  • Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko joins host Adam Bittner to react to the team's picks on Day 3 of the NFL draft. Could fourth-round pick Mason McCormick eventually start at guard if GM Omar Khan decides to move on from James Daniels and Isaac Seumalo in the next couple of years? Does sixth-rounder Logan Lee have the physical tools to become a rotation player on the defensive line alongside Cam Heyward and Keeanu Benton? And where does fellow sixth-rounder Ryan Watts fit into the secondary moving forward?
Our duo tackles those questions, and Brian adds thoughts on Day 2 picks Roman Wilson and Payton Wilson, who followed popular choices of Troy Fautanu and Zach Frazier at the top of the draft.

Peyton Wilson had almost 200 Tackles with 4 INT’s the past 2 years and all people talk about is his injury history. Glad he fell to the Steelers.

Good thing history is left in the past. All that matters is the future now!

McCormack can back up both C&G if Daniels leaves next year and Herbig takes over. Lee is a decent back up DL better than a few we have. Watts will be a safety/slot. Excellent athlete with size.

Not thrilled with the Lee pick. Thought there were better DL options available at that time. Gabe Hall, Kristian Boyd, etc.

@@mikeirwin6421 Yeah I liked both of those but Lee has awesome athletic qualities. I think he will spend this year on ST and filling out s bit. Next year will be great.

I think all these high athletic guys are geared towards the new kickoff, which I personally think we will excel at

Ugh I had completely forgotten about the new kickoff. Here I was looking forward to the season in ignorant bliss

Honestly I just hope that the added athleticism will help our horrible screen plays

I love the Mccormick pick. I think he's flexible and can play anywhere and maybe even be a starter. Our line is fixed!!!! Next year we'll get a wr and CBS and work on defense. Hopefully we sign Russ and Fields

Logan was a great leader at Iowa but I thought never reached expectations. Incredible athlete though.

I think Khan has done a great job and his drafts have been pretty damn good. But I have to say that as happy and excited as I was after the first three rounds I was equally confused and a little disappointed with the 2nd half of the draft. Although I know the second half isn’t nearly as critical as the top picks. But I just felt there were some decent players left at positions we needed later in the draft when we took some players and positions that I don’t think we needed as much. But they also have a lot more info than me and we won’t actually know until a few years down the road. I still trust in the Khan artist.

How about we give the guys a chance before relegating them to bums or special teamers? James Harrison, Willie Parker, and Jaylen Warren were undrafted. Keisel and Antonio Brown were late picks. Let's give the guys a chance. I think the team did a solid job from top to bottom with their selections.

Jesus…close to the end he tries to compare McConkey to Wilson…that’s absolutely absurd. They aren’t even remotely in the same category.

I agree...McConkey was a clear cut better prospect and more productive as well.
