life to you soon by not accepting blood”
I knew a mom in the hall that told me her 8 year old son told her he wished that he would die before Armaggedon came because he thought he wouldn't be able to be able to stay loyal during "The Great Tribulation". So he wished for death so he wouldn't die at Armaggedon. I couldn't believe that this was not alarming to her or anyone that would hear this come from a childs mouth! Such pressure for a child to carry around with them.
Yes... I had even planned my suicide at 20 if I couldn't become "useful"... I had the chance to met my expectation a few months before... I told it to my father, I think he doesn't realize really what that meant.
I always had this thought process, because I felt like my life had no meaning outside the organization, so I felt like the only way to escape was to end it, that way I wouldn't have to worry about armageddon or messing up. Its very awful
I remember being told that you needed to be young enough to “ride on your parents coattails” otherwise you had to be judged at the tribulation. And I member thinking at the age of seven but I still young enough to ride on my parents coattails whatever the hell that meant!🤦🏻♀️
I had similar feelings at similar age. At 8 or 9 I continually hoped to be run over by the schoolbus so I could die before the age of accountability. By the time I was a teenager I had full-blown suicidal ideation and made a half-hearted attempt when I was 13 or 14. Ironically, what prevented me from going through with it was the fear I would be resurrected and still be stuck in the same situation. Suicide remained my intended end for years afterwards- a way of assuring myself that i had control over my own fate. I made several more attempts in my early 20s. It wasn't until I reached my 30s that the urge began to fade. I still get to deal with the anxiety and depression though.
Any normal parent would be extremely concerned if their child told them that. Any normal parent. Not JW parents. They are more concerned about how their child ate some birthday cake. I have some JW relatives that chose not to have children "on this side of Armageddon". But that was probably the best choice. I hate to think, how goofed up a child would be with cult parents like them. I think that they made the best choice. Smart move, I'll give them that.
Exactly. Religion is meant to be comforting. Your relationship with a deity is meant to make you feel safe and loved rather than controlled and anxious.
Yeah I left when I was about 13 and this brought back anxiety about wanting cupcakes at school :( I'm really glad my family isn't as cultish/die-hard as so many seem to be, so I'm allowed to refrain from church and study. (Sksjfhd I sound so serious lmao)
I hope you are doing alright these days. This is a hard thing to get over. You are not wrong or bad, you are just trying to live a normal and healthy life. Enjoying happiness is a normal and healthy part of your life. Please remember this when times are hard.

@@mcclx4183 Nothing, I was surprised to discover the whole smurf stories in the english speaking country... Smurfs were not demonized when I was a kid, it was even very common, but in France, Peyo is a french speaking cartoonist, so maybe it was a blend with "anti-french" and superstition... In France we had a surge of "voodoo style" manifestation, some experience "poltergeist", other seeing ghosts when kids (probably the well know sleep paralysis effect), and a very specific French (even catholic in fact) belief that some sorcery was done inside feather pillows, like "crux" or such things... It's documented as a very local event in northern France in early 50s, and "strangely" this stuff appeared in the 80's in many French congregation... and just in JW congregation of course that was not publicized as the real "witch hunt" which had happened in the fifties and was publicized in news papers. When I did the research and I saw that this was officially, outside JWs, just one "well known" event, I realized that it was probably local superstitions which was propagated inside french congregations, from, probably ex-catholic bigots from the original event. Being "outside" now I see how superstitious they are... This cupcake stuff IS clearly superstitious... Boouh you eat something, toasted ! Sorry for my clumsy english: I'm french, and should be sleeping for hours :).

Worse than this video, this is the way my mother actually raised me by her own words, long before there were even videos being produced. So so sad.........
That's to show up how all 'worldly people' have bad intentions and are considered as bad associations. Theres no good to be found in ordinary everyday people, only JW's condider themselves nearer to their idealist impression of perfection.
Let's see, the things this Jehovah is okay with: Tsunamis, cat 5 hurricanes, slavery, genocide, the holocaust, storming the capitol...BUT birthday cakes, HE AIN' HAVIN' IT!
My birthday is Saturday. I’ve always celebrated. I was only in the cult for 4 years. Even involved, I quietly ate birthday cake and gave gifts. Pathetic rule, it’s just to exert more control

+JIll Jileman Jehovah: Also remember you can't complain about this even in your thoughts, because I'm doing this out of love. If you don't accept that I'm going to destroy in armageddon violently and traumatically!
@@misterauctor7353 Yes. Pretty much. I think devotion to a higher authority is a (very understandable) infantile respons to the feelings of volnerability we experience during our lives. Statemests like "I'm made like [authority]", "He has given me X", "I obey [authority]", "He will judge me" are exactly the kinds of submissive responses a child has to a narcissistic parent. The narcissistic parent is the ultimate judge, creator of their life, and uses their child manipulatively to praise themselves. If the child questions or rebels, it is punished harshly. The ultimate purpose of the childs existense is to please their narcissistic parent with devotion, attention and respect. If not, they are discarded cruelly. "Approve of me, or you'll go to hell". Many adults have a desire to submit to such authority. Be it government, abusive partner or a god. Mostly people who feel volnerable, insecure or purposeless. It's assuring to not be responsible of making your own purpose in life, or to continually get an identity through your relationship with someone above you. The god described in the bible is vengeful, jelous, unempathic, judgemental, cruel, discriminatory and has essentially created some weak beings whos entire purpose of life and guarantee to not go to hell is to provide himself with endless worship. To solidify his manipulative "love", he sent his own child into a literal human sacrifice in a "look what you made me do" twist. As he is all-knowing, he literally sent his own child to be sacrificed, so that he could then decide to "forgive" his other child. Imagine a human father did that. For an all powerful and all knowing actor to even have emotions is an oxymoron in itself, though. All emotions are responses to threat (which an all powerful actor wouldn't meet), surprise (which an all knowing actor wouldn't experience, as they know the future) or appretiation (which someone who has it all wouldn't experience). So either god is real - and is a flawed, narcissitic psychopath. Or he is real and has no emotions, and does not care. Or he does not exist at all, which is as likely as zeus not existing, or santa claus.
This reminds me of a cartoon I once saw: A little child is eating some biscuits and dropping a lot of crumbs around. His mother sees this and says: "But look what you're doing!" The little one goes all manga-eyes and sobs: "Won't you love me anymore?" The mother replies: "Not if you're making such a mess." The kid then says: "Then your love isn't worth a sh**. Keep it to yourself!"
I watched the full animation last night. It is so disgusting and triggering. Reminded me of how I was so guilt ridden as a young boy on so many occasions. Once for being bought 'satanic' toys by my non J-dub dad as my gift for the present giving day we had once a year. (Harmless action figures) My mum shamed me into throwing the whole brand new lot of toys in the bin. @@ricksanchez1472 That's not necessarily true. It depends on the kid. This shit can take a dangerous hold very early on. For kids who take it seriously, it can be nearly impossible to break them away from it later on. What I would have wanted someone to tell me when I was young, was that I had a choice. That parents can lie to you, but not realize it themselves. That the JWs' claim to the truth is as tenuous as any other religion's. That all those very obvious flaws in logic that every kid notices are valid and worth exploring further. And that god isn't fucking real.

And then his father be like super ridiculous: “THAT WAS A ROUGH DAY!” Like a rough day for me at my work would be losing a Patients Life... But that?? There’s no sense no context behind that. Only fear mongering
A rough day at school for me was getting mercilessly bullied and getting my ass kicked all because My parents didn’t care enough about education and sending us kids to a good school outside of the crappy barrio we lived in.
I mean, Jesus and His followers probably didn't celebrate birthdays because, unlike Herod Antipas, they weren't royalty and didn't have disposable income to hold annual, individual celebrations involving delicacies and showering people with gifts. Especially when you consider how many kids a working-class family might have back then, birthdays for everyone just wouldn't have been realistic. It had nothing to do with morality and everything to do with practicality.
Just because it's not mentioned in the Bible doesn't make something evil or not true...cats aren't mentioned in the Bible and creationists claim all animals are mentioned
The American "cup cake" was introduced in America's first cookbook in 1796: American Cookery, by Amelia Simmons. Rather than celebrate how an uneducated woman's humble recipe has become a world classic, Watchtower's vilification hints at the cult hiding behind the mask of "religion". Shame on them!
Ok for almost everything but... "World Classic" ? Seriously ? Like the "US World Champions" in... the USA only.... hahahahah Sorry, I'm French with Spanish (mediterannean) roots, and "cupcakes" are the ultimate vulgarity in food, not even for pigs for us hahahaha. Just reconnected with a JW cousin recently, and we both said we never felt close to Jehovah growing up. She said she would count to 20 for her prayers lol.
I remember taking a lollipop from a packet of sweets that a child brought in for their birthday at primary school. I ate it in secret in the school bathroom because I didn't want my mum to find out and tell the elders. I felt guilty for days afterwards. Over a lollipop that a child had voluntarily given to me.
To be honest, this reminds me of the movie "Midsommar" where the ending seems all happy and sweet but the truth is so dark and disturbing. I really felt some sort of happiness, seeing that kid smile and feel better but... it masks the pain and abuse that is behind it all. It's so sad.
Lol! I’m sitting here crying watching a cartoon and I feel kinda dumb. I was in 1st grade and I really really wanted to do the fun stuff too. It was around Halloween time and the other kids were making jack-o-lantern masks to wear. I was having a good time until my mom unexpectedly popped in my class. I saw her and instantly started sobbing into her. Luckily she just held me and didn’t make me feel worse or anything, but I remember that to this day and I’m almost 30. Guilt over the dumbest smallest things. I’m so glad you make these videos that will hopefully open some eyes and help others see the truth about “the truth”. Help some kiddos in more way than one. Terrible to do that to children. I know the excuse is that bad things happen connected to birthdays. Good thing nothing bad happened during a wedding ceremony then no jws would be able to marry.
Reading the comments from the former JWs was pretty heartbreaking. I'm just an outsider and was raised to be a Chirstian but opted out. So I thought the animation was a joke to me but I'm very sorry for anyone who actually dealt with that situation. I hope everyone is okay.
I have a regret. A few years ago, my workmates at my company's national meeting gave me a birthday cupcake. I was pretty hungover, so I gave it to a buddy of mine to eat instead of eating it myself.. I should have eaten that fucking cupcake!!! Regrets...
I was never raised Jehovah Witness but my uncle was converted by his ex wife for a time and their daughter too. (My uncle and cousin got out have no idea what happened to this ex wife) but I remember my mom telling me once we were visiting and I remembered it was my cousins birthday, or something like that. I was a kid and did not understand why my cousin could and couldn't do some things that seemed weird and oddly specific. I told my cousin happy birthday or something along those lines and she got upset, my aunt started full on SHREKING at me to the point I was crying and was traumatized and my mom fought back in my defense trying to tell her that was a severe over reaction. This cult tears people apart literally. All of that drama because a kid said happy birthday
Unreal... wow. They turned Peter into some kind of a model for self-discipline, but Scripture proves that "self-discipline for God" is nothing but PHARISEE mentality. Pathetic and blasphemous as all Hell.
Damn, I actually cried. I was raised quite liberally as a JW, so I was allowed to take birthday treats (which other kids accepted because I gave "end of schoolyear" treats, so tit for tat). A childhood friend of mine (also a slightly more liberal JW) was actually bullied for wanting to take a birthday treat. We don't speak anymore nowadays (she's still a JW and I've faded 10 years ago), but I can't imagine what she must feel watching this.
I used to cry with fear when I dropped something by accident as a child. I was the type of kid that literally cried over spilled milk, something so minor and insignificant - but it stemmed from a childhood of being screamed at for minor things and having that fear being instilled into me. That was abuse. How is this any different from that? If your kid reacts this way towards something so little (given they don't have some kind of disorder)...you've messed up somewhere as a parent. It makes me quite sick, honestly. These kids have a hell of a hard time coming up. Either they'll be stuck in this hell of a controlling environment for the rest of their lives, or they'll snap out of it and face being exiled from all of their loved ones.
I remember my aunt made me feel like I killed someone from accepting a brand new free bicycle from a christmas event. It wasn’t even Christmas Day 😂😂 but they gave it to me for the holiday season but I cried when I got reprimanded but enjoyed the bike for the years to come.
While I was a toddler teacher we got a child who was jw. His mom told us that they didn’t celebrate holidays/birthdays at home but she wanted him to celebrate everything in class so that he wouldn’t feel left out. She went as far as to sign up to bring treats for class parties.
According to JW’s “Jesus never celebrated his birthday” and “the only times birthdays were celebrated in the Bible, murder was involved (John the Baptist’s head on a platter - King Herod’s birthday)”. Couple thousand years later they’re traumatizing children over birthdays, holidays, education, etc. It’s an awful place to be a child.
@@rollerturtle Id on't recall the exact title of the video, if that's what you're asing. It wasn't about CA, per say, but it dealt more with "tell an adult if someone tries to make you feel bad". I think Telltale had it on his channel a while back.
Yeah, they need make that video! About how Caleb and Sophia tell their parents and their parents going to the elders. The elders contact the society's legal department. The elders are told to leave it in Jehovah's hands and not to call the police for fear of bringing reproach upon Jehovah's name. Everything is handled internally, which means nothing is done. Caleb and or Sophia are told never to talk about it or they could be disfellowshipped. So Caleb and or Sophia just live with the secret. They don't want to make Jehovah sad. They go to meetings where their molester gives talks from the podium or sits in the same car when they go out in field service. It all makes the cupcake ordeal seem like a day at the beach, compared to this. Not to worry. Jehovah has it all under control.

You know I remember my JW friend, she's now a former JW. She really felt horrible about my birthday because it was a big deal for me because no one in my childhood would show to my birthday. She was sad and I told her about it. She said as JW she didn't have a birthday and I started to cry for her. She would ask what it was like to have a cake and presents. When she left we decided to celebrate her birthday which actually she chose the day she left as her birthday.

When I was 5 I ate a chocolate birthday cupcake and came home sobbing because I thought jehovah was going to destroy me. This shit is psychologically damaging to children
Omg, this is so sad. I would never do this to my kids...it’s a psychological trauma.

Yep. Sunken eyed, leering smiles.
I know right
The kids my kingdom hall always make fun of me and bully me but the kids at my school accepted me from the first day I went to the school.
@@RialVestro they actually believe that he was hung on a stake?

If Caleb was annoying to the rest of the class in some way, then they would.
Kids are all about what's "Fair."
But that's the fault of Caleb's parents, for intentionally alienating their child for their cult.
@@GoddoDoggo Caleb probably did lecture his classmates about the evils of it. Remember the episode where Sofia and her mom were talking about a classmate that had two moms and how Sofia was instructed to tell the kid about the paradise and all that shit?

@@flamelily2086 They want to instill the feeling of betrayal in kids, in order to keep them in the organization. It's evil.
Feels like it borders on child abuse.
Actually, Caleb didn't even eat the cupcake. He was tempted. Unlike Peter who did actively deny Jesus. No comparison. Major guilt tripping. 😠💩
Yes, and peter made his own choice as an adult to follow Jesus, Caleb was born in and had no say in it.
Wow good observation. They abuse kids just for even being tempted of things that aren't even forbidden in the Bible. Sick.

Sounds like a one sided friendship. One friend is happy and the other miserable!
Sound like a toxic relationship...

Exactly. Religion is meant to be comforting. Your relationship with a deity is meant to make you feel safe and loved rather than controlled and anxious.

Me too. How do you feel about Smurfs?

Jehovah: Also remember you can't complain about this even in your thoughts, because I'm doing this out of love. If you don't accept that I'm going to destroy in armageddon violently and traumatically!
@@fromeveryting29 Are you sure about that?
(Harmless action figures)
My mum shamed me into throwing the whole brand new lot of toys in the bin. I'll never forget the shame I felt, the guilt and regret... and of course abject disappointment in having been made to throw out my only gift for the year. I was about 8 years old. So Cruel...

You are cool student, so I thought giving you by my personal decision." I got a mug, but a year later, I was heartbroken when I realized what the star on the tree meant. It is worse than everyone's else mug decorated of tree, gifts, or color of green and red. Star is the God of Sun ;_; It feels like I had idol in my house for 1 whole year!

Guilt over the dumbest smallest things. I’m so glad you make these videos that will hopefully open some eyes and help others see the truth about “the truth”. Help some kiddos in more way than one. I appreciate you, Lloyd
Terrible to do that to children. I know the excuse is that bad things happen connected to birthdays. Good thing nothing bad happened during a wedding ceremony then no jws would be able to marry.
Very likely something bad happened. It's only not mentioned in the Bible.
Reading the comments from the former JWs was pretty heartbreaking. I'm just an outsider and was raised to be a Chirstian but opted out. So I thought the animation was a joke to me but I'm very sorry for anyone who actually dealt with that situation. I hope everyone is okay.
"Yes Caleb, god will come down and smite you specifically for eating a god damn cupcake."
I have a regret. A few years ago, my workmates at my company's national meeting gave me a birthday cupcake. I was pretty hungover, so I gave it to a buddy of mine to eat instead of eating it myself.. I should have eaten that fucking cupcake!!! Regrets...
I am traumatized by every single cupcake I don't eat.
👍😁
☺
Amen! 🙏
If this is the true religion, you really wouldn’t need to use so much fear, guilt and obligation to keep people in it....
This is too much anxiety to be heaping upon a child. I wouldn’t deal w/ this as an adult. And over a _cupcake??_ I don’t know how they tolerate it.
Unreal... wow. They turned Peter into some kind of a model for self-discipline, but Scripture proves that "self-discipline for God" is nothing but PHARISEE mentality. Pathetic and blasphemous as all Hell.
SAUCEY CEDARS is at it again....let's go lloyd
Damn, I actually cried. I was raised quite liberally as a JW, so I was allowed to take birthday treats (which other kids accepted because I gave "end of schoolyear" treats, so tit for tat). A childhood friend of mine (also a slightly more liberal JW) was actually bullied for wanting to take a birthday treat. We don't speak anymore nowadays (she's still a JW and I've faded 10 years ago), but I can't imagine what she must feel watching this.
It’s a shame that such good animation is wasted on such awful propaganda

So JWs can’t celebrate birthdays but can celebrate baby showers? 🧐
Such a GREAT point!!!! So many inconsistencies:( Incredibly FRUSTRATING 🤯
Under rated comment brother dwayne 😂
Yeah that doesn't make any sense
I remember my aunt made me feel like I killed someone from accepting a brand new free bicycle from a christmas event. It wasn’t even Christmas Day 😂😂 but they gave it to me for the holiday season but I cried when I got reprimanded but enjoyed the bike for the years to come.
Hope Caleb realizes he's in a cult & escapes it.
Ok that’s funny 🤣🤣🤣
@@longbeachwoman that would make his Charecter arc,
Extremely interesting but nope the 8 guys in New York wouldn't allow it.
Hope when he reaches 18
There’s a RUclips site called JW Chronicles. he has done a cartoon series on a grown-up Caleb & Sophia where they both have left the borg. 🧑🏻👩🏻
@@maryannlockwood7806 lol I've seen it
Man I hated this when I was a kid in school. No kid should grow up like this
While I was a toddler teacher we got a child who was jw. His mom told us that they didn’t celebrate holidays/birthdays at home but she wanted him to celebrate everything in class so that he wouldn’t feel left out. She went as far as to sign up to bring treats for class parties.
Birthdays celebrate life! Why would they be evil?! Fuck.
Because only "God" deserves to be celebrated and given attention 🤢😑
According to JW’s “Jesus never celebrated his birthday” and “the only times birthdays were celebrated in the Bible, murder was involved (John the Baptist’s head on a platter - King Herod’s birthday)”. Couple thousand years later they’re traumatizing children over birthdays, holidays, education, etc. It’s an awful place to be a child.
@@golong3163 yep i showed the jesus' birthday was separated. They stopped talking about it and tried to get me on track with their script instead.
They see it as “pegan” which is weird because wedding rings are pegan but they don’t care about that
Yeah a bday is just basically “congrats u lived for this long” and also to show that peeps are happy u exist
Yes, I was traumatized by guilt when I was a kid.
Where’s the Caleb & Sophia video where the parents love Jehovah more than the children and don’t go to the police when an elder abuses them?
There’s a video about “people might try to do bad things to/with you, so tell them to go away!” I’m sure it’s super helpful for CA victims. 😢
@@l3m0nfl00rwax hey how is this video called because I remember they taught about saying no but I don't recall elder molesting them
@@rollerturtle Id on't recall the exact title of the video, if that's what you're asing.
I’m so sorry this happened I went through something similar it’s been a long and hard ride to recovery but I’m getting there I wish the best for you my dear ❤️
Damn she didn’t even know her birthday☹️
great idea guys: tell kindergartners that the all-powerful creator of the universe will despise and torture them eternally for even THINKING about engaging in normal social activities with their peers. I'm sure they'll turn out _fine_ .
Even as a Catholic I can see how messed up this is! Plus the cartoon makes Peter’s denial look so silly and honestly am kind of offended at all of the “Christian parts” they screwed up! I get it they want to make there religion look more “appealing” I guess but honestly there a line between trying to turn something in your light and being down right spitting in the face of another one.
