- The General Atomics Mojave drone will change everything. With the ability to reach out and touch the enemy from half a world away, the Mojave is the perfect weapon for conducting recon missions or armed assassinations. This video will analyze the drone's capabilities and limitations, along with some advantages it has over the Reaper drone and how it works in the field. It will also discuss the recent upgrade that allows the drone to carry two Mini-gun pods under each wing using two of its seven hard points.

In the future the Navy will have a carrier for drones, with the carrier itself operated as a drone and nuclear powered. Just a handful of sailors for ship monitoring and robot maintenance ready to leave the ship in escape pods anytime it is hit by enemy fire.

The Reapers were starting to be tested with AIM9 Sidewinder missiles for air-to-air self defense. It should be tested with AIM120, AGM88 HARM, AIM260 missiles as well as all the SEAD and DEAD pods that the latest F-16s carry so that it can function fully in a contested air space. There's no reason it can't function like a top of the line manned ground attack fighter like the F-16.
One thing that is missing is for the operator be capable to destroy the drone if needed

Sounds promising for quick close-air support. Put a platoon in the field and send this up from Battalion. Need to keep watch on a town, river or shore area, use this till the air units show up.

What is its stealth capability? Seems like it might be easy to blast out of the sky with manpads or other SAM systems. Do you have information on its visibility to hostile radar or other detection systems?
It clearly isn't stealthy, particularly given its external ordnance. Drones likes this aren't particularly helpful in contested airspace, but this would have been perfect for lots of CAS in Afghanistan with a long loiter time and an effective weapons mix for "low risk" (to aircraft) targets - all without the cost (and risk) of a operating a more expensive, capable, manned aircraft.
This known drone is cover for the more covert/stealthy versions that will never be seen or heard.
They are not easy to shoot down. They have evasion systems installed that can help them avoid or mitigate the effects of air defenses. Those drones are very useful by the way.

You see the unsophisticated drones operated by Russia and Ukraine in a dense anti air domain?! The Mohave and other US drones are much more sophisticated with various means to defend against threats like anti air, hence they can absolutely play a role in any conflict. Besides there is a need for diverse systems, you cannot only employ the most sophisticated systems for every mission, that just doesn't make any economical nor tactical/strategical sense!

Too expensive and too vulnerable to be cost-effective in peer-to-peer warfare. Against modern SAMs or even fighter jets these are just too costly of an asset to lose on the battlefield. For the $32 million cost of a single Mojave you can equip a swarm of relatively cheap single-purpose drones that together not only have a better chance to succeed in their mission but can survive it as well. Probably useful in asymmetric and air dominance scenario's only.

The number one problem with these crafts are the cost. Most countries can't afford these things. Defense contractor love to show these things off at prices that will place most counties in bankrupt. So again what this these thing good for!! You can get these little drones from China at less than $500.00 and do the same.
