Dude! When she said "Okay", I heard that like it was from a person who reverted to her child self - as though she was still in her childhood as a little girl.
That's the point. Inside of us, the children at the middle of us, just wants happiness and warmth and love. And it's great when it's there, when the beach ball is bouncing around. But that's not all there is to life. There's a bigger game going on in the stadium and at some point we have to face it. We have to take that child and put it aside so that we can grow and move on.

Quite simply one of the greatest written, acted, directed and scored scenes in TV history. I still watch this scene every few months, years later and it has the same impact on me as it did the first time.
The actresses in this series are so damn great. They are so talented. This got me crying and also the last scene when Jill and Laurie talking on the phone, I cried outloud for god's sake. The usher represents Nora, whose job is to expose fake prophets, religions, etc. She's coming to terms with the fact that she's finally ready to believe, but is at odds with herself about it because of her job.
For Nora was this Beach Ball Memory a Memory where she could have a new beginning after the tragedy of her parents because she saw how her Brother smiled after a long time and then this man take it from her.
