This was, in my opinion, one of the greatest seasons in IndyCar history. And for that very reason, this is also the single most painful season of any Motorsport I have ever watched.
I agree so much. It’s much the same with the 2001 season of NASCAR. The 500 was the greatest ever ran until the last lap, then the July race with Jr winning at the same place he lost his dad.
This was the last INDYCAR race I saw in person so I am really looking forward to coming up there this weekend to watch the doubleheader with my bro! Keeping an eye on the weather though. It looks iffy for Saturday, but that won't ruin the weekend for us.
Sucks to see how little ovals we get nowadays, back then was a proper balance of street circuits ovals and road courses, sucks indycars schedule is so mediocre now, even nascars schedule is far more interesting than indycars
NASCAR/ISC have effectively gained control of the oval tracks. Anyway, even the tracks like Pocono and Phoenix that were willing to work with Indycar could not draw enough people to make any $$.
I remember being there for this race in person, and want to know: I'm pretty sure that wall of tires they made to select starting positions for race 2 is still being used as a background decoration for pre race shows isn't it?

Even if they did the lottery at current Texas, there might be a maximum of 5 passes not due to pit stops. Hope they go back to Cota and drop Texas until they care enough to at least remove the pj1.
Hey IndyCar, tell to your pals of NBC Universal that if someone from Germany or Hungary broadcast their races on RUclips, don't shut down, because in many countries we don't have your beloved peacock, well like always this series likes to shoot their foots every time. This really wasn’t a fair way to draw the grid for race 2 and it was only amplified by Power drawing 3rd while Dixon and Franchitti ended up 18th and 28th. They should have either reversed the finish order from race 1 or have those who finished 16-30 choose a top 15 spot and those who finished 1-15 have to pick a 16-30 spot.

I miss these cars so much! I also miss Danny Boy, how has it been nearly 10 years already? RIP Dan Wheldon, from England x
Don’t worry his sons are coming soon but RIP Dan
i miss these cars too, they looked awesome.
and Dan was taken too soon, i agree :(

I started to love Wheldon after Versus coverages. He was just super-funny guy.
I like old Texas a lot better than new Texas
Yep, I feel like the racing was way better too.
What changes?
@@Indy_660 Track widened and banking reduced in turns 1 and 2. Really poor change.

Ah, back when texas was a fun track and you could actually run side by side. Good times.
Bob Jenkins. One of the greats
Not sure I'm a fan of the draw for starting position, but it was actually pretty exciting. Hoping Texas produces good racing this year

This was back during the weird Danica hype train. And you can tell.
So when are we getting more than 4 oval races in a season?
Look at that crowd.
Much better than this years crowd and looked like a better race too.
I miss these days 😔
Wow how is full attendance in 2011 any different than 2021? Great job Texas
A ton more fans in this video then there has been since 2013, year i moved to dallas and have gone to most races here
this broadcast i mutch better and 2021 WTF
Start at 35:18
2:32:04 second race freezes at lap 47! does anyone has this problem?
yep, just encountered that meself. race freezes and we never see any more of it.
Oh yeah.
This race was Danica Patrick's last race at Texas in an IndyCar.
Race 2, screen freeze at 2:32:03. 👎
