Not a bad theme per say, better than I remember it even. But I can see why it was replaced by the more up tempo “sequel” theme that would be used for the remainder of the series. The original theme only really worked for a few years to introduce people to Nell and her situation. But after that it no longer really fit as people had become accustomed to Nell and her situation. I’ve known people who despised this theme in comparison to its replacement and vise versa.
I grew up with this show and loved it. I didn't care for Joey Lawrence and his mugging for the camera. This theme was the best one and should have kept it.
hoagie1978 I ALWAYS felt the SAME way about Joey Lawrence. As a kid his age he got on my nerves, too! Glad me and my brother weren't the only ones. Love and miss this show though. Wish someone would pick it up again.
@J.R. White Joey Lawrence was introduced in season 3 and Carl the chief was still alive. The actor passed away after season 4 production was already completed. When season 5 first episode aired they deal with the Chiefs death that happened over the summer.

Some people are asking why the theme changed in season 3. New producers and writers came in the third season because Nell Carter was having issues with the old ones, so when the new people came in, they decided to revamp the theme because the show was a little different than what was before. That was also why some characters were dropped, like Carl's brother Eddie.
Season two has a different intro as well. The whole reason I posted this is my brother was having trouble finding the intro that had Nell Carter shimmying on RUclips

Alexander Gonzalez Yeah, Lara has gone on to a lot of voice over acting. Not just Digimon, but Henry Hucklemonster, Clifford, Curious George, and many more.
