I really love the combat stances you take, and how each one behaves. I was pretty miffed when I found out the following games didn't have that feature, it felt like something was missing.
Something I found funny is that with each games, Geralt's moves become more realistic, but less lore accurate, and flashy, as if he is getting less skilled
The sword combos and weight of your attacks in Witcher 2 feel so good. Witcher 3 attacks lack of combo variations and connect/continuations in animations - it just keep spinning 1-2 moves that regardless of the sword positions that it feels really janky. The whirl is pretty good tho
First game combat is about using effective stance in situation , while sometimes throw some signs, and watch the sword turns red to mash RMB. Occasionaly throw bombs and drink .It had flaws, but choreography was good and fights were enjoyable to watch and participate non the less. Also, no BS gear system, the basic sword u have given at the begining can carry you to the end even at harder difficulty. Same applyes to armour. Second game however is about not to get 2v1 situation (almost impossible), dont give enemy your back and positioning yourself to move freely and not being surrounded. And also, lots of luck with random enemy blocks and evades. While it is possible to work only on dodges, the "red engine" is rather sloppy in that regard. Unless you have dodge talent learned at least once, most of them dodges will be just showing opponent a hittable back (which they mostly hit). And dont start on random attack animation, which can ruin your positioning wery fast. For example, there is at least 4 moves that close gap between Gerald and target, sometimes he do whirlwind , which is mostly good, or he can roll in direction of target and do one poke , or he can do step ahead and do fast slash, but either way, if you fight with group of enemies (which is, again, almost always the case), and , by some unknown shinanigans the target will be in a middle of the crowd, you guessed it, Gerald will get shanked, since in this part they are no shy of attacking all at once. (sorry, i recently completend this trash of a combat game(with good storytelling tho) and had to rant about it somewhere) Third is for casuals tho.
Wild Hunt is the only one which uses the most realistic and reasonable dodge. No absurd rolling. It was partially aplied in 1, but was useless due to enemy animations. The fact that W2 had only roll dodge almost ruined combat.
Witcher 2 had the best feeling combat for me, you actually felt the impact when the sword hits. I like W3 combat more in a lot of ways but it feels like your sword just glides through the enemy with no impact

Witcher 4? I cannot wait. Love the dismemberment in 3, what a game! My current play through I’m mainly going alchemy and vitality, all the abilities are viable if paired with others correctly.

In witcher's case the combat system is genuily better with every release of the game, perfect example of learning and adapting.
@@GriffinTracker i don't know about 3 but def better than 2's generic ass. They literally created the book atmosphere faithfully and destroyed it in 2.
The sword fighting style is the best in the first part of The Witcher. Just look at these movements of Geralt, you can immediately see that this is a unique witcher fighting style that is only subject to witcher reflexes and an ordinary person simply cannot perform all these movements. It's a shame that in the next games he already fights just like human.
First 10 hours of W1 was torture but after that it was a 25 hours of dream of witcher fan. Unfortunately after finishing game i couldn't play anything else two weeks
The reason Witchers do not fight like ordinary swordmen is because their reflexes and speed gives them the ability to use techniques normal humans cant do. This gives them the possibility to fight multiple people at once and do stuff that makes normal humans confused and bewildered. Witcher 1 does it right.
Witcher 3 would’ve been a lot better if you had more combat upgrades. When it comes to large crowds like that, I usually use whirl and if I have someone low on health at a distance, I use rend to split them in half.
The combat in Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 is more responsive and interactive. In The Witcher 1, it looks like you're just attacking as much as possible with little regard for the enemy attacks. In fact, those clips of The Witcher 1 remind me of Fallout 3 where two guys are standing out in the open and shooting each other until one of them dies.
Is it okay to use a dismemberment mod in witcher 3? :P Just asking cuz i am using one and I hope it does not interfere with some upcomings which I am not sure of yet?
Witcher 1 has the most spectacular combo styles. choosing the style for combos is promising. Witcher 2 has a better storyline, character abilities, potion making etc.

Witcher's 1 combat isn't bad in my opinion, it's just very interesting, i don't think any game before had an idea like this.
Also, applaus to CDproject, usually as time flies and game get more releases something always get worse even if the whole is better. In witcher's case the combat system is genuily better with every release of the game, perfect example of learning and adapting.
In my opinion w1 is the best 'witcher' game
Guess you never played the other 2
@@GriffinTracker i don't know about 3 but def better than 2's generic ass. They literally created the book atmosphere faithfully and destroyed it in 2. Combat is a roll+click spam made obviously for console gamers, and hitboxes are broken. Alchemy sucks. Preparation is awful. Only good thing is story.
@@GriffinTracker 300 hrs in W2 and 700 hrs in w3
Naaa 3 is good. 1 was good for its time. Never liked 2.
@@alexgalays910 okay. As I said earlier 'in my opinion '
I can't effin wait till they re make Witcher 1.
Me too !
The sword fighting style is the best in the first part of The Witcher. Just look at these movements of Geralt, you can immediately see that this is a unique witcher fighting style that is only subject to witcher reflexes and an ordinary person simply cannot perform all these movements. It's a shame that in the next games he already fights just like human.
played W3 for around 70h now, not even 40% finished but i now want to play W1 and im looking to save some money for W2!
First 10 hours of W1 was torture but after that it was a 25 hours of dream of witcher fan. Unfortunately after finishing game i couldn't play anything else two weeks
Lmao
The reason Witchers do not fight like ordinary swordmen is because their reflexes and speed gives them the ability to use techniques normal humans cant do. This gives them the possibility to fight multiple people at once and do stuff that makes normal humans confused and bewildered. Witcher 1 does it right.
weird how shaky camera witcher 2 has compared to first one, is the combat better in witcher1?
I guess it's because this specific gameplay was recorded on PC using mouse instead of a controller
Witcher 3 would’ve been a lot better if you had more combat upgrades. When it comes to large crowds like that, I usually use whirl and if I have someone low on health at a distance, I use rend to split them in half.
witcher 3 decapitation execution just...perfection!
Yess !
Aard Sweep with all the sign intensity and piercing cold is basically unstoppable
Yeah !
I didnt know there was a witcher 1 and 2.
w1 the best animation in his premier times
generally each witcher has very good fight's animation
Yess !!
for me the atmposphere of witcher 2 is the best, flotsam forest is sick
all i can tell is you shake your mouse too much it gives me motion sickness
Ведьмак 3 это реально танец с мечом. Лучшая боевка по сей день для меня.
The combat in Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 is more responsive and interactive. In The Witcher 1, it looks like you're just attacking as much as possible with little regard for the enemy attacks.
In fact, those clips of The Witcher 1 remind me of Fallout 3 where two guys are standing out in the open and shooting each other until one of them dies.
не знал что Гервант в первой части знает приёмы из ушу
Hey man, what PC specs do you have?
Cpu - amd 2600
Gpu - Rtx 2060
No parry, no whirlwind?
Witcher 1 combat is pretty fun and addictive, easily the best combat system in the whole franchise.
Is it okay to use a dismemberment mod in witcher 3? :P Just asking cuz i am using one and I hope it does not interfere with some upcomings which I am not sure of yet?
do W3 even need a dismemberment mod?
The witcher 2 actually looks pretty fire
Now we wait for witcher 4
the dancing 1,2 and 3
Against the mutants you must use STEEL!
The combat is the only thing that has always put me off from finally trying witcher 3.
There were finishers in witcher 1??????
Early witcher 2 combat Act 1 and hirst half of act 2 is the best in the franchise as it is the hardest.
Witcher 1 has the most spectacular combo styles. choosing the style for combos is promising.
Witcher 2 has a better storyline, character abilities, potion making etc.
I really wanna play Witcher 1 if I ever get a pc
