    When people say “consistency hits don’t do anything” they don’t mean that the hits don’t affect the win rate. They mean that the hits don’t change the gameplay. You either have combo and make a board that wins the game or you bricked and don’t play. The hits just make the latter happen more often

    Most builds of SHS I see these days are either as part of Wyrm Piles on Zefra/Swordsoul, or as part of Centur-Ion package. Both Swordsoul and Centur-Ion have Spell/Traps they can play that can be banished to keep from shutting off the effects of the SHS monsters, which is why they're common engines to utilize in both.
    Also I sometimes use the Level 12 SHS Synchro in more "standard" Centur-ion builds for some draws when playing through Evenly Matched(I usually make it when someone declares end of Main, then temp banish Auxilla at the start of an empty board Battle Phase to ensure still having a bunch of resources to work with at the start of next turn), or when I want a 4k Attacker/Def position attacking(which does come up against Ice Barrier on occasion now).

    In defense of the TCG is that no one was calling for the shs hit due to shs getting support I believe like 2 weeks prior. In terms of the tier 0 problem Tear and SE are great examples of how consistency doesn't matter a whole lot. Tearlaments was the top deck for I believe around 2 years and SE was the top deck until I believe Ryzeol both getting consistent hits. The misery that you are talking that the TCG is in related to lack of hits and still having the non-games Dshifter, Protos/colosus, tenpai, and ftk prior to the most recent banlist. The idea of nuking a deck has never been the idea of the TCG community. The reason people were calling for the nuking of SE was due to it being in a tier 0 format and if you didn't it would just go back to being the best deck once ROTA comes out like it was in the OCG after the consistency hits.
    I do agree that the soulpiercer would have been fine simply due to their main starter was typically trying to go through soulpiercer, but you can't blame the TCG community for what konami bans/limits. This is for the same reason they don't blame the OCG/masterduel community for the hits they blame konami.

    • @MarioLopez-xs3vc
      @MarioLopez-xs3vc 2 дня назад +1

      It's generally more the people in charge of the TCG that pull those sweeping bans to push new product, REGARDLESS of what the community wants. Though the community's sheer indifference at many sorts of Limits and visible disgust over the majority of semi-limits probably doesn't help matters when it comes to how they want to design their banlists.

      @@MarioLopez-xs3vc Yeah I completely agree with that I don't know how people think that the community actually has say with how banlists go especially with banlists that hit stuff like lightning storm, shs scarecrow, delicious memory, and the lack of hits decks like SE and Yubel got.

    • @luminous3558

      People that say consistency hits do nothing just mean that it does not fix unfun gameplay patterns and unfairly cripples an otherwise fine deck.
      Take branded for example the deck is completely healthy outside of exactly expulsion/sanctifire lines.
      So do you A limit all their starters or B ban sanctifire and expulsion?
      Like yeah you can still play branded right now, it just feels inconsistent and you are forced to tunnel even harder onto sanctifire because your grind is also worse.

    there has been a noted trend of people fleeing en masse the minute a deck gets even the slightest kiss from a banlist. There's also the fact that it's old new now and lots of people want to move on to whatever new toys come out
    as far as consistency hits, it's not that they don't work its that I don't like them. I don't like the deck being the same but worse, especially if it goes on for multiple waves and you just watch the deck slowly bleed out. More to the point of the video SHS is an exception with that since soulpiercer getting hit was a consistency hit but it was also a non hard once per turn that got too out of hand at 3 with the new support and putting it to 1 reins in the loops alot more.

    I don’t think people think consistency hits do nothing. I think people dislike consistency hits because they feel horrible for the people playing the deck and the people playing against it. No one likes bricking and no one likes getting oppressively full comboed. Consistency hits don’t reduce the amount of non games due to those situations.

  • @jacobwoodard818
    @jacobwoodard818 2 дня назад

    I can't say consistency hits do nothing. However consistency hits shouldn't be pushed because not bricking is healthier than letting a deck perform the same broken combos people hate when they don't brick. Look at decks like Centurion (without Calamity) and Voiceless.
    They have more than 12 1 card combos and most people do not hate them. The better decks become the more clear it becomes that generic negates just aren't healthy. Thus the Baronne, Apallousa,, Savage Dragon, and Beatrice(because of FTKs) bans in the TCG. People want all of their decks strongest pieces to not be generic especially since having generic cards make archetypes individually less unique. People want the game to be a game and are tired of the all out war of decks trying to make more negates than any deck should every have outside of hand traps in the main deck.
    When we get cards like Flamberge generic cards become a massive problem and cards like Maxx C that almost no one wants fixes the game while introducing a level of variance that kills the competitive spirit of the game. Which is why Maxx C probably will never will come back in the TCG. Its because the closest thing we would want from Maxx C is Fuwaross and the almost entirety of the TCG community don't want Maxx C back. Because we don't want to draw 6 cards against decks like pure Swordsoul and screw the other guy on the other side of the table.

      @FleurxKageShi funny enough gamma is hard to play around. Not Many players respect gamma in hand. Since not alot of decks can take advantage of it with a open board and make use of it going second. Going first, gamma is definitely not respected. Unless the opponent has extenders to play past it. Or card destruction isn't that big of a deal. Like tear, sefk and yubel

      I got one, deck is really fun and pretty nuts in master duel. being able to just ignore nib is wild. Note that you don't play all the centurion cards, just 1 auxila, legatia, field spell, 1 of each girl, gargoyle, wake-up and phalanx. It also gives you legitimate reasons to play masuraowo as well.

  • @solidsneaks6656
    @solidsneaks6656 2 дня назад

    Its not so much that the deck fell off, people just moved on because you don't have the best 1-card combo with multiple soulpiercer anymore, and people don't want to rely on wagon as it's significantly more fragile.
    Everyone in the comments says Maxx C but even maxx c isn't an issue as you just combo through it and aim to end on nat beast, nat barkion, apollousa, and any other omnis when possible. That board beats almost every answer that maxx c can draw you that isn't dark ruler or kaijus.
    The consistency hits are also different. Soulpiercer to 1 isn't the worst. Scarecrow to 0 is however very different and makes the deck incredibly fragile as you lose both the massive consistency that a normal summoned soulpiercer gives and the massive amounts of bodies that you can generate from that singular play.
    Personally I despise the idea of completely killing decks like most TCG players support. I'd prefer to either wait and see if the deck gets powercrept or see if there's other hits that can be made to keep it alive but, if you need to hit so many cards then it becomes easier to just ban 1 card instead of hitting around it. Tearlaments in MD is a great example of this, many cards were outright banned or limited just to keep kitkallos in the game while the other formats approached it differently. OCG made the deck nearly unplayable. TCG kept it playable but that leads to it being an incredibly sacky deck to play against.
    Personally I recommend splashing in the centurion engine or even some karakuri plays. The centurion cards compliment the deck incredibly well and just allow you to keep spamming out powerful synchro bosses on the opponent's turn, as well as just flatout ignoring nibiru and still setting up under it. Before the most recent TCG banlist, even while baronne was banned, I was often setups that ended on a 3 mat apollousa, a banish, a blazar, and then i just made red dragon abyss on the opponent's turn, or calamity locking with an insulated crimson dragon if i just didn't want to play the game. Post-ban i'm losing the apollousa but instead i'm making saryuja to dig for more handtraps in case the opponent somehow manages to play through double negate and a banish.

    while i dont think consistency hits dont matter cause personally its more about how 'fair' things feel, like 60 card decks and grass or something like tear and kitkalos no matter how consistent those decks actually are those things resolving just feel awful for the person playing against them. like sure SHS is a lot less consistent in what it does but it still has a good amount of those starters.
    and i think the reason SHS fell off is just that a lot of decks in MD have just gotten to the whole mathmech deck building philosophy of just running a LOT of handtraps with as small an engine as you can thru konami's current design trend. assuming you have the resources, why play SHS when something like fire king snake eyes or yubel does the same thing but usually also has the ability to run spell/traps and give you better follow up and the ability to play around things SHS cant.
