    Growing up I personally have never given a S about a jig. After watching your video I did some research and found that todays jigs are amazing. So many colors and styles. Anyways, I've been hitting 3 ponds close to my house here in central Ohio. For the 3rd day in a row I have gone out and caught 1-3lb bass every day using a beautiful pbj buckeye lures jig. I went from never using them to making them my most go to lure. They look so pretty all set up with a nice bait cast. Throw it way out, let it drop then wait 5 seconds and you get someone's attention. Thank you so much for making me a believer of these and giving them the respect, they deserve because they work!

Can't remember if it was the bitsy bug or the other little inexpensive one they make but I do remember that it was black and brown with a black and red Zoom UV speed craw and I was pretty excited about it. Nothing crazy, maybe a pound to pound and a half but it was the coolest thing because I had zero confidence in anything happening other than loosing the jig, which I did a few casts later but it was still pretty awesome.

    I want to catch one on a jig but here in Florida there’s so much vegetation and the bottom is so muddy and weedy, makes it near impossible

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  Год назад

      I have caught lots of fish in Florida on a jig. Go lighter like 3/8, and swim it above the vegetation. Unless it’s “snot” grass, you should be able to hop the jig around the grass

    I am not sure why, but almost fishing RUclipsrs fail to mention one thing about jigs. They talk about casting a 1/2 oz jig, but fail to mention that the bait they will cast is more like 3/4 or even 1 oz after the trailer is added.

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  Год назад

      You’re right about that. But that’s a fact that I don’t think really matters. Unless you’re one to push the weight range your rod can handle, which I don’t. I throw my jigs on MH and H power rods

      I guess I just pay too much attention to the actual weight of a lure. As far as the weight rating of a rod, as Matt with TB says, it is only a suggestion. @@TylersReelFishing

    I will always stop what I’m doing for a jig video. What is your favorite brand jig?
    There are so many-I have a Buckeye Mop Jig tied on after finding more brands locally.

    I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well ruclips.net/user/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

    i see in most your bait casters you use looks like florocarbon instead of braid to floro why is that

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  10 месяцев назад

      I don’t trust the connection knot on line that size. I trust it on small line like 15lb braid to 10lb fluoro. I just don’t tie a good enough FG to go from 40lb braid to 17lb flouro
