Can we take a moment to appreciate Cate Blanchett. All in all seems like a good person. A regal voice, a brilliant actress, doesn't come across as being full of her own importance and pretentious, well spoken and intelligent, and is a very good looking woman for her age.
Nicolas Exactly. She was appearing on a comedy/talk show and that's how she proves that she doesn't take herself too seriously. I find that a nice change from many actors.

Vegemite was the worst food for me at first. Then, my Aussie cousins made it for me the right way. They toasted the bread just right, crispy, but soft in the middle, spread butter, and a tiny bit of the vegemite. It tasted like black bean paste for me, but with more fermentation. It tasted savory, and salty. It was pretty good, and I crave it sometimes.

when she talked about marginalizing the cultural elite I had Ricky Gervais flashbacks. As articulate and classy as Cate Blanchett is, I have to point out that this attitude is exactly what Ricky Gervais was talking about. When you're at the top of the celebrity food chain it's real easy to say whatever you want and be taken seriously almost no matter what. If you're big in hollywood you aren't marginalized, period, and that's the problem. Professors, scientists, small time business owners, and religious leaders are the ones people should be taking advice from, not people who make their living by entertaining and just being famous.
The problem with that thinking is the assumption that people who aren't in fields worthy of advice-giving, were never good enough for those fields. Which is simply not true. Yea, celebrities get an unfair amount of megaphone time but dismissing each and every one of them is hardly the answer. Conversely, you have absolute gits working in fields of science and business who should be pelted with whatever's on hand, every time they utter a word.
I can imagine being starstruck in her presence. She emanates an aura a part of which can be traced as back to playing Galadriel. That character was powerful. Love Cate Blanchett.

Mr Hackett it's just a yeast paste. i get that it's Australian born or whatever, but it's not the best thing ever (although Aussies push that it is, and anyone that doesnt like it isn't eating it correctly). I tried it and liked it the PROPER way(my best friend is an Aussie), but I'm not going around saying American born food is the best ever, either. I think all countries have awesome and not so awesome native food/food products, so i never got why Aussies flipped out about their Vegemite when it's really not all that riveting.
Mr Hackett that said, I'd have authentic Australian BBQ ANY day and you can keep the Vegemite.

I'm Australian and haven't eaten Vegemite or Marmite since I was an infant. It was one of the first choices I made as a human being. I'm sure my parents spread it in moderation but one day I just refused to eat it and no one ever bothered to force it on me ever since. No point really since peanut butter costs the same and is just as easily applied to bread.
