Character Art by Nikki: t.co/ga2DwEtnsS

Steven, Greg, and amythiest may of been with ruby but the point was she's making her own decisions, she decided she wanted to be a cowboy, decided to keep going beyond the Bush, they just followed her. At the end of it all SHE decided she wanted to be with Saphire as long as Saphire also wanted that. She didn't literally have to be on her own, but think for herself, it's still was her decision to hang with Greg.
Made of Honor, Peridot and Bismuth compete in a Wed-a-lypics to see who gets to be the Maid of Honor at Ruby and Sapphire's wedding
_YES._
I would definitely pay to see that, lmao!
This show somehow KEEPS surprising me with how nuanced its messaging about self-love and relationships. Just when I think I know what it's saying, it throws a new wrinkle in that seems totally obvious in hindsight.
Where I saw this particular episode going is Ruby realizing they wanted to get back with Sapphire but we're denying it out of spite over what they said or something. The fact that she doesn't feel any ill will at all but also doesn't want things to just go back to how they were is way more interesting.
But it was already obvious that they were going get back together anyway. A lot of these arcs don't do much for the story.
Feels like if the Steven-Connie arc except if it was actually well written and more complex than just “why did you sacrifice yourself to save us, why couldn’t I be involved”
Edit: also, small detail but I like how the title is symbolically named 'the question', as the episode where they first fused into garnet was called 'The Answer'. somewhat clever symbolism there
BoxyLemons it is
I think you guys really missed the point on this one. I think the pint of the whole "western ruby" theme was to show a character who is connected by the hip by sapphire that wanted to try something new by herself. I think by the way ruby is, her being a cowboy fits. We all know she doesn't like being alone and that makes sense on why she was with Steven, Greg and Amethyst. Ruby took time for herself and experience what it's like choosing her own path. Her song reflected that. Later on she came to the conclusion she could be herself, but still wanting to be with someone else. I think this episode was well put together and the humor helped moved everything along. I'm sure we're getting a flash back in the next episode. Also, I honestly think they chose a western theme for variety. They can't only play one type of music for so long. Variety is good for diversity.
I like your added detail with the Diamond ships in the background coming closer as each episode releases. Nice touch.
God, now that they've said it, I DO want that awkward diamond wedding scenario, it'd be so terrible!!!
With the ‘literally nothing happens that connects to the ideas etc.’
The small scene with ruby diving into the bush and almost falling down the ravine is linked because it shows that ruby on her own makes reckless and dangerous decisions but that’s okay cause it was her decision
It’s quite normal after a breakup to do stupid stuff with friends to distract yourself and I think it’s a demonstration of a healthy response
Wonder what Peridot's doing in that bathroom
Probably trying to drown out all the ugly crying Pearl and Sapphire were doing lol
She being a depresso espresso in the tub
a cry-baby cock-tail?
Same thing I do when my family’s arguing; Sit in my room and don’t get involved :P
CaptainJZH
Same tbh
Peridot needs to ask lapis the question...
i need my lapidot back
):
and now i’m going to go smash my head against a wall for having a ship..
I interpreted the reasoning behind Sapphire and Ruby questioning the validity of their relationship as being connected to Rose's true status as a diamond because of the fact that initially Sapphire was concerned with the idea that Rose was subtly manipulating them the whole time. When she had her outburst in Monday's episode she referenced the fact that when Garnet first met Rose, Rose held her hands and told her to never question their relationship. The process is similar to how Pink Diamond placed her seal on Pearl, and due to her status, Sapphire is likely aware of how direct orders from the diamonds function. So it seemed like the doubts created be learning Rose's true identity caused at least Sapphire to question every interaction they had, and the one she was most concerned with was the moment they met. She twisted it from one where Rose supports Garnet because of a fundamental belief in love, to one where she saw a chance to add another pawn to her side and did what she had to do to gain it.
Jean Devrie I think that you’re the only one who saw Rose holding Garnet’s hands and compared it to what Rose did to Pearl. This one point completely ruined your theory.
Abo Abomi ruclips.net/video/X-XyGXBwBSo/видео.html go to 1:25.
julie martinez true, my point is less connected to the audience's perspective on Rose. It's more related to why the Pink Diamond reveal caused Sapphire and Ruby to break up. The doubt Sapphire is experiencing is connected to Rose being pink diamond because now she believes that everything Rose did was potentially manipulative in a way Sapphire might not even be aware of. In Now We're Only Falling Apart she directly references Garnet's first encounter with Rose as a reason why their relationship is fake. ruclips.net/video/pgVKabPyAlk/видео.html (her freak out starts at around 0:55 and the mention of the hands is around 0:58)
I thought the episode was completely adorable
I agree more with lea c on this episode, pieguy just has different taste and that’s fine
I've been waiting for this video for hours, I have finally been awarded
It’s also interesting how rose encouraged garnet to stay together while Steven learns not to
Which supports bismuth statement that Steven is better than rose
ShLee Yesss
Yeah. Because telling two people who are clearly into each other to not be ashamed of their desire to be together is so much worse than letting two people be apart if they want to.
Abo Abomi You make a valid point.
I really loved this episode. Seeing Ruby as a cowboy was definitely interesting, and seeing her try and act independent was refreshing considering we rarely see Ruby on her own. It's different, and it's really neat. I do appreciate the lighter tone too, cause i don't think _every_ SU episode has to be super serious. The song might not have been the best but it was good for what it wanted to be: a light, simple song.
Besides, the ending where Ruby proposed to Sapphire is super sweet and the dynamic between Ruby and Sapphire is so darn cute.
Bismuth needs to make the rings
Someone pick up the phone...
The Last Wind Waker i think im a sapphire
I feel like Ruby's cowboy thing came from Garnet back in the Barn arc - "Okay. I chased off those cows, now let's get to work"
"Someone's gotta keep an eye on the cows"
each time in a slightly southern accent.
Funny how the episode turn into pink diamond being rose to now ruby and sapphire are now married. What's the next episode going to be like?
Cherry pops
The marriage itself happening.
Peridot gets poofed in a battle with Bismuth to be the maid of honor and that’s how she gets her star. (Jk but I kinda hope it’s true.)
Nikki did a great job on that character art.
Everyone, look at the hands in their video, its getting closer to Earth!
Monotail woah they are
Guess they wanted to lighten the mood with Ruby’s song. Also wouldn’t it be cool if they did take down rose’s painting and have vadalia paint everyone else into it then re-hang it up to symbolize that everyone else was just as important to the existence of the crystal gems both past and present?
I think what they were going for was that Ruby and Sapphire felt pressured to stay together for the sake of the team, rather than by their own volition, to the point where Garnet felt she was struggling to enjoy being alive (from her breakdown in Pool Hopping). And their devotion to Rose (and later, the absence of Rose) was what was keeping them together. So having their view of Rose shattered forced them to reevaluate what their relationship was actually founded on (their love), which is leading to a much healthier dynamic for Garnet, imo.
I gotta be honest, I thought Ruby and Sapphire getting married wasn't going to happen, and was just a rumor.
Well it was confirmed a while ago by leaks so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
CaptainJZH I guess I didn't see all the leaks
i’m surprised cn hasn’t burned down yet by angry mothers...
they did protest outside i think when that lesbian and gay couple kissed in Star vs can’t imagine what they’re do with this.
Karma Akabane lol well that’s probably because like 90% of what’s aired on CN is teen titans go. Most people watch SU online.
TheHypershon 40
only a matter of time before CMAG sees it.
the internet is how they discovered the star thing to my knowledge
I loved this episode, I was on Lea C.'s side of the argument when it came to the episode's quality :D
That ending was a shame. It would be a pretty interesting direction If Ruby decided that they should stay apart for a few episodes. But I still like the conclusion. Her and Saphire could be really codependent at times before. I tought they would never adress that.
And they said Korra is the greatest LGBTQ representation. -coughscrewyoumsmojocough- SAPPHIRE AND RUBY ARE GETTING MARRIED!!❤
Jim's numba 1 fan ikr?
Ruby and Sapphire's relationship blows that one out the damn water.
Just noticed the arm ships are getting closer each episode. Nice detail!
Talk about Rubys off-key singing
Diet Pizza That was hard to sit through 😂
I hated the song but thought the episode was alright. Cringed a bit at the singing part though. Might have been deliberate, like kind of a yodeling influence, but I was not a fan.
Still better than Peridot's singing
Christian Thompson i think her singing was fitting for what was going on.
The song was adorable though!
This episode is even cuter when you remember Ruby and Sapphire’s relationship is based on Rebecca Sugar’s relationship with Ian Jones-Quartey! ❤️💙
I really felt like this episode was addressing the whole "codependency" argument made for Garnet's relationship that a good chunk of the critical part of SU always kept pointing out.
It had Ruby want to spend some time alone and go on her own adventures without checking in on Sapphire all the time. Like yeah, they can exist apart without having these nervous breakdowns, but it's still better when they're together but Ruby makes that decision for herself.
My thoughts: Ruby is really gay and cute and I feel that on a spiritual level XD. Long live Garnet :)
And I’m so glad I get to see the first lesbian proposal + wedding of main characters in a cartoon.
CaptainJZH they're not technically lesbian, they space rocks and have no gender
Alexa Travers Yeah but that’s a technicality. They’re clearly intended to be women. Also they’re sexless, not genderless. There’s a difference.
Still a technicality nonetheless. So you can't call them lesbians.
Alexa Travers nah they lesbians
super good discussion points here!! always excited to see these from you guys, can’t wait to see for the rest of the week!
That last part made it all worth it!
Man, July 4th 2018 at 7:30pm, back when cartoon network was good, am I right?
Oh this was a wonderful discussion. I loved the Peridot laugh comment and Bismuth finishing the job xD
I'm waiting for Steven to find out that Peridot's been building an Invader Zim-like secret lair in the bathroom.
I'd be interested in them taking down the Rose picture/giving it to Greg and having Pearl commission a smaller picture of Pink Diamond to hang in its place.
N/a nah it should stay. That's like misgendering Rose Quartz.
Plus Rose Quartz is who Pink Diamond chose to be when she gave up on being a Diamond. So it's still appropriate that they keep the picture of Rose up there.
I feel like this is another episode that shows the difference between fans who like cute stuff and slice of life vs the fans who want gut punches and action. The show tries to do both about the same so half the episodes have to be terrible to half the fans.
And there's the fans who are satisfied with either in moderation.
That too, though I haven't seen too many of those really. Or maybe they are just less vocal? That's basically me and to be honest I don't talk about stuff that much. (I don't really comment on videos that much and I don't make Steven Universe Content at all)
julie martinez the problem is that show has proven to be so much better in the past. It’s not being too critical it’s knowing it can be better. Yes not everything can be 10/10 but try to get close
Good thing I like both types of episodes in this show and don't complain that the show doesn't do enough of either or.
JEEVES I am fine with both when they are done well, this was not executed so well
The real title is Ruby Alone lol
Did anybody notice at the end the little pearlmethyst moment? Like nobody is talking about it but it was so there
I mean I had no clue of the leaks but they were always so close that I saw this coming EVENTUALLY. So it didn't hit me emotionally but I still found it pretty adorable.
The ending was cool though with the marriage I want ruby and sapphire more we had garnet for like five years and 5 or four times with ruby and sapphire we need more of them garnet is not just there Relationship
I'd be surprised if, with the long production hiatus and all, there wasn't a restructuring for the show that granted a few additional gems, especially Peridot, a more priority role. Here's to S6!
Lea's avatar is adorable rn
About the shapeshifting thing, I think it's because Amethyst shapeshifts a lot already. And trying to perfectly mimic a normal Amethyst must have been harder.
I would love to Just see her becoming a comic book fan
I never got spoiled about their wedding so it was a surprise to me when she proposed
For me Steven reaction to Garnet possibly not existing anymore was the reaction of a kid who learn that his parents are considering divorce.
Marissa Vershaw For me, it was more like a “What if the Diamonds attack us at some point? We aren’t going to have our strongest member anymore to rely on.”
"strongest member" Not that Garnet could handle the Diamonds or anything. I think the "divorce" metaphor is more apropos.
Your bismuth idea makes sense because the episode bismuth is one of the ones that appears in the DVD release of this 5 night special randomly
With the Bismuth part, it was spoiled a while ago in an interview and they showed clips that weren't aired yet (I'm guessing you know which video it is, since it was impossible to not know when it happened, just didn't watch it)
Let's just hope the bathroom gets busted in reunited
Made of Honor is about Ronaldo acting out his favorite anime: Made of Honor.
Wow! PIEGUYRULES always have high expectations! I personally loved the episode!
Out of all the Crystal Gems I think Peridot would have understood how Ruby (or even Sapphire) felt. So I think her not comforting at least one of them was definitely a missed opportunity.
I just noticed the hand ships get closer to the screen with each new episode discussion
At this point by show’s end Steven will have Rose’s dress as his permanent attire
No no, he needs PD’s tutu and puffy Tinkerbell slippers.
Diamonds invade during the wedding.
CG: Hey! We're trying to have a wedding!
D: What's a wedding?
And then Steven spends the episode trying to convince them why weddings are important.
It was a cute episode but I'll probably forget about it.
If the trailer didn’t just show the diamonds arriving and showed parts of these emotional episodes, I would be hyped about these episodes. But I’m sorry, the Sapphire episode was great but I just want them to cut to the chase and meet the diamonds already 🙄
Hear me out when I say this, but what if the party in the beginning of Friday’s episode is the wedding reception.
My Dad and I have been on a western kick lately, so Ruby following along the tropes was a treat on that end.
Yeah, this episode reminded me of Angel Face from Adventure Time. The pretend cowboy thing worked well with BMO because he's basically a child in all of his appearances, but Ruby was a foot soldier and it feels really awkward and boring to have her deal with relationship issues by playing make believe for a whole episode.
Remember what you said when some of the previous episodes of this arc or even before this arc should have been a half hour special in a previous video? I think it was Now we’re only falling apart and A Single Pale Rose. This episode and What’s your problem are where I agree with that statement. I can understand why they didn’t do that for any episode other than Reunited. But still.
Is this the first same-sex proposal in a kids TV show?

Where and when? Also, why spam the same comment four times?
Okay, I have no idea if this is the thing that was spoiled for people or even if this is right cause I haven't been paying attention to the fandom for fear of spoilers, but I feel like the title of the arc, heart of the crystal gems could relate to that weird heart thing that we saw in the temple in, like season one, it just feels like such a weird thing otherwise especially since they kind of treated it as important so it's the kind of thing to be a chekhov''s gun maybe the temple will be destroyed and the destruction of that heart will release all of the bubbled gems, (leading to Jasper getting freed like in the promos) and ultimately leading to the cure for corruption which will probably be either in reunited or maybe one or two episodes down the line.
They're getting closer...
The arms are descending. God Help Us.
I'm pretty sure Bismuth knows about the Pink Diamond stuff.
Or at least, it's implied.
*chuckles*
What I want to know is where is Peridot? As soon as Steven came back he was dealing with everybody's messes but Peridot knows nothing. Where is she and what's she's doing?
"Hey it's me, I'm a horse."
Damn, man! Why is PIEGUYRULES so analytical when it comes to the song and humor?! Sometimes, they don’t have to be sentimental. Sometimes, they can be light hearted!
Edit: So, must every episode have some sort of Climax?!
I LOVE THIS EPISODE!!! I just have one question, where's Peridot? I hope they don't exclude her, she's a crystal gem too! :o
They've completely forgotten about Peridot.
The hands...they are closer...
This is my favorite episode of the bomb so far, and among my favorites of the entire series, thanks to the ending.
they really stepped up the animation with this episode. The character art had been the only negative for me of the new episodes, but this episode was stunning start to finish, apart from Steven's ham hands
Now I want to see the dystopian future timeline of reunited because that was be fucking hilarious and the fandom would explode lmao
I wonder if Steven is gonna go onto Rose/Pink's room and confront her about everything and if he does I wonder if he will let some of his anger and disappoint on her. Also if Steven is a Diamond technally he has power over everyone and I want to see a conference meeting with Yellow, Blue, and White sitting in these huge chairs and seeing Steven sitting down on Blue's shoulder talking.
The diamond ships are getting farther accross the screen.
I wish Steven Universe rod were 22 min every time
Ruby is such a child and this episode pretty much smacks you in the face with it. I'm certain that least 80% of Garnet's maturity and leadership qualities come from Sapphire.
I liked it.
IIIIII AM MADE
OH-OH-OH-OH-OF
HO-O-O-O-NOR
Im surprised you thought this episode had a bunch of nothing and not last episode ,which i consider was completely a bunch of nothing.
If this episode was a bunch of nothing, then the last episode also was.
If you count "nothing" as character development in a character-driven story, then sure. A lot "nothing" went on indeed, lol.
Didn´t seem as character development at all to me. Amethyst didn´t develop at all, its just that Steven saw a facet from her. Amethyst didn´t grow, she just affirmed what she was. There has been plenty of cases of character development done way better in other episodes, including onion ones.
Not to mention how the message was how Steven should stop putting himself into fixing others problems and Amethyst is the most mature gem, and the next episode we have Amethyst turn into a horse to goof around and Steven WILL continue to put himself into fixing others problems.
Neither episode has "nothing" in it. Good character development for Ruby and Amethyst aren't filler.
Kinda wish Lea had done these videos on her own.
*WHY WOULD SHE BE A COWBOY*
I personally felt disappointed with this episode. It felt like more filler then anything. Ruby left, did some stuff, walked around, then ruby proposes.
Ruby just seemed boring and very emotionless. That might just be me though. But was very disappointed.
ScorpionsFatality Yeah. I get that the point of these episodes are to show how each of the characters are dealing with the news, but most of this episode could’ve happened offscreen and we wouldn’t have missed much. It bothers me because we’re only getting five episodes and since this episode was mostly a waste of time, we’re probably only going to have a single episode devoted to the part of these episodes that’s gonna be the most interesting. The Diamond attack is only gonna last like an episode and a half, at the very most.
It wasn't really filler in a way. She had character development. But I see where you're coming from. Still a fun episode for me.
Lesbian wedding for the win :)
Yeah, the Western stuff wasn't exactly doing it for me either, and it was really random and metaphorical. However, I do adore what it's done for Ruby and the ending is...sweet.
Also--*Spongebob voice* SHIPS!
Honestly the last 2 episodes felt like it could of been put into 1....
In a single pale rose, you could pearl-
Hit the diamond?
Isn't garnet like a Mom to Steven? Of course he wants garnet back.
Also, the BD and YD ships in the background are getting closer....hmmm...
If I wasn't kind of into/ familiar with the western genre I would've been bored to tears with this episode. I like the idea of Ruby finding herself and doing solo stuff.
The wedding part at the end seemed kind of forced IMHO.
Natalie Manahan whats IMHO
Apfel Lukas IMHO = In My Humble Opinion.
YAY YOU GUYS
Where's the "Made of Honor" discussion?
Low-key ship this
im a fan of you
All I have to say is it’s Steven universe their literally trying to show you what being bias does these gems maybe corny as a bar but that’s always only because most people are bias about this kind of thing
Helpful Playlists what does this comment mean
Jenifer Joseph well every episode try to teach us not to judge or assume and they did all that they can to prove them wrong by changing the story
Who is "they"?
Jenifer Joseph uh people are bias it doesn’t have to be a a specific person
BUT WHO IS THEY? I don't know if English is a second Lang for you or you're just that dumb but your comments honestly make no sense
wait, what shirt did hot topic release that spoiled the episode???
I don't agree with most of this video. I feel like there doesn't need to be drama or constant action to develop someone. Ruby had fun on her own and it wasn't about being all alone it was about her making her own decisions.
And her getting herself into trouble defeats the point. She can be on her own,be successful at it and decide she wants to be with the one she loves. Second I think Ruby would have still decided she wants to spend time on her own because even when she almost fell into the ravine she was pretty happy that she at least did it on her own.
And as someone who doesn't even like the musical episodes because of the all the cheesy emotional songs I've really been enjoying the episodes because the songs are either silly or don't happen. I find it cringy most of the time 🤷🏾♀️
Also we have dramatic, over the top, characters doing the absolute most like every episode at this point. It's nice to be able to take a break and get character development away from all the drama (some of it being unnecessary).
However I understand why Steven felt the way he did. Of course he loves Ruby and Sapphire but in a sense her just met *them*. Garnet is like a mom to him. He looks to her for advice and guidance. And the idea of that not being there is scary. It's like a parent divorcing. If you are used to both your parents being together, of course you loved them as individuals but you wish they were together. I agree that I like how Steven learns if it makes Ruby happy then by extension Garnet is happy.
I think them splitting apart was just brewing because even before Rose. Garnet felt all this pressure to be a good leader and her emotions in check. If it wasn't because of Rose it'd be something else. They just needed a break.
And they did talk about it. Ruby said "You were right. I want this to be OUR decision" she understood what made Sapphire upset since Sapphire explained it when she lashed out. Sapphire didn't need to tell Ruby the full story because Ruby didn't doubt the relationship they had just because of finding this out. She didn't doubt it until she seen Sapphire doubt it.
Someone else who isn't into westerns! Still a cute episode and loved the proposal, but i found the western part uninteresting
