I love this series so much the early ones I could see a lot of what I do in the old sketchbooks and it makes me feel good that I’m not the only one that did/ does that stuff. thank you so much for letting us get a look inside of your sketchbooks
Dan, whenever you share like this my imagination starts to cook thinking about seeing your take on all these different properties, I know I'm not alone
Hey! New to your channel...happy to hear that you don't hate every page of your sketch book! Your style is great, Thanks for the inspiration to keep the pencils out!
thank you for sharing and exposing yourself in such a way, believe me its encouraging to see a professional such as yourself also have difficulties at times
Do you have any Tips on drawing athmospheric scenes with ink like you mentioned at 21:00? That's kind of what I'm struggeling with right now. Thank's for the great insights!!
Thanks for uploading these Dan! I know how difficult but assuring it is to see old drawings of ours, I kinda cringe with mines, but I also feel proud of how far I’ve come. It will be great if you could remake one of you old drawings and tell us all of the things you learned this years from then up to now, the Jet pilot with the sharks is a good candidate in my opinion.
Thanks for having the courage (and/or laziness) to not edit the cringe away - It's cool to see someone just owning their shit for the world to see. I too struggled (and still do) with skin problems on my head so I know the pain man, but it's all there to help us grow I believe, so it's whatever.. haha.. Loving this series! Any tips on learning perspective?? (or should I just suck it up and read some books? lol)
Fascinating to see the evolution of your fight with ink considering how much your work today is defined by it.

Obviously also really appreciate your reflection on process and your life at the time of these sketchbooks

Love that you show all these warts and all
And there are many, haha! Thanks!
@@DanielWarrenJohnson1 but it's always good to see someone do one of these where it isnt some masterpiece ever page. It's reassuring
YEAAH!!!!! The best series, very excited by this return. Awesome
I know it must be hard to put this stuff out there but thank you for sharing. It's encouraging to see that people you admire have bad days too.
Also... there was some awesome shit in there too, man. Some pretty sick character designs and compositions.

That re-make idea is great! I second that. I look at your old stuff Dan and am boggled how it went from that to your current stuff..

Perspective for the Comic Book artist is a good book to start, eventually I'll have a perspective masterclass up!
Nicee!
Who’s doing your music and editing? It looks like a Kubrick intro to me? I like it. You sound good too.
Just me!
