A builder I know said to me a few years ago it’s fairly quick to learn how to lay a block and brick but knowing exactly where to lay them takes real skill and a long time! I think you proved that point in this video Stu! Top class work mate and what a fantastic team you have with you👍👍👍
That cement mixer sounds like my washing machine on a good day. Nice to see a workman take pride in their job, it's not ALWAYS about the 💷. Like most things in life, lay the foundations correctly and the rest is a pleasure. 👍
Nice to see Dads and Lads at work. I like the way you use mortar like you paid for it yourself. Some on RUclips leave more on the floor than in the wall.
Good lads! Use a short length of battern to brace your level when you plumb down. And don't be afraid to lay against a length of 4x2 on your bottom course bed joint,it keeps the pug underneath when the concrete's wet. Keep up the good work.( And don't answer back)
Ah.. good to see 'Dad' back in charge.............. my preference has always been 'trench fill ' founds saves you guys stumbling around in the trenched.
In Ireland we do 13inch work, especially like a extension like that, is 4inch block secure enough to carry a bungalow?we do 13inch on extension or small house, and most of time 18,depends on the depth
Loving the videos mate been binging them lol. I started my bricklaying apprenticeship last week and am looking to soak as much information up as possible! I have a recommendation for a video also - how to read bricklaying plans !
Stu, I’ve just had an extension finished off, 2 stories with a balcony. The mortar on the ground floor is so weak it can be scraped out by dragging a screwdriver across. The mortar on the 1st floor is a bit better but will be rendered so not as worried. Would you recommend grinding out and repointing?
how do you like those line clamps, ive had some a while now, if i over tighten they lift sometimes so sit a brick on top, handy for running a line round a corner too
Only the bed joints are 10mm, purrs you try to keep as close to 10mm as possible to make it work full brick no cuts etc. Also not always possible when sizes vary
Mmm saludos disculpa mi terquedad te pregunte por el tipo de la mezcla para pagar el bloque se ve muy suave pelame no me ignores yo también tengo derecho de saber 😉
Stu, my Marra, use your trowel or hamme, to level with, not your hands, or you will end up like me, painful hand. after years of bricklaying. stay safe.
Good job mate been laying them nasty blocks for 2 days now,God does my ass and elbows hurt you really make it look it easy, that was some lovely muck you had there well done Jank One more day to go my brickie let me down so I'm on trowel not layed any blocks for about 2 years, Roll on the chippie work it will feel like a weekend away compared to those blocks

Nice guys, good team work and one young man learning from a great apprentice master 👍🇬🇧
Can tell there's a great relationship between you all, top jobs lads.
Love it when Jang says belting
Me too. Cracks me up
I’m Not a bricky but love watching the videos. Very therapeutic lol.
Them line clips look spot on! I would however get yourself a laser level. Saves so much pissing about transferring levels around a footing.
Bro the way you are with your worker hes lucky to be work and learning from you wish you all the best

little tip when holding level to plumb down your line hold short length baton on level resting other end on floor to keep steady malcs Perth WA
In year 10 and you inspire me to become a brick layer
Keep the videos coming mate enjoy watching bricklaying it’s quite soothing the sound lol

Kc looking as dapper as ever. I like those line clamps, look handy for little runs.
Cracking video Stu ⚒🧱

@@Stucrompton1 got a few extensions lined up, I’ll have to pick up a set of those.
Great to see Jung coming along well, he doesn’t half crack me up 😂
The ones Charlie has are a better set stu 35 quid a pair, love the vids mate.
Fitzbrick clamps ❤
I’ve jumped in footings we’re there was a 3ft difference one end to the other show how you sort that out Anthony. 50 years has a brickie
For Track leave, give a great man👍😎
when plumbing up to you line surely you should go to inside of line as thats where you lay them to i no its only a couple of mill stu
Man. Hogging that one is tough. Not easy getting this one level. But as usual you will. Hope you show some more of this one
Always keep a Spair pair of boots 🥾 if get soaking least have a dry pair on the next day. 1 in the cabin. 1 in the motor stu 😜
Gone to the London pattern trowel now stu I went to one this year and love it best one I have had
Not too keen mate just trying a few. Got some more deliveries tomorrow 🙃
Shame Is that mate love my London pattern when I first tried it I wasn't keen but then got used to it and now I will stick to that one
Yep, the line holders from China! Only thanks to those, I’ve learned a real use of line
Enjoyed that, thanks lads.
Another great video stu keep em coming!
Best of the best a like your videos Good luck sir your brother from Algeria ☺️
Nice work enjoy the video thanks for that 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
I saw your new line runer i like that ad well they only available on line take long time for home delivery
Try the fitzbrick clamp line runner. Better quality and stainless steel. although its 3x the price.
Great video.
Stu, why is there no waterproofing under the first layer of stones?
السلام عليكم
اخي كم رمل والسمنت الخبطه
مع الشكر والتقدير من العراق
Don't see any reinforcement? Not needed where you are?, what ties the wall to the footing besides mortar?
Good work!
Stu CAN I please ask how is that electric consaw, does it cut as well as a petrol?
You guys are good.. top man. Trying to do my own extension.. gas man going builder lol
Vocês não usa o prumo não?? Aqui no Brasil é a principal ferramenta
Loving the videos mate been binging them lol. I started my bricklaying apprenticeship last week and am looking to soak as much information up as possible! I have a recommendation for a video also - how to read bricklaying plans !
Хорошая работа👌
another great vid nice to see this stage of the build and all the settings out
amazing vid guys - I'm learning a lot ;-)
Do you ever lay 8” or 10 or 12” block only 4” solid’s?
Stu, I’ve just had an extension finished off, 2 stories with a balcony. The mortar on the ground floor is so weak it can be scraped out by dragging a screwdriver across. The mortar on the 1st floor is a bit better but will be rendered so not as worried. Would you recommend grinding out and repointing?
Always have a spair pair of boots mate, I learned that a long time ago.
Would love to be your apprentice for free for some time, would learn loads.
You make that look easy 😂
What's the minimum thickness of a wall for a ground floor wall to support a slab and another storey above?
Laying that first block must feel good.
Laying the last one feels better.
Another great video 👍
Раствор красный вроде закончился, теперь на нормальный серый ложимся😀
hy mate how do u make sure that string line is going straight horizontally?
I think that line runer is best i have just watch video
Cheers Stu .
know it only small but i always check the diagonals get it nice a square to existing
Very nice
Nice job
how do you like those line clamps, ive had some a while now, if i over tighten they lift sometimes so sit a brick on top, handy for running a line round a corner too
Jang was the cameraman, 😮 wow
So slim walls... We making 250-380mm + insulation and facade mostly.
What's the difference between a cut and a scrape?
What Newton’s are the blocks
Been slated for using them line runners ace aren't they... Not so good on long runs under tension tho
You ever use trench block in the footings?
Nice job i like you sir
Belting lol good crew
On brick you have 10mm joint, what joint do you have on block??
15mm
It’s the same mate 10mm joint
@@clemo1808 ?
Only the bed joints are 10mm, purrs you try to keep as close to 10mm as possible to make it work full brick no cuts etc. Also not always possible when sizes vary
12mm-15mm dependin on width
Nice
Please can you tell me what is the name of the red brick line clips are?
Line runners I think
Question? Did you guys first poured concrete into those footings?
Why don’t you use the larger blocks like in America?
Mmm saludos disculpa mi terquedad te pregunte por el tipo de la mezcla para pagar el bloque se ve muy suave pelame no me ignores yo también tengo derecho de saber 😉
where is the foundation waterproofing?
You obviously don’t know what your talking about.
@@patrickmulholland9332 there should be horizontal insulation between the blocks and the strip footing, or I have always done it wrong 😉
@@karolremontuje3904 looks like you’ve been doing it wrong all this time.
@@karolremontuje3904 are you serious?
@stucrompton 😅 buy a setbof fitzbricks pal that line runners cringe as mate top work keep it up ❤
Does the job tho 😃cheers pal
Why no trench blocks?
Why is it single skin stu are you building the inner leaf off the slab ?
There is no inner skin mate, it’s being timber framed.
Sweet keep it up boss 👍
Why don’t they form up foundation footers. It would save trying to level the block
Where are the line runners from stu ?
That's when you need to get your dimensions right at the beginning. 🙄
Why is there no cavity?
timber frame inside jack
@@Stucrompton1 wow that's very fancy!
Stu, my Marra, use your trowel or hamme, to level with, not your hands, or you will end up like me, painful hand. after years of bricklaying. stay safe.
Why do I see most bricklayers plum up from the outside of the line? Has to be the inside all day
Good job mate been laying them nasty blocks for 2 days now,God does my ass and elbows hurt you really make it look it easy, that was some lovely muck you had there well done Jank
