I like their belief about simplicity and less is more. That is usually one of the aspects of elegance. Not trying too hard.
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
like Chanel said simplicity is the key to elegance
This is exactly what I love about French women! I've been making gradual changes to my skin care and wordrobe b/c I want to look classic without having to put a huge amount of effort into planning my clothing. I have a long way to go, though.
@@reginasemenenko148 same❤️
It's all about the clothes really, french girls will take 10mins for hair and make up but you'll never see them going out in yoga pants. That's what makes them classy and elegant
lol i read this now and i do the complete opposite
I didn't see anyone dressed especially nicely. Yes sweatpants are unacceptable, but for the most part it seems like they just wear jeans and a nice shirt or blazer
This is based on their history. In earlier times France was known for its fashion which was extravagant, all over the world. They had the most expensive costumes
how about this: women can wear yoga pants; women can wear nice outfits; women can wear lots of makeup; women can we very little makeup or no makeup at all. Women doing whatever the f*ck they want 2019.
Asalis Zabollone yes they will. Stop the clichés. I was born and raised in Paris, we do not care
It's in France that I got over my insecurities! For years I have been bullied by my family and Indian friends, for having curly hair. So much so, I straightened and seriously damaged my hair from my teenage years. Once I started uni in France, man did I fall in love with my curls, wearing my curly mane with pride!!! I never went back to straightening. Don't even have my hair straightener anymore
Its no excuse, but I'm just letting you know that the indians bullying you gor your curls, is learned behaviour due to British rule/colonisation.
Straight hair, is seen as stereotypically European. So thats why its the beauty standard back in Asia.
thats such a beautiful story!
The secret is in a lifestyle. Good and healthy food and not owereating, great skincare products, walking around a lot etc. Then all you need is a little make up. And that's it!
☝️ I agree.
I have always taken really good care of my skin. I think that is most important and a little lipstick.
Yes, health looks good on everyone!
But parisians smoke like crazy 😲
I wish some people didn't still have the attitude that wearing more or less makeup than others makes you better than or less than.
Thank you!
It does not make you better, but sure it makes you less of a clown
@@EmyN Comparing people to clowns for wearing makeup is taking a mean girl attitude, it's unnecessary. I could just as easily compare many barefaced women to zombies with their dark tired undereyes. Don't tear people down for doing something that brings them more confidence. For some women it's makeup, for others it might be working out, others obsess over their hair, others with their clothes or accessories. Everyone has that one thing that makes them feel better about themselves.
@@Kay2be2mr talking about her having a mean girl attitude but to prove your point you really had to write '...compare many barefaced women to zombies with their dark tired undereyes' lmao
It's unnecessary, right? 😉
So next time when you decide to tell someone not to bring people down, do it yourself because if not you are just blabering nonsensical bullshit and being hypocritical
@@poli8153 That was obviously exactly my point. Don't say things you don't want said back to you.
After seeing the video I think their secret is confidence
Parisian born here: we do put makeup if we are going to gala parties and stuff.
For the everyday stuff, ugh... Who has the time to put a primer, foundation, baking, concealer, bla bla bla?
Maskara, khol, tinted moisturiser, eventually blush and you're ready to go.
For the skincare: it's micellar water, exfoliating sometimes, a mask once a week and moisturiser.
That's it.
Parizankah no kidding. American women cake on their makeup then they wonder why men run away when they take it all off
but you don't use sunscreen ?
@@ghtm6437 no we don't, only when we go in an other country where it hot or when we go out to get tanned and the sun is really really hitting hard. I think only people who have whitest skin among all or/and are afraid to get burned put sunscreen .
thanks
I am trying a French skincare routine and makeup routine and i hope see change in my skin. I don’t really trust the the American ways though I am American. So thank you for writing this it is very helpful
Let me tell you their secret (from the Parisian girls I’ve met). They eat an extremely healthy diet. They take care of their skin. It helps that the sky is always grey in Paris, so they get a free pass if they forgot their sunblock. I think that’s the reason most of them have that smooth porcelain skin. They do blow dry their hair but with the ‘just woke up like this look’ so it looks effortless. They like to starve themselves from time to time. They get weekly massages for cellulite, drainage, lymphatic massages, etc. Their makeup is mostly either Dior or Chanel, no cheap made in China makeup. They have a signature scent and a signature red lipstick. Their clothes although basic are made from quality materials.
Totally agree
Do you actually live in Paris? Because this woman barely exists here.
What I like about Europe is moderation in a lot of things : food, lifestyle, possession, etc. Americans have tendency to want more and more.
im so over the romanticization of french women lol not everyone in america does drag makeup ...my daily look is literally just lipstick (and sometimes mascara) because i take care of my skin
amen! finally someone say it
"im so over the romanticization of french women" Salty much?
Bertha Lovejoy I'm french and I am so over the romanticization of french women myself..litteraly we are like any other woman..and tbh if anyone wants to wear drag or simple make-up it's nothing to shame nor romanticize🙄
The "french woman" has become this american franchise that some americans buy into and brands and the industry like to explore that idea. I do feel that there is obviously a lot of beautiful unique style traits in the french woman but what american are doing lately is out of control :) I once said that american are obsessed with french in a forum and I was condemned but I only said that because of the quantity of books on how amazing and do-it-all-right french are on Amazon. I was replied that is natural since the french are an icon and all the world adore them. Even the reply seemed like a cult :) PS- I love both countries.
Joshima M chill out lol all she is saying is that they making it seem like French women are very natural whereas American women cake their face with makeup when it isn't even like that lmao
They will never tell you the real secret
Cami Camila they party alot
The real secret is ENJOY LIFE AND ACCEPT YOURSELF JUST LIKE YOUR ARE, WITH ALL YOUR FLAWS AND BEAUTY. DO WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD AND NATURAL, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL NOT MATTER WHAT.

Paris women always embody the best style reminiscent of women from the 40s and the 50s: Classic, simple, elegant and classy.
St. Barts STOP ROMANTICISING FRENCH WOMEN I can assure you there a very few simple no makeup beauties in France we are like any other country
Makeup in the 50s was everything but simple!
For you traduction, when she said rouge-à-lèvre, that doesn't translate to red lipstick, it just means lipstick (confusing I know)
Yeah it's called rouge-à-lèvres even if it's blue😂
and it's "translation" not "traduction" 😉 (jsuis française hihi)
I’ve spent a great deal of time in Paris, and I would say this “French beauty” craze is just too much. The women there look like the women in the U.S (incredibly diverse). You would never know who is French and who isn’t unless you hear them speak. Beauty wise, the only difference is perhaps they have a more simple skincare routine and are not as bold with their makeup as you might see here. Stop idolizing groups of women for something that you think they are.
Yes!!! As a French speaker, even I am tired of this ahah
I am French and I can differenciate French people by the way the look, people from different countries look different. It is not an accent thing.

Been in Paris a few times. But it's After staying in the French countryside for months, I literally give zero fks about makeup or shoes or bags. I'll look comfy (no yoga pants because I don't do that in any country)
TY I love this country for actually liberating me from makeup routines and such. I just make sure I shower, clean hair, and perfume and smell good.
What's more important and why do the French look good? They eat quality food. Confidence. Comfort in your own skin. That cannot be faked by products.
It may seem like a cliche and ofc exceptions exist. But it is in THIS country I've finally embraced my looks and stopped with the taking 30min to get ready nonsense.
And oh it helps that long hot showers are frowned upon, so I just...Up and go.
Perfume does not xicer the smell of someone who hasn't showered. No wonder why BO is so bad in this country.
@@lavinder11 Long hot showers are shameful and wasteful. No one needs to take a half hour boiling hot shower to get clean. They just do not.
@@13heheTell that to the folks who leave their homes smelling rank as hell. Hopefully you aren't one of them.
@@lavinder11 damn. I also heard that most french people don't like taking long showers. They just get ready, put some perfume and go out. I thought it was a myth but turns out it's actually true 😓

Simplicity is the key to class
Here we have these ladies and then we have Korean obsession with well you know....🤯🤯
I love their simplicity
I love makeup...n makeup enhances my confidence...!! I love to look presentable always !! U never know wen u might bump into ur school crush or ur soul mate !!
According to this video, the secret, or a key component among them is simplicity. I've read some comments regarding the beauty of these women, their perfect skin, their glow, their natural beauty, etc., and when comparing eastern vs western diets a lot of what we put in our bodies comes right out through our skin. What we eat in the states (or maybe what's considered the norm) is not nearly as healthy as what they eat out there. Even the school meals are significantly healthier (do your research). I also think the fact that they DO put less is a reason the skin is well maintained. Skin is usually sensitive and make-up products have harsh chemicals. A very small percentage of people actually read the ingredients and look up what they're all about. For the most part, people will go and buy whatever is the hype at the moment circulating RUclips, blogs, magazines. This is not to discount those with genetic material that results in troublesome skin or hormonal issues. Still, I do believe the lifestyle differences among the cultures play a significant role. The glow and texture of my skin is significantly enhanced when I eat clean (lots of greens), lay off meat for little bit at a time, and drink loads of water. It also helps me maintain a healthy weight. So much of this has to do with lifestyle and adjustment... and not to get too deep, but the air as well. The air is polluted as hell. That affects us. So does constant sun exposure without protection. Wear SPF!!! xoxo
Good comment
We are simplistic in our definition of beauty. It’s only industries that exaggerates our features because it sells worldwide and it’s gotta attract all sorts of people around the world. But naturally we French find sublime beauty and chic in simplicity. Because it’s elegant and classy to us. ☺️
Some of us are not naturally beautiful like that, and we don't stay young and glowy forever. There's nothing wrong with getting a little help from cosmetics. While I enjoy the chic "Parisian girl" look, I also celebrate our ability to embrace whatever self-expression we choose. If Instagram, natural, or no makeup makes someone feel fabulous, so be it. I don't see anyone as being superior because they're low maintenance. I think everyone should have their self-esteem built up enough to know that they don't NEED cosmetics to be beautiful, but if they choose to use them, that's fine.
That's why you need to exercise and eat the right food. Not McDonalds and pizza takeout everytime.. The French walk a lot and even the school meals are healthy.
💯
Yet none of them actually look "amazing". No shade, but like, I am a girl and I admire other girls that take good care of themselves and dress nice, have nice hair and makeup and none of those girls would actually make me want to look twice at them and be like "daaaaaamn guuuurl, what's your secret??"
Do you know what I mean?
They are beautiful, but wouldn't spark my interest in wanting to know their beauty routine.
Their skins were flawless
Parisian born - take care of your base. Your face is a canvas, and should be treated as such. Most french girls won’t wear SPF, but as a derma, this is fundamentally one of the most important things you can do for your skin. I was drilled about skincare from pre-teen. It has stood me in good favour, even more so now I study scalp/skin for a living. 🌹
Why should they look drop dead gorgeous for you to go dammmn girl? That's probably the whole point, they are confidrnt in their skin and don't go above and beyond to please others with beauty because their lifestyle is more living in the moment and pleasure oriented.
I’ve been in Paris a few times, one thing I noticed, especially for mature women is that they are very simply dressed. Either quite eccentric or elegant, almost always in a casual way. Simple make up, either way All women are beautiful. Love the city.
French women are fabulous, always very classy and delicate, the less is more kind. Nothing vulgar in their appearance. I can understand the fascination around them.
The French alot of them smoke way too much. Disgusting habit and drinking too much wine is not good for you.
Lol then there's me cakin bakin my face, lashes all day everyday.
Applying makeup is just way too much fun for me to stop doing it.
Hi..
If you love the way you look with more makeup on, then do it!!! You're free to express yourself in whatever way you want!
Makeup is a fun way to express yourself, you do you :)

That's awesome!! It's too fussy for me. But we should all do what we enjoy. And makeup is clearly something you enjoy! And I bet you look awesome.
They are so pretty. İ hate too much make up too. Just tinted moisturizer mascara blush. Some sheer powder and lipgloss
Less is more. ALWAYS. :)
nope it's not 'always'.
@@esindirik4447 Always.

1:33 the hair of the girl in the middle- beautiful!
Honestly what I see is that they are all slim.
I feel like no matter what facial features you got, if you follow a healthy and balanced diet and keep yourself clean and fresh, you look elegant and classy. In my country people say “being clean equals being noble” or something like that.
διμουρο κουλι I don't know though because I myself am not skinny whatsoever but I'd like to say my skins quite decent, I've seen plenty of skinny girls with acne. My diet isn't amazing but I drink plenty of water I feel like that's what makes a real difference and avoiding spicy food lol.
French women invest time and money on their skin care. They also have something that not all women have, self confidence. In addition, they never try too hard. Perfection in hair and make-up is not their goal, nor do they feel it is sexy to show too much skin. They save that for private moments. They also know how to wear accessories very well.
How do you know they feel it's not sexy to show skin? And what according to you is the reason for their self confidence?
There is this weird idea in France that that there is something unseemly about self adornment or glamour, like somehow by "trying" you are admitting that you care about how you look. Weird for a fashion city, right? Well, that can work if you are in fact just naturally stunning. But not so much if you are just plain. When I travel to France, most women I see do literally zero to their hair-no color, no styling, and let me tell you, it doesn't look great. For me, I am impressed most by those that put in the most effort. I am always the one "overdressed" for events, and I wish that were not the case. Everything is just too casual these days. You should not look the same going to the grocery store as you do going to a friend's dinner party or BBQ. Just my opinion.
Oh I love this simplicity and naturality!
İn my country woman are tend to have a full finished make-up, heels and ect. Not everybody but majoruty.
And now when i see this beatuful french girls I understand that I am not the only one who loves comfort and naturality and that is absolutely Ok and Beautiful!) Maybe I was parisian in my previous life)

Less is definitely more. Natural is beautiful😍x
And after studying them i find It's actually they believes in simplicity and quality that's make em so elegant!
So basically, just like yourself 💗
Stop saying "skin care is everything". I take care of my skin and I'm very knowledgeable about this issue since years, but I don't have a skin like "French women". Discoloration, acne, face hair, redness, purple under-eye area and all these stuff just don't go away, because it also has to do with genetics. I get it French beauty secret is natural beauty. Mine is not and I'm sorry about this after doing everything I need to do about skin care.
People don't understand the concept of "genetics". People with naturally nicer skin will put their two cents in about skincare but in reality, people with acne know a lot more. "just do this and this and you'll have beautiful skin". Everyone is different and should have their own skincare regime. One thing they forgot to mention is the difference in stress levels and diets around the world. That's their secret.
Yes and also genetics. Science and our biological makeup are stronger than anything we ingest or any medication we can take for our skin. There is only so much we can change. I know people who workout 24/7 and eat all organic and non-dairy diets with cystic acne. Hormones and genetic as well. Please do research before you write "facts".
I can advice you to use a bit of lavender oil with water for your acne, no make up on it or it will not cicatrise efficiently. Always keep it clean and don't touch it or you will infect it, it's strictly discipline, I'm sure you already knew it. For discoloration, if it's red you can play around it : use a bit of concealer on it, maybe a bit of green concealer to get a pinker shade of your skin tone, and a pink blush (or lipstick) on the cheeks, discretely to recreate your blushy tone. For face hair, i know that people care about it and judge women as masculin if they don't remove it so anything you are gonna do with it will be a statement : agree or disagree. If you are ready to remove it, use a cream to hydrate skin, maybe a concealer to break shades. Or keep it. We generally remove lip hair and define eyebrows quickly. For redness, if that means your have red areas on your skin it's because blood vessels have dilated under the pressure so release it, hydrate with your lavender and then, just get able to see it like it will really be : skin is a whole, see it like a clear wall with its nice unique stuff. Purple under eye usually means that you are not having enough sleep. Drink water, sleep a little more, maybe wake up 30 min later with time freed by less makeup routine, concealer and that's it. Nothing will really go away as you will always remember it but it will be your face you will proudly show. And the more you'll see it, the more you will appropriate your image and you won't have to really think about it. You always can find ways that work better for you, oil prodigieuse, a specific cream... But you will ultimately feel like beauty comes from the inside and people are only gonna care about that. You will look effortless but you will be appreciated for your confidence and humility. Makeup is all about the way you look at yourself.
Tortue DeRien thank you very much for making this awesome comment. I will keep in mind the things you said. I even took a screenshot of it. I appreciate it very much.
I think what you eat is also important.
My fav beauty tip is getting sun exposure for 10-15 mins a day. I feel good and I glow lightly.
Just loved
I love french beauty. Less is more
None of these girls look fake with fillers. Just nice and natural...very refreshing.
I am truly a French girl I do the same thing mascara, sometimes brow powder, lip balm and I am out the door.
yo those are not beauty secrets : "i put mascara" "i put daycream" "i put blush" ???
i'm really mad for no reason "beauty rituals" would have been a better title cz those are NOT SECRETS
because it is a secret. Our secret is the art of simplicity.
The secret here is to be simple.. don't wear so much makeup..
That's the whole point...the "secret" is there really is no secret. Just work with what you have is basically what these women do.
What was that song in the beginning of the video?
Americans (I can say this, I am one) use so many products and put so much stress of flawlessness that they aren't even approachable. When I see another woman who enhances her beauty instead of covering it with another face, I want to talk to her. Ladies, lets stop this passive-aggressive competition thing. Makeup should be fun, and if you have fun doing winged eyeliner and heavy couture, that's great, but you should try a little of everything. Simplicity is the greatest way to feel beautiful.
Beautiful ladies 🥰❤️
If you have an even skin tone then you really don't need make up. I have dark circles that are visibly darker than the rest of my face so I use some face powder around my eyes.
The thing is that French Pharma brands have superior products. Like Bioderma has great cleanser and creams and also creams with actives like glycolic acid - they call it brightening cream. Or they have gel-cream with salicylic acid and niacinamide - they call these treatment creams.. I think Avene has a cream with superior but gentler form of Retinol - something brightening cream. It's easy to look radiant and yet have simple, minimalistic, affordable routine when you have such products available easily. Then you don't need foundation or concealer. Just blush and mascara is good enough.
About hair - their shampoos are mild and don't strip oil off the scalp. When you have that plus your hair are not abused by years of heat from harsh dryers, hair will naturally be silky and shiny and beautiful.
Americans are just unlucky.
Very European, I would say. For me the most important part is the day cream and of course sun screen. Never leave the house without sun screen on your face. You'll thank yourself when you're old.
what's the music? grappelli?
everyone is beautiful. stop asking around for a specific thing. stop showing what is beautiful and what is not
troll
I agree with you, but there is more than one aspect to this: everyone has their own opinion, but that doesn''t neccesarily make it an universal law. If you know that, the world and the social media can say anything they want. :)
You decide how much effort you want to put in your beauty routine. I see comments shaming «american women». I’m a norwegian girl who likes it pretty natural with some artsy eye looks once in a while. I dont shame the ones who put on a full face, I dont shame the ones who put on mascara or nothing. Everyone has their own preferences. Dont be rude and sit here, in a youtube comment section, deciding who has more worth based on how much makeup they put on.
@1:00 - Girl on the left... Hello nurse!!
I live in France for some time now, I 've been everywhere, Paris, Normandy, Bretagne... Anyway, french women take really good care of their skin, they are fresh and simple. Their charm is not in their beauty, but their attitude, they are fun and overall, super charming. It' s quite awesome actually. In opose with most American women, that pretty much do their makeup for 2 hours and end up looking worse than with their natural face
Anku uuu I think a lot of it is upbringing and lifestyle. My parents taught me to embrace my natural beauty and be charming with good character. I’m not a perfect person, obviously, no one is, but honestly, I feel so elegant in my own skin and very much relate to the French ways of style.
Too simple for me!
None of them are that pretty except for the tall one in 0:47 but I guess it’s their bodies the way they dress their hair is what making them attractive and easy on the eyes
Day cream. Got it.

Soap of Aleppo Syria💚💚
Where can you get this soap
If it's true that French women don't like to put makeup on , how come there are so many French cosmetic ?
Not as much as american or asian cosmetics. It's mostly luxurious brands that make cosmetics.
How is it possible that everyone looks so pretty?
i don't live in france but in my country daily makeup is pretty much the same. basically just day cream/sun screen, lipstick, blush. It's very common makeup style all over the world i believe. only in america people can't leave the house without putting on 15 layers of makeup. too much makeup ruins skin, it's basic logic.
Thanks to chemical peels every 6 weeks, I can skip foundation too!😍
Lol I’m American and I wear less makeup than all of them... it’s called no makeup. I think it’s mostly just American media and Hollywood where it seems that Americans wear a lot of makeup
most of what they said I thought was pretty basic and what most women everywhere already do (a little face cream, lip balm, etc.) wasn't anything exotic they said lol but anyway
S. Y. Dats d whole point..they don use a lot of make up
S. Y. It depends where you live for me this was "exotic" because in the U.K women (old and young) love heavy fake tan, dark brows, lots of eyelashes etc. I heard it's similar in America nowadays.
Rainbow Cake most places in America most women don’t wear that much makeup on the average day
Well not in America and trust me u know I live there

As a French woman I personally prefer to look average every day, no make up, no hair done, and IF I decide to be pretty, I'm gonna put more effort and ... BANG ! looking fab ! Voilà !
