Thank you for watching! I have time stamps in the description box for your reference, as well as library cards in the video. For the written recipes, please visit my corresponding blogpost: dailyconnoisseur.blogspot.com/2020/09/best-dinners-ever-early-september-meals.html I would love to know how your meal planning is going. Do you have any requests for this series? Let me know. Love, Jennifer
Enthused to try your tart recipe as we need good goat cheese recipes for our low dairy family members; marry me chicken has been on mental list of meals to try so I’m passing it on to my daughters to add to our menu after vacation. We are in packing food for road trip meals mode this week.
I enjoy this series, so thanks for sharing with us! I notice when you share recipes for the week, it's usually 4 meals. Do you guys eat leftovers for the other 3 nights? We are a family of 7 and I rarely seem to have enough leftover for more than 2 or 3 servings. I'm just curious how you work to stretch things out for your family. Any tips would be appreciated! :)
I love these meal planning videos. You have inspired me, and I am cooking again! It’s nice to see someone else who wears aprons. I love wearing an apron when I cook and I still have my grandmother’s apron, it is 1940’s vintage. It’s very precious to me.
It’s almost 2 years later and we still make the marry me chicken. I make 1 1/2 times the amount of sauce and serve it over rice. I cut chicken breasts into slices and just simmer it on the stove top for 15 min. One of our favorites!
Absolutely loved this video, Jennifer, and got some great Ideas! I am doing "Shelftember" for the month of September, meaning trying to use up what's In my freezer and pantry, and trying to limit myself to a tiny ($35) budget weekly to get fresh Items (milk and produce). We are eating better than ever, and It feels so good to be cleaning out and using up stuff that Is getting old. Then In October: a big Costco run for me to restock. But I love the creativity It Inspires. Just a sampling of the things I made last week, all from scratch: Chicken Pot Pie, Taco Casserole, Creamy Italian Chicken Pasta and Hawaiian Meatballs (using homemade meatballs I had In the freezer.) And you are right - meal planning makes all the difference. I got the meal planning notepad you have, and on deck for this week: Corned Beef (with cabbage, carrots and potatoes), Baked Rigatoni, Sweet and Tangy Salmon, Ritz Cracker Chicken Bake, and Roast Chicken. We eat leftovers for lunch, and my kids have really been enjoying the meals. Thank you for the Inspiration...I have all the Ingredients for Marry Me Chicken so I will put that on the plan for next week!
A very quick and simple recipe I found by Nigella Lawson...my favorite cooking show and cook.....Fry up a few slices of bacon, get all the goodness (or badness depending on how you look at grease lol), take the bacon out, leave the grease, pop in the salmon and grill it up! Oh my gosh it SO delicious. And SO quick for a busy, tired evening.
I had to laugh when you insisted the chuck roast with the aujus sauce didn't look appetizing- I actually thought it looked sooooooooooooo GOOD! I was drooling! 😆 You have motivated me to get back to meal planning. Great post. Always inspirational!
I thought the Au Jus and fries looked delicious! Now that summer is winding down and life is a bit more predictable, I'm back to setting the week's menu on Sunday night. It really is a game-changer. I can't stress it enough. Thanks again for the recipes!
These recipes look wonderful! After you posted the yogurt/homemade bread recipes, I started a separate recipe notebook titled “Jennifer” Everything has been so good! So happy you have nearly reached the 100k mark. Well deserved. You have worked very hard!
I love your cooking, Jennifer! I especially appreciate that you add your own twist on your recipes, and Kudos on that big ol' faithful cast iron skillet. I have one just like it that I've used for 39 years of cooking for my family. It's one of my very best kitchen tools. I am considering the air fryer since my two DILs have them and love them. Great looking meals and thank you for sharing them so we can be inspired and eat well too. (The Hoagie sandwiches looked scrumpch with those fries!!)
Don’t you love it when you have a week of hits?! The au jus sandwiches and marry-me chicken looks especially good! Reminds me of that “engagement chicken” recipe... 🍋 🐓
Thank you for the recipe inspiration. We moved a couple of months ago, and had our belongings in storage for about a month in between our move from city to city. I gave away every pantry, baking, spice, and canned item I had. I’ve been trying to get all of my staples back, in the midst of finding my lost cooking groove, and finally, I had success with your Moroccan tilapia. We all - including my almost 3-year old - loved it! Especially the fruit salad. I ate more of that than the fish! Thank you for always giving great ideas. I need the boost and the variety!
This was the best meal planning video you've done yet ( my humble opinion). I'll have to watch it a few times to catch all of the good ideas. Happy Labor Day!
I am loving your meal planning videos!! My super-picky 3 year old loved the homemade hamburger helper from you last video! We have the same air fryer and it is great. Will definitely be trying out your fries recipe!
Growing up, my mother always planned the week's meals. She would go through the supermarket circular to see what was on sale/best deals and build it around that.
You look lovely in that color combination. These meals look amazing and I'll be pinning them all for future use. Thank you Jennifer! Just to let you know, I tried pinning the recipes with the corresponding recipe image but it's only showing the first image on your blog post. I'm not sure if that can be fixed.
@@TheDailyConnoisseur lol, yes. As much as I love that picture I may not click it if I don't see yummy food on my Pinterest board months down the road when I'm looking for a recipe.
I made the Moroccan Chicken with Fruit Salsa. OURSTANDING!! For the salsa, I used ingredients I had on hand, ie, Papaya, Avocado, Orange, and raisins. It was outstanding! Thank you. I love your recipe ideas.
I love all of your cooking videos! You have given me some great dinner ideas for my husband and I. I make a version of your tart recipe, but I call it a quiche. Same method and it is so good!
I love seeing what you do for meals! I roll my lemons and limes under my hand and on the counter/cutting board before I squeeze them in my handheld juicer it helps!
You look stunning in that color combination, and your hair and makeup as well. Beautiful as always, but those colors/makeup look especially good on you! Love these meal ideas. I will have to try some of these. Thank you for another great video.
Love your cooking videos. I am so burned on cooking and I have a daughter with so many dietary restrictions but I watched your videos and figured out what substitutions I could do. I think I will try a variation on your tart dish, your chicken dish but I think I can do the tilapia as is! Thanks so much for such helpful content.
Yes! I needed this inspiration today- our meals have been the same old recipes. We have been wanting to get a French fry slicer too so this was perfect timing. We planted 140 potato plants so we will be having a lot of French fries, lol. It's time to start planning!
These dinners looked so delicious, Jennifer, that I made the Marry Me Chicken today for dinner and it was out of this world delicious! It’s one of my new favorites! I’m planning to make the vegetable goat cheese tart next - it looked scrumptious. Thank you for sharing :)
Every time I watch your grocery/menu video, I get a little thrill, because you do yours like I've done mine for years now. 😂🤣 I guess that means I'm a grownup. 😂❤ I do so enjoy buying in bulk and having things on hand. I also try to shop mostly sales and in season. Which can be.... interesting... with 2 teens in the house! ❤ the food all looks so lovely, very inspirational. Thank you for the glimpses into your days.
I really enjoyed this! I always need help with meal planning with our family of five. The French dip, mango salsa tilapia and the marry me chicken is on my list to make!
Thanks, Jennifer! I appreciate all the effort you put in to making your videos special. And, I’m so glad you included the veggie tart recipe, as our family are vegetarians...Keep up the inspiring content!
Thank you for the great ideas-it is always nice to get out of my recipe rut : ) Barrimundi is another great fish-not as inexpensive as tilapia, but it’s so mild and delicious. It’s good dredged in flour, then egg, and finally Panko. Then just cook it in a little butter in the iron skillet. Yum!! Would be great with the topping you used in the tilapia recipe, too.
Thank you so much for these ideas!! I made the French Dips tonight and everyone loved them!! Dinner ideas can be challenging and I appreciate these recipes!!
Awe these meals look so good. I made a wonderful summer salad of chopped fresh strawberries, watermelon, English cucumber, fresh mint leaves, feta cheese, lemon juice and balsamic vinegar. I added chopped celery for more crunch. The recipe called for sumac, I didn’t have any so I left it out. The salad was so delicious. It would have been better at the start of summer when berries are so sweet, plump, juicy. And you need to eat it all at one time. It doesn’t make for a good left over. I’ve never had fresh mint either, wow! So good and refreshing.
I appreciate these videos from you so much! I always end up learning so many great tips from you and you really translate everything so elegantly. You are showing us how even as busy Mothers we can still make beautiful meals. I love how you communicate, thank you =)
I think she cut them lengthwise. Cutting crosswise and cutting off the ends make using the citrus juicer much easier to use. If it’s a huge lemon I actually quarter the lemon and squeeze the quarters one at a time.

I’d love to see a video about your must-have favorite items that you routinely get from Costco! 😊 I enjoy shopping there when I’m brave enough to face the crowds 😂😅 I enjoyed this video and look forward to more meal planning videos! 😋
Enjoyed watching you cook today. I agree with you about the lemon squeezer. It's easier if you first slice off the thick ends. But it's still a little difficult. I finally donated mine and replaced with OXO lemon squeezer. It is easier and faster for me and completely gets the half. The juice goes into a measuring cup.
Great video! With that lemon squeezer - I cut the top off the lemon and perhaps put it the other way around? If the lemon is ‘open’ at both ends the juice will have more space to come out and there’s less resistance when you squeeze.
Can you also do a homeschooling morning routine video? How do you fit in breakfast, chores etc and school your children? Or do you do all chores etc AFTER homeschooling is done?
Jennifer, WOW!!!! My meals are really boring compared to yours! I have a few good recipes and the others are just basic. I guess it's time for me to begin thinking about some new dishes.
I so enjoyed this video...you could be on Food Network. My husband loves pot roast...I’ll have to try it in the crock pot looks amazing. Your Mom has a fig tree? I would love that because I love figs...I live in the Northeast so no chance of that 🤣. Yes Jennifer please do a video On pantry staples etc. Also, where did your love of cooking come from...watching your Mom or self taught?
You said your potatoes didn’t grow well but your climate might be too warm and might have more success with sweet potatoes You might want to look into that more before trying next year or try growing potatoes during the California “winter” I know your in Southern California but it’s a big area with lots of climate zones
I really enjoyed this video. Would love to see how you clean your cast iron skillet! Thank you for putting us on to Mary’s Nest. I started prepping my pantry by going to the store and buying the buy one get one free items only for my pantry. I’m going to do that every week as it makes $5 or $10 go far.
Everything looks so good! The chicken and the goat cheese tart especially! I love goat cheese. I eat keto, and I can adjust your meals to keto easily! I’ll start with the goat cheese tart, I think I’ll simply make crust less. Did I mention I adore goat cheese lol! Very well done Jennifer! Thank you!
A tip I learned from Martha Stewart’s cooking show about lemon juicing...you cut off the pointy bit on the ends to have a flat surface to squeeze on top of. So much easier!! The French dip looked amazing. Trying that next week!!
Your meals looked wonderful! I find that almost any meal looks more beautiful and appetizing when served on Blue Willow 💙 I need an herb chopper, that looks like a game changer! Chopping cilantro is my least favorite cooking task, and I do it multiple times a week!
Loved this again!👩🍳👨🍳 great recipes! It's always so amazing when the husband's take part in cooking 🍳 lol I'm sure they enjoy exploring new skills in this department 😁 great content, costco and samsclub are our go to for our household as well, the quality for grass fed meats and vegetables are always great👌 as always best regards 🥀 Miss. Lilly 🥀
I made a pork roast the other day. I forgot how easy it is to make in the crockpot. Even my toddlers ate it up. I actually cooked it overnight and then put it on warm before heading out to church. Because I did that, I didn't add any veggies to the crockpot because I didn't want them to be mush. I served it with buttered carrots that I cooked in my cast iron skillet. The carrots were also very good.

Your meals looked wonderful! I find that almost any meal looks more beautiful and appetizing when served on Blue Willow 💙 I need an herb chopper, that looks like a game changer! Chopping cilantro is my least favorite cooking task, and I do it multiple times a week!
Thank you, Heather! I’m using your article in the next 3 articles on dress 😊
Fixed the Marry Me chicken for my family, they loved it!! Thanks
Great video, thank you! That brown looks great on you! You should fill your wardrobe with that color.
Thank you!
Loved this again!👩🍳👨🍳 great recipes! It's always so amazing when the husband's take part in cooking 🍳 lol I'm sure they enjoy exploring new skills in this department 😁 great content, costco and samsclub are our go to for our household as well, the quality for grass fed meats and vegetables are always great👌 as always best regards

Yummy! You just inspired me for the week! Thank you!
Jennifer, these meals are really yum 😋Thanks for sharing
