Just love the fact that you know you're gonna use it and therefore you make immediately your accessories and gizmos. I just think watching clever dudes sort things out is a great use of my RUclips time. Really pleased you got a "no strings attached " gift. Great video, as always, Marius. Thanks.
I like many others found your channel after being a patron of Mathias for a very long time but would like to say that after seeing your videos have still not gone back to his videos, you create awesome videos, thanks for keeping me interested in woodworking videos Marius
Thank you for your initial impression video! We are the distributor for North and South America for the PantoRouter and have a slightly different configuration for our packages. We no longer ship the acrylic template holder and the older style red plastic templates with our PantoRouters and therefore no longer the 21mm guide bearing. All of our new templates work with the 22mm, 15mm, 10mm, tapered 10mm and 6mm bearings provided in our packages. Our router mounts here have a slot for the router pins to slip through, and those sent for the AEG routers will have the same slot very soon. We supply router mounts for the Porter Cable 890 series routers, but they're not available in 220V so the AEG mounts are required outside the US, Canada and Mexico. By the way, the same AEG routers are sold in North America at Home Depot under the Ridgid brand but only in 110V. If we can assist or answer any questions for anyone in North or South America, please visit our website at www.hybridpantorouter.com or send us an email info@hybridpantorouter.com. We also have a RUclips channel with numerous guidance videos and we're adding more every month. Thanks again, and Happy PantoRouting! Mac
Marius, best pantorouter demo i've seen yet! Also, your mods to the sliding frames and outfitting most all sizes in advance just to be prepared for possibilities is brilliantly! Thanks for doing the video.
you have an amazing mind to problem solve and come up with the solutions that you do. I think my favorite part of your videos is watching you come up with something unique that is often times better than the manufactures. I enjoy your videos and look forward to the next ones.
I saw that Steve Ramsay uses a teleprompter... Pls, Marius, dont even consider buying that thing because your "Outtakes" are great. :D It gives your videos a unique thing! :D
Other woodworkers have got this Christmas some black and yellow tools from Santa. It looks like You have been even better child this Year, because You have got super-duper pantorouter :)
I must admit this pantorouter is a very nice bit of kit l have been watching your latest videos and how you doing anything in your small workshop well sir l take my hat off to you nice videos
Congratulations Marius! Friend You joined the band of an innovative and endless practical machine that I have come across and pride to own a pair. I say every penny is worth for its performance that you'll never regret. Happy innovating I will be waiting for your future videos as now you cannot resist. All the best.
Marius nice video, they picked well in choosing you to demonstrate the Pantorouter. Very nice machine Matthias came up with. Look forward to many projects that will be made.
I like the idea of the follower set. I think that the manufacturer should offer something like that as a kit. I would also think that making templates with a steeper taper would be helpful. Really nice work Marius!
A non review that turned out to be a most excellent "non"review Marius. A good job done well : ) You do know that your viewers won't mind if the video's are not absolutely perfect, don't you. By the way, your English is fantastic !
how you learn English so well? You actually explain yourself pretty well. I'm from Argentina (You know, The Pope and Lionel Messi are from here) and with my poor English I'm enable to fully understand you. so you may be proud of yourself xD
I learned the basics in school and got the practice from making my videos and watching a lot of English content. If you watch my older videos you can see how much I improved by practice.
Marius Hornberger My hat is off to you. Though I'm German descent, English is my first language and Spanish is my second language. You speak very well with a very good accent. I saw a comment in an earlier video from a Spanish speaking person about not understanding you. I was surprised at that comment because you speak so well. Thanks for your vids. They have been inspiring and provoke ideas. I look forward to seeing more. Hiepiefusaro: Es igual in cualquier según idioma. La clave es para practicar. Hi Marius. With the heat problem, why dont you perferate the rim of the dust collector to allow the router to get more air? Great video. I have to get one. Thanks
We have exactly that router kit, but Ridgid branded for the North American market. It's awesome, the motor is whisper-quiet, which is unique in my experience.
Probably already been said but you can adjust the size of the tenon by moving the bearing forward on the template. That's why they are tapered. Nice video!
hey I feel like this router is the same as the ridgid. I have one of those and we'll since the plunge base will probably start to get hard to use, a must fix you need for the router is to replace the bearing. the reason it gets too hot or fairly warm is friction. I replaced the bearing with a high speed and problem solved. hopefully gets you places.
Very entertaining Marius, and adds to my understanding of how it works. I've seen quite a few videos of the original wooden version, and the prototype aluminium one, but never really understood the sizing system of the followers.
Hi mate. That is a very nice chrissy "present". I think you have earned it. You have a good style of presentation and are clear on what you want to achieve. Well done. You are doing better than a lot of established English channels. Ie. no waffling on. I think that it's time to bother Papa for some more space and get a little tool room lathe. You would do well on it, I'm sure. You most likely won't need a big machine, although the bigger the better, just one that serves your needs. You just have a look at what your countryman Stefan Gotteswinter (youtube) is able to do on his modest machines. Well done mate.
Are the holes in the front of the router for airflow? Maybe the motor runs too hot now because the dust shroud blocks the airflow and the heat of the overheating motor then transfers to the router bit.
Is the bit not heating up because the router is heating up as you have blocked the air vents with the dust shroud? It looks like the dust shroud covers the vents completely which can't be good for the router... Could you not out a couple of holes on the backside of the dust shroud to allow the dust collector to suck some cooling air through the router?
$1800+ US. Router package with enough accessories to get started. If I was doing much of this kind of joinery (especially for profit) it looks like a very handy tool.
It looks like the dust extractor attachment is obstructing the air intakes that cool the motor of the router? If this is causing the motor to overheat, that heat could be travelling down the shaft and heating up the cutter?
I mean I guess a lot of viewers find you through Matthias Wandel or know his channel as well, but maybe not all, so it would have been nice to mention him as the inventor of the pantorouter.... but a nice video as allways, nice butterfly mortisentenon
Is AEG the German equivalent of ridged which is sold in the United States? That router looks similar to ones sold in Home Depot. Matthias wandel also did a review on the ridged router and found that is was a little bigger in diameter than other routers and that would explain the tight fit in the clamps of the pantorouter
The end of the follower should be straight. The template is tapered so you can adjust the thickness of mortises and tenons by following slightly further in or out.
Marius. I think you missed the point of the slope on the templates. They are sloped so you can finely adjust the size of the tenon by moving the follower in and out. (I know it's sloped from injection moulding draft angle also)
Yeah, I could have included that. I was more focused on including that slope to my own followers, so I'd have the fine tune feature for every possible template.
If your tenon fits too snug, the adhesive will keep the pieces from fully seating unless you cut a relief grove in the tenon. My sloppy fitting mortise and tendons never fail, thanks to modern adhesives!
Keep an eye on the router too, you know what carpenters say about AEG: A-uspacken_E-inschalten_G-arantiefall ;-) (Unpacking- Switch on- Warranty case) Of course it has some nice features- no offense.
Hallo Marius, Ich wünsche dir ein gutes Neues, du hast 3 Spiralnutfräser (Schaft 12) im Video, wo hast du die gekauft? Wie bist du mit der Oberfräse zufrieden? Grüße Franz
one point about the dust collector shield over the router motor vents, you need to cut out holes because the router has to breath if it can't your going to shorten the berings life by overheating as well as the windings on the motor . you can not block off air flow, it would be like driving a car without coolant in it. its going to overheat and seize up. on the motor the windings will swell up and or the insulation will burn off causing a short. the motor has to breath. do what you can to fix it so it can get fresh air.
Its the same router, just ridgid is the 120v version, while the AEG is a 220/240v version. I've got both, but the AEG works better for me. The electronics inside uses mains AC frequency for timing, so although I can run a voltage dropper for the ridgid, I can't change the frequency, and the motor is never running at full efficiency thanks to it, and overheats after serious use
LetsBuildIt i have one of those routers, i have never found it to be undepowered. also it stays powerfull at low rpm settings. i never use any other routers anymore
staalmaffia Found the Makita RT0700CX2. I believe it is a very great router and I'm looking forward to the day when I'm able to buy it along with some other nice power tools. Figure I'd save some money on shipping by ordering them all att the same time.
LetsBuildIt, i have one with the 4 removable routerbases. I do use it in a routertable for light duty work, and it is just fine. I do use it mostly for small dato's and trim routing. I have a big 1400w router, and I never use that anymore. Great piece of kit.
Marius Hornberger That dust shoe is molded to accommodate a vacuum hose. Besides keeping your work area cleaner, of course the air flow around the bits will keep them cooler. modify the the router side of the shoe as well to allow air flow out of the base of the router. I've never smoked the windings in a router, but have in a lesser tool of dubious quality. Every little opportunity to keep things cool helps!
That router looks identical to the Ridgid that they sell in the US. I think they beefed up the collet nut because they would tend to break. I broke the nut on mine and it was tough getting a replacement. Home Depot customer service isn't great.
Does having a CNC machine kind of cover the need of buying a pantarouter? I know they are different, and they are both amazing machines, but how much does the pantarouter do that you can't do on the CNC? I can see a use for an edge cutting set up for your CNC like what Frank H has.
Cutting a tenon on the end of a 2m long piece of wood would be practically impossible with a CNC as you'd have to mount it upright. On the pantorouter, you can mount it flat on the table.
Is the bit getting hot because the airflow for the router motor is blocked by the plastic dust collection shroud causing the motor to overheat and conduct heat down the bit?
Marius Hornberger cutting some holes will make your router motor and bearings last much longer. Looking forward to see what else you do to the pantarouter. I like seeing your mods even more than the woodworking projects ;-)
We did exhaustive (sorry for the pun) testing as we developed the redirected cooling path for the router motor cooling airflow and found no discernible difference with or without the dust collection hood. The problem is most likely the front bearing and as one of your followers noted above, changing that bearing is not a big job and will probably help. The Porter Cable routers used in North America don't have the same issue and so far we haven't heard of heat concerns on Ridgid machines sold here either, but we will keep an eye out. Have fun with your PantoRouter!
I would like to hear your opinion whether the pantorouter is worth the money and if you would buy if it wasn´t for free and if you would recommend either buying one or better try to build one based on Matthias plans. Thanks!
If you do lots of professional work that will pay for it, especially repetitive stuff that needs to stay accurate, then it surely is worth the investment. I doubt a mere hobby user will ever find much to do with one, sure it would be exciting for a week but then you would put it in a corner somewhere and forget you even had it.
absolutely love it... but it is expensive!!! if you weren't given one to "not review" would you still fork out the money for one, or are the $$ better spent on other tools?
I see this is video is kinda old but just in case you still check for responses, I'm wondering if you still like having the followers beveled? I just built a pantarouter and I think you were on to something really useful. It's odd so many posters seem to be constrained by the idea of only beveling the templates, as if it's somehow improper to be creative. It certainly seems easier to bevel a set of followers instead of beveling every shop made template.
Hey Marius i plan on using the same router, can i ask where you got the collets? BTW the shaft of the AEG is 92mm - not 89mm 3.5in which might be why it was such a tough fit
8mm and 12mm collet were included, 1/2" collet I ordered together with the machine at my local store that sells AEG. My pantorouter is made for 92mm. If it was for 89mm routers, then it would have been impossible to get it mounted.
What I want to know is where are you going to put the Pantorouter? Is there a build video in the pipeline for a stand or something for the newest addition to your shop? Thanks for producing such quality videos, your channel is at the top of my favorites list.
I believe that the metal panto-router came about; after Mathias Wandel (A popular RUclips DIY'r); designed and built his own out of wood. It was VERY well done; as is everything he does. So it is my understanding that a person well into machining metals saw it; and took the idea and made one out of metal. I seem to recall he sent one to Mathias and he did a side by side comparison. Or that is what I recall and it was years ago. If I made any mistakes I am sure Mathias will correct me. The panto-router blossomed and now it is becoming popular in different places. I would buy one in a heartbeat, but I already have the Leigh Mortise and Tenon maker. And it will do everything the panto-router will. When I bought it, it only cost $600.00. Today it is more than double that; but the panto-router is even more than that. But the panto-router is one fine piece of machinery. Believe you me. Plus being very well thought out and built. I would highly recommend it.
Marius, I know its been over a year since your Pantorouter review. I am considering the purchase of one...Any thoughts suggestions you have, Thanks Raja
Another great video, Marius. I wish more RUclipsrs took the care you take with what they publish - you're spoiling us with this production quality.
Thanks, I appreciate that!

Sounds like Kuldeep is very confident about his product, and he knew you'd be all over it as soon as you got it. ;-)
Matthias Wandel did a great job in designing the original. You were given a $2,000 machine...what a great gift!
Thank you for your initial impression video!

Ich mag die bloopers. Sie zeigen manchmal wie viel Aufwand man in ein Video stecken kann.
Stimmt und Marius aber auch über sich selbst schmunzeln kann.
Best moment .... HEEE, A MANUAL! Super!
Manuals are for people who cycle with helmets on.
Very cool that you have your own pantorouter! Can't wait for you to explore it's capabilities. Looking forward to it!

Smart move on Kuldeep's part. You will take the pantorouter to the next generation and I mean that in two ways.
Probably already been said but you can adjust the size of the tenon by moving the bearing forward on the template. That's why they are tapered. Nice video!
hey I feel like this router is the same as the ridgid. Another great video and product demonstration. I will have to put this one on my list! Thanks for the video
Thanks! Yeah, the lathe is probably the next tool to come. Fortunately my dad wants one too :)
Love your style of videos, hope you keep making them based on that alone - plus the projects are always cool too!
I love your videos! I wonder how many hours of raw footage you make to make a final 15 minute video like this one?
A lot. I can only tell you in file size, though. 21 GB for this one.
Are the holes in the front of the router for airflow? Maybe the motor runs too hot now because the dust shroud blocks the airflow and the heat of the overheating motor then transfers to the router bit.
Your work and videos are Inspiring and thank you for the inspiration, good luck .
1:49 "aha :D a manual!" Ones like this are ones of the reasons why I keep watching his videos lol

It looks like the dust extractor attachment is obstructing the air intakes that cool the motor of the router? If this is causing the motor to overheat, that heat could be travelling down the shaft and heating up the cutter?
Yes, that's it. If it's a problem I'll cut some holes in the dust shroud to allow for more air flow.
I mean I guess a lot of viewers find you through Matthias Wandel or know his channel as well, but maybe not all, so it would have been nice to mention him as the inventor of the pantorouter....
but a nice video as allways, nice butterfly mortisentenon
"What a coincidence?" *Tries to hide a huge smile*
:) I know. I'll get better at this
That was hilarious. Love your humor!
out takes right ?
Is perhaps the router is heating up as the dust collector is blocking the bottom venting, or am I not seeing an air-path out the bottom?
Very nice, I'm looking forward for your futur penta projects!
Excellent purchase! Congratulations!
Is AEG the German equivalent of ridged which is sold in the United States? That router looks similar to ones sold in Home Depot. Matthias wandel also did a review on the ridged router and found that is was a little bigger in diameter than other routers and that would explain the tight fit in the clamps of the pantorouter
Yes, it is the same. But the mounts are made for that size, though still very tight.
The end of the follower should be straight. The template is tapered so you can adjust the thickness of mortises and tenons by following slightly further in or out.
What was the cnc spinal motor thing doing on the table in the corner of the video
I do like the butterfly join!
Is the front vent for the router blocked by the dust collector?
Marius. I think you missed the point of the slope on the templates. They are sloped so you can finely adjust the size of the tenon by moving the follower in and out. (I know it's sloped from injection moulding draft angle also)

Hallo Marius,
Ich wünsche dir ein gutes Neues,
du hast 3 Spiralnutfräser (Schaft 12) im Video, wo hast du die gekauft?
Wie bist du mit der Oberfräse zufrieden?
Grüße
Franz
Wow really nice they sponsored you!
Great video!
just bought one but I love the light on your router. tell me about the router you used!
Nice fit, not too tight, not too loose, it is just right
one point about the dust collector shield over the router motor vents, you need to cut out holes because the router has to breath if it can't your going to shorten the berings life by overheating as well as the windings on the motor .
you can not block off air flow, it would be like driving a car without coolant in it. its going to overheat and seize up.
on the motor the windings will swell up and or the insulation will burn off causing a short.
the motor has to breath. do what you can to fix it so it can get fresh air.
Could you have taken.the tightening hardware off the two brackets to allow the router to go in with pins?
no, the router clamps stay closed as you saw, even with the screws removed.
Geat video! I do love me some out takes!
That is the same router as the ridgid. They must make it for a few different brands.
Shop built aeg seems to be the name for their 220/240V range. It's the same here in Australia
Both are TTI companies, who also own Milwaukee, Ryobi, and a few others.
According to Wikipedia TTI produces power tools for Ridgid but doesn't own it.
That's one nice router! Personally I am looking at a Makita trim router (700W). Will a trim router suffice for a light duty router table?
sure why not
LetsBuildIt i have one of those routers, i have never found it to be undepowered. also it stays powerfull at low rpm settings. i never use any other routers anymore
staalmaffia Found the Makita RT0700CX2. I believe it is a very great router and I'm looking forward to the day when I'm able to buy it along with some other nice power tools. Figure I'd save some money on shipping by ordering them all att the same time.

Daniel Schoeren That's what I was thinking. Trim routers seems like the most handy of the two.
Neat tool. NOt sure if I would have a use for one with the projects I do, but, thanks for sharing this device!
Hallo Marius, ich habe den Pantorouter von Matthias Wandel nachgebaut, kannst du mir sagen, wo ich diesen Absaugungs Adapter kaufen kann?
Viele Grüße
Great vedio. Enjoyed all so far, keep up the good work.
Is the dust shoe inhibiting air flow into the router at all? Could that be part of the hot bit issue?
yes, that's the main issue. If it'll be a problem, I'll cut slots for air flow into the dust shoe
Air flow direction is not into the router, but out of the router at the bit end.
Actually the see through one supplied now has about 1/4" relief so the cool air can get into the router!
Hammer Gerät, einfach nur geil
is the blue light part of the router your using?
That router looks identical to the Ridgid that they sell in the US. I think they beefed up the collet nut because they would tend to break. I broke the nut on mine and it was tough getting a replacement. Home Depot customer service isn't great.
Peter Collin AEG and Rigid are the same tools but AEG are sold internationally. Rigid is only north America
Would you recommend the panta router for repeatability. Meaning i make 100 mortises and then make 100 tenons. Then i can mix and match the pair.

Cutting a tenon on the end of a 2m long piece of wood would be practically impossible with a CNC as you'd have to mount it upright. On the pantorouter, you can mount it flat on the table.
Hallo, gibt es eine XL version? Wo kann man den in Europa kaufen? Wegen zoll und garantie.
You do realize that the slope on the template is so that you can adjust for fit by moving the follower in and out right?
yes, that works if the fit is close. with the wrong follower size to begin with it won't help.
Pop. Very good.
you are as good as Matthias Wandel...:D Joking, You are very professional
What kind of end mill did you use, 2 flute or 4 flute and what is the lenght?
2 flute spiral up cut, 2"length, solid carbide
Is the bit getting hot because the airflow for the router motor is blocked by the plastic dust collection shroud causing the motor to overheat and conduct heat down the bit?
Yes, that's it. If it's a problem I'll cut some holes in the dust shroud to allow for more air flow.
Mac Sheldon Thanks for the respond Mac. I'll see how hot it'll get after cutting more than a single joint and replace the bearing, if needed.
@11:12.... second try. :-) I've been meaning to build one of these for two years now.
Aren't the tenon templates tapered for micro adjusting? Swear Mathias showed this
I see this is video is kinda old but just in case you still check for responses, I'm wondering if you still like having the followers beveled? I just built a pantarouter and I think you were on to something really useful. It's odd so many posters seem to be constrained by the idea of only beveling the templates, as if it's somehow improper to be creative. It certainly seems easier to bevel a set of followers instead of beveling every shop made template.
i love your shop it looks great nice video..
A PantoRouter stand is pretty much what I'm working on right now.
YaY!
For your stops, you might want to make a hind get type stop that swings out of the way to access the next stop. Nice review though as always.
What diameter are the glide shafts?
Hallo Marius, wo hast Du denn Deinen Pantorouter gekauft ???
Garnicht, der wurde mir gesponsort. Aber schau mal in die Videobeschreibung.
You could sell template kits besides fine furniture. Dennis fro Minnesota
Seems like the links are broken. Where can I buy one, best would be somewhere in Germany :)
Have a look at dictum.de
in the states mm rod is hard to find so where do you get it from?
I don't live in the states. And there's no blue light, but it's white and built into the router.
Grainger sells it, as surely does McMaster Carr.
Mal ne Frage nicht zu dem Video:
Wie groß sind diese Türstopper bei deinen "Remounting Jaws"?
+RitterRost2002 20mm Durchmesser
Where did the pentarouter come from? I have only seen them in US. would be great to get one for UK if possible :)
Read the video description
Pentarouter is a very nice tool!
The Hexarouter is even better! ;)
that is Matthias Wandel design. nice!
Como hago para comprar un ejemplar con plantilla para puertas de perciana mi correo es jorgeramirezmoreno6 @ gemail .com Saludos del Perú.
Marius, I know its been over a year since your Pantorouter review. I am considering the purchase of one...Any thoughts suggestions you have, Thanks Raja
Only that I highly recommend building the stuff and accessories that I built for it. (followers, mobile cart, automatic dust extraction)
Thanks Marius
what a nice vid man😀👌👌👏👏
