Hi Jennifer! I belong to an Orthodox Christian group and the lady who runs this group actually referred your page to us. I just call my pantry a pantry. People assume too much and pantry keeps things cordial :-) I am stocking up on canned goods and some meat. My brother, we live together I was mom's caretaker and he's trying to help me get back on my feet) has been out of work since the first of the year. We have been living off of our pantry and freezer. It has been such a HUGE blessing as I am the only one working and not making mush more than minimum wage. When I moved from Iowa to Tennessee I had no money but I huge pantry to help with things until I got a job. Pantry's are very important and if things go good and you do not need the food or won't get to it before it expires, bless someone you know may be having a difficult time.
My friend suggested stocking up on canned goods and bottled water each year, then donating to the food bank and re stocking. This way you are prepared and generous💝
Ive tought of that, the worse that happens is you donate - however canned goods will last alot longer than one year, no need to donate each year from your prepper pantry anyway.
@@raia9 Yes, I rotate my "emergency" supplies every spring, and donate what's going to expire within the next year. If it has another couple of years to go, I keep it. That way I don't have to start from scratch when I replenish.
So good Jennifer! I can't wait to try some of theses recipes. I love "Victory Pantry", which I assume came from "Victory Garden". My grandmothers were young homemakers during WWII. This reminds me of their "can do" attitudes and optimism as they grew their own food, a lot of which they canned to stock their pantries. They were victorious and exemplified the attitude that we should have as we plan and prepare. 💛🤗💛
I like Victory Pantry, makes me think of all the people who pulled together to fight evil during WW II, to them I am still grateful and humbled. Maybe I will watch the movie "Spitfire" (1942) Leslie Howard, David Niven this weekend. Heads up , you will cry at the end.
@@kerry3710 thanks, I realized that that was the original English title after I went and ordered, a newer. hopefully better, DVD from amazon, the VHS tape I had was from a good print, so I know it is out there.
@@mytws I watched the movie last night (on RUclips, lol). What a good one! I discovered, after my comment, that the movie was called Spitfire in the U.S. and First of the Few I n England.

I’ve been building my food and household supply over the last year. Usually I only worry about it going into late Fall and try to keep stocked for winter. I’m in Canada and I simply don’t want to go to the store when it’s cold and miserable. This year I just kept up with it through covid and have been slowly building. Some other things to include are items that make you happy. I make sure I have LOTS of coffee, comfort items when are sick (Vick’s VapoRub etc), fully charged back up battery packs for phones (Mophies), cash and entertainment items (Kobo with library account logged in, puzzles etc.)
Oh yes, I always watch til the end! I appreciate that you are not overly wordy. 20 minutes or less is the perfect time for a quick breather in my day, and you give us the right amount of info and inspiration, not too much. Well done! You are my favorite you tuber!
I like the nostalgic sound of the Victory Pantry and Victory Garden. They're uplifting while also motivating us to be purposeful. Thank you for touching on this topic. I've had a preparedness pantry for many years, and it's proven itself very useful.
I *LOVED* this video, particularly the pantry info. I've been making a list for the store over the past few days and have been contemplating a pantry-style haul and now, I'm all in. I prefer the term "Victory Pantry", as I have such deep affection and admiration for the Homefront Honeys who took their jobs as homemakers seriously as part of the War effort. Having a well-stocked pantry really does give one a sense of victory over fear or panic, doesn't it? Well done, Jennifer! And that mac n' cheese looks ridiculously delish! Thanks again!
I started to stock up this summer. I have never kept much extra food, so it has been a challenge trying to find an organized place for everything, and also a mental challenge to buy some of these bulk items. We don't have a walk in pantry, so I converted our upstairs linen closet to a pantry. I put the linen items like tablecloths and fitted sheets in a bin for under the bed. A lot of the food was on baker's racks in our hot garage, and I realized that it wasn't a good idea and that I had to find somewhere in the house.
Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy these meal planning/prepping videos. My husband is always amazed that we never run out of any necessities - I always have a spare or 3 tucked away. A little good planning ahead makes for smoother days and we could all use that.
Being prepared is always a good thing and even more so now. I'm making sure we have enough of what we need, also I like the idea of not having to go out but every 3 to 4 weeks to stock up on the fresh produce. Thanks Jennifer!
If you have sourdough starter then sourdough pizza is a doddle! 2 cups starter 2 cups flour 1-2 tsp salt 5 tbsp olive oil At this point, I just eyeball it it’s so foolproof
I prefer Victory pantry, to me prepper pantry has a negative connotation. Growing up my family had a pantry that could sustain us for years, I think that’s the way most people lived. Stock up on a good buy or jar all the produce while it’s in season. My parents would buy, from the butcher, a whole lamb or half cow, prep the meat for different meals and freeze it in a huge freezer. We would come home from school to mounds of meat that my parents and grandmother were hand chopping into different meals. Or tomatoes, apricots, butter, yogurt, orca leaves, whatever needed replenishing. I miss seeing them working together like that.
Victory pantry for me. This is good information and your meals look delicious. I did learn the lesson that nasty little weevil things will chew through anything; unopened pasta, powdered milk, flour bags, nothing was off limits. I now seal everything up in freezer zip lock bags, glass, or freeze. I also learned my lesson buying too many canned goods because they had expiration dates that weren't as long as I assumed. A large family wouldn't have any problems going through large stock but us singletons might.
I love your meals of the week series! I also use your meals to make up my grocery list, replacing anything hubby doesn't care for with his fav meat and potatoes. Love your prepper extra this week...one thing I added this year was a grow light, and extra seeds, perfect for growing inside during winter months. Have a lovely week. Linda
Good morning, Jennifer! All of your meals looked so yummy, especially that shrimp scampi. 😍 I'm glad you guys enjoyed that way of making your BBQ ribs. It's definitely a favorite of ours. Oh and thank you for your great tips on the prepper pantry, I really should work on that for us.
Thank you, Mandy! I love your cooking videos. Your ribs recipe was excellent. I think you cooked yours on a lower temp. I might try that next time. ~ Jennifer
I know Anderson’s very well. Every trip between northern and Southern California, that was where we stopped for lunch. I even took my youngest there two years ago during a car trip from Oregon to Calif.!
New to your channel and trying to simplify my wardrobe to capsule. I just purchased a square scarf and I'm going to try to incorporate scarves in my wardrobe. Can you do a video on different ways to wear scarves and can you show us all your scarves you'll be wearing for Autumn/Winter please. Love your meal videos too.
Thank you for your videos… I love homemaking, but as you know it can be daunting sometimes! Your videos always seem to come at a time when I am about to fall into a rut and need a fresh bit of motivation.
I love your scarf Jennifer. It’s lovely on you. I don’t have much space in my kitchen, just cupboards so I just stock up on a canned goods. We don’t do “prepper” or “victory” pantries here in Australia. People who live in the country no doubt stock up because they live so far from shops.
Thank you for your channel! I love it, you are helping me to be a better wife, mom and homemaker. Praise God 🙌 for your diligence, you bring God glory. ❤
We call ours a Prepper pantry, but we have been actively been building ours over the last few years. We include all regularly used household items as well (toilet paper, tissues, laundry soap, first aid supplies, etc.)
Your videos are so comforting on a cold, rainy day. I love these meal ideas! I love Shrimp scampi 🍤 linguine, and I have one son who ADORES shrimp, and one son who hates it, so I usual throw some cooked chicken in mine. We make homemade pizzas, too! The fact that you make it about 1x a week encourages me to put it into our weekly meal plan. I recently made it using the Stonefire Naan flatbread from Costco, with everyone picking their toppings, and my husband who was skeptical said it turned out really well! Normally I make my own dough. But the Naan flatbread was a quick fix, one rainy Sunday afternoon! I love your concept of a “Victory Pantry”. This is what we do, too, and we did not need to even go to the grocery store during all the panic buying of 2020! (Except for fresh fruit & vegetables) Buying extra of what you eat, plus having a little 25 year shelf life food, is such a blessing to have on hand. It’s cool to see so many of my pantry staples in your pantry!
Yesterday, I bought beautiful plates from Bavaria at the Goodwill, thanks to all your videos showing your lovely plates. Thank you! You have encouraged me in many ways to enjoy life more!
Victory Pantry or Liberty Pantry. In alignment with the Victory Gardens of the earlier part of the century. It conveys a sense of personal empowerment connecting with the collective of humanity, and humble roots. Love this video, Jennifer! And all of your videos, really. Love the meal prep, capsule wardrobe, monthly Chic Assignments...Thanks for all you do. It's a pleasure.
I call mine “pantry like my mamaw’s!” Lol. I’m 62 and I can remember my grandmothers having a lot of food stocked up in their basement. Most of it was food they had canned from their garden. But they also had other grocery canned foods and a stocked freezer. They grew up during the depression, so they knew what it was like to do without. I learned a lot from them. One of my grandmothers would wash and rinse her aluminum foil she had used and would reuse it later. I do this with freezer storage bags. My son and husband call me cheep, but I say I’m just frugal and don’t see why we can’t reuse some things. Enjoyed your video!
I prefer Victory Pantry because it reminds me of a Victory Garden and sounds hopeful. All your recipes looked delicious. You are a really great cook! Thanks so much for all the wonderful dinner ideas. xo, Karen
This makes 4 individual pizza crusts. I make it ahead of time and freeze. My pizza dough recipe: 6 2/3c all-purpose flour, 1 T salt, 2 t sugar, 2 1/2c warm water, and 4 1/2 t instant yeast. Of course, activate the yeast with the warm water and sugar. Allow to sit for 10 minutes. Combine flour and salt with water mixture. Knead well and allow to rise for 1 hour. Punch down. Allow to rise another hour. Divide into 4 portions and use or freeze. I do this recipe in a bread maker, in a kitchen aid and in a food processor. It all works.
It’s a bit difficult because we’re vegan, but my tip is just to have my daughter sprouting seeds for a garden. She loves it. Though we shop, we’re prepped so we can have lots of vegetables to stay heathy. This helped so much. Thank you! I like either pantry. But I do prefer Prepper pantry. 😀
I think the key to a good pizza crust is to bake it at a high heat -- 450 to 500 degrees. That way the bottom crisps and it rises quickly.I love split pea soup and lentil soup which are made similarly at my house. Some ideas for toppings for lentil or split pea soup is to add crisp, crumbled bacon, sour cream, and green onions. Oh, and croutons. I guess I haven't heard of victory pantry so mine is a prepper pantry. I did plant an extra large garden this year so perhaps I have a victory garden for my prepper pantry! Great pantry ideas. One thing I think gets overlooked is salt. Gotta have some flavor. Thank you.
Ahhh, I love Andersen's Split Pea Soup!!! We used to eat there as well. What a blast from the past! We live in TX now, but we're from CA,, and we always enjoyed stopping there on road trips as kids. I'm so making Split Pea this menu round!
I really enjoy these videos that cover your recipes, meal planning and dinners of the week because I love trying new recipes and creating in the kitchen, and of course, your homemaking and ten-item wardrobe videos are huge favorites, as well. First, you look so pretty in today's video and I love that Mont Kiji scarf. I may splurge and take a closer look, because the first one you showed in an earlier video caught my eye. The pastrami sandwiches looked delicious and I was happy to see that The Hat has a location near me in Lake Forest. Now, about that difficult lemon squeezer, I used to own the exact same one and gave it to my sister. I have very small and likely weak (LOL) hands and it was too hard to use. I now have a small plastic one where I squeeze a lemon half into the container. I still have to strain the liquid for seeds, but it’s manageable. I’m going to make your shrimp scampi with linguini, because I made your linguine with clam sauce and it was wonderful. I’m hoping to make the split pea soup in a slow cooker, as I don’t have an Instant Pot and hope it works out. I'm looking forward to your macaroni and cheese recipe when you do a video on that. Regarding the pantry name, it seems many like the word “Victory” for its positive and optimistic outlook and I do, too. I know being “prepared” is an essential part of being a home connoisseur and living well. Prepper is taking from the word “preparation” and this may be a triggering word for some and not for others. I’m completely at ease with either one, “Victory Pantry or “Prepper Pantry” since I read the latter as “preparation” by choice. Perhaps, “Chic Pantry,” “Planned Pantry,” “Prepared Pantry” or “Ultimate Pantry” would be other ways to go. Whatever you decide, I still like looking in your pantry, because I always learn something that makes my life better. *smile*
I had never heard the term Victory Pantry until you said it in this video. I love the sound of it, but I tend to call mine our overflow pantry. I don't have an actual working pantry, I store my pantry items in my kitchen cupboards, so any time we have stuff that won't fit in those cupboards, stuff that overflows, I put it on shelves in the dining area. It's not pretty, but it's functional and it's allowing me to stock up during these interesting times.
Mexican here... never heard “victory pantry” before, so I’ll have to do some reading on this... currently working on a list of freezer and easy meals (due on October with baby number 5)... thank you for the meal ideas
Jennifer You do an excellent job with your meals for the week videos. There is nothing about them I would change! I cannot eat pasta but I have tried every recipe you have posted. There has not been one recipe we have not enjoyed. Thank you for all you do!
Hi Jennifer, I just started a prepper pantry, so I'm glad you covered this today. I barely have 2 weeks of extra food, and I'm still working on it. (Where to put everything is an ongoing question.). Here on the east coast we're facing a larger number of predicted hurricanes than usual. It's high time we stock up and think up about back-up power, heating, etc. I am leaning toward 'Victory Pantry'..! : )
I enjoyed your last video on the prepped/victory pantry. I too try to have an emergency food supply. I am in the process of identifying 14 meals that could be made, in large part, off the shelf, then trying to store items for those meals. My goal is to make one or two one or two of those meals a week to be sure to rotate my supply. If I use fresh ingredients like vegetables, I try to store dried veggies that could be used in emergency situations, that have a very long shelf life and are basically an insurance policy. For example, I keep ingredients on hand to make taco soup, but have beef tvp stored for an emergency.
Thank you for mentioning “Pea Soup Anderson’s”. I lived in San Diego for many years and ate at the one in Carlsbad many times. It was a wonderful reminder of that lovely restaurant. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Jennifer In the last couple of months I have started a prepper pantry of foods that my husband and I would eat anyway. We also started a square foot garden this past season that was mostly a fail :) because we put it in the wrong place. This weekend will be spent moving it to the other side of the yard. About a month ago I also purchased seeds from an heirloom seed company here in Ohio. This past summer all the hardware stores were sold out. Honestly I am feeling anxious about our country but am trying to prepare and stay calm.
I just found your vlog and love it! We too are working on our pantry. Since we make so much from scratch we bought 5 gallon food grade buckets to buy flour, sugar, rice, popcorn kernals (Friday night popcorn!), Almond Cow ingredients to make our milks, and so forth. Our goal is to keep 3 months worth of food and rotate forward as we purchase to replace what we use. Peace of mind going into this fall & winter.
Apple pies in perpetuity 😂 love you! I used to live near a restaurant supply place. I though they just had cookware, but I did always mean to check it out. Maybe there’s one near me now! And YES, I LOVE the scarf! Gorgeous!
I use the pizza crust recipe from the tightwad Gazette . 20+ years. You make dough in food processor. Flour , salt yeast olive oil. Slowly add warm water and let dough ball spin around to knead. Rest 10 minutes. Used to make every Friday night when kids still at home.
Oh yes! Anderson’s split pea! Love that place. We still stop at Paula’s Pancake house in Solvang for their delicious Belgian waffles:) 😋 what great meal ideas. Thank you Jennifer!
Best pizza dough: 2.5 c warm water, 1/4с sugar, 3 tsp active dry yeast, 1/4 с oil, 6 c flour, 2 tsp salt. Let mixer do the work. Let it raise, about 2 hrs. Spread it into greased 20x15 big pan or divide dough into 2 portions. Let it raise in the pan, another hour.
I always use Peter Reinhart's overnight pizza dough recipe from "The Bread Baker's Apprentice". I usually make a double batch because I have a large Kitchen Aid and then freeze what I don't immediately use. We built a very primitive pizza oven in our back yard and this dough is absolutely perfect for wood fired brick oven pizza. It works well on a pizza stone in my oven also.
Just got one of your books ❤ and we make Friday pizzas and I use a easy recipe.. 1 Package or 1 Tbs dry yeast 1 cup warm water 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon sugar 2 Tablespoons oil 2.5 cups flour Knee bread 5min than sit to rise I double and get 4. Medium pies out of it cook at 375 15 to 20m Enjoy
I love this bread machine pizza dough recipe from How Jen Does It. I have made it many times & it is so good. I think using bread flour makes a huge difference. 1&1/2 cups luke warm water. 1/3 cup sugar, 1tsp salt, 1/4 cup dried milk. 4 cups bread flour. 2tsp yeast. Select dough setting. Makes enough for 2 med/ large pizzas. Roll out and parbake before adding toppings.
i love Victory Pantry but i also like Prepper Pantry. i am so excited to watch the other videos you mentioned. i recently randomly found Mary's Nest and i love her channel. i dont remember you mentioning her before. i would love for you to do a video about your favorite homemaking channels!
I just planned out all of October! We have fun Halloween cookbooks that I used to help plan! so every day either dinner, dessert or a drink will be Halloween themed! It's so much fun! And I love shopping for the month! Always Adding a couple extra shelf stable items for emergencies! Love your channel and the food always looks so good!
Oh my, those ribs looked amazing as did the pastrami sandwich. Emmm emmmm good! All your meals looked really good. I like the term victory pantry and victory garden. It puts a nice spin on it. Thank you again for recommending me to your viewers.
I had only hear the term preper pantry but I like more how victory pantry sounds. I had slowly being building a victory pantry over the summer, since we moved and also for what ever may come this winter, better to be prepare!
I prefer victory pantry. To go along with victory garden! But really shopping for weeks at a time was just normal rural life for me as a kid, and as a busy mom, it still helps to keep a stockpile of things we use regularly. I like that you keep two different stocks, so to speak - the true emergency food plus the backup food that you will use up. Smart.
I'm in Canada and while the shelves weren't as empty as I saw in the US it was still a weird feeling. When I go to the store I now pick up 1-2 things to put away, but will definitely be doing a Costco trip soon.
Thank you for watching! If you enjoy my cooking videos, please give this one a thumbs up so I know to create more 🤗

I happened to find a Restaurant Depot near my town..it was the ONLY place I could find TP when the shortage started.
I like the term victory pantry. I made your French dips from your video last night and it was a hit! Thanks for doing these videos Jennifer:)
Great ideas, I am learning alot. Love your recipes, and meal planning.
Wonderful video. Thank you for the advice and the ideas.
Waoh that scarf is gorgeous on you
I prefer Victory Pantry because it reminds me of a Victory Garden and sounds hopeful.
Definitely has to be victory pantry! I love your Amazon storefront reccomendations and also your Amazon Lives ..will you be doing more?
Truly enjoyed this Jennifer. Thank you for sharing. Victory Pantry is nice. I have actually never heard this term before. I like it.
Hello! I stock shelf stable almond milk because of dairy sensitivity. Love your a Victory pantry!
You're such a good cook! ❤️❤️
Beautiful scarf and great with grey shirt.
Thanks for the meal ideas. I call it my Prepper pantry, but Victory pantry sounds sweet.
Your makeup has been on POINT 💄💋
You said hoagie roll and it made me smile because it's such an east coast Philly word and I've never heard it from the mouth of a Californian. 🥰
Jennifer You do an excellent job with your meals for the week videos. There is nothing about them I would change!
I cannot eat pasta but I have tried every recipe you have posted. There has not been one recipe we have not enjoyed.
Thank you for all you do!
That is so wonderful, Cathy! Thank you for letting me know!
Gorgeous!
I like the term "Victory" pantry .. .to me it sounds more positive!! :) Great tips today. Thank you!
The best!
Also, I always make it to the end of your videos! Wish they were even longer sometimes❤️
-Lydiya
Me too!
You look especially pretty today, Jennifer.
I logged in so I could say the same thing! I immediately was struck by how gorgeous she looks in this video! 💛
I prefer Pantry. all is needed in a regular home.
Hey Jennifer! I would love if you filmed some updated Le No Makeup looks. You look so pretty and polished and I'm loving your current makeup look =)
I like to purée my split pea and then top with crumbled bacon and crispy potatoes ! The air fryer would be perfect for the topping.
Thank you so much for the time stamps!! so helpful! I love these meal videos. They are really helpful during this pandemic.
Such a gorgeous scarf!
I’ve made several of your meals and it’s been so inspiring! My family has loved them! Thank you!
Just got one of your books ❤ and we make Friday pizzas and I use a easy recipe..
1 Package or 1 Tbs dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 Tablespoons oil
2.5 cups flour
Knee bread 5min than sit to rise
I double and get 4. Medium pies out
of it cook at 375 15 to 20m
Enjoy
I love this bread machine pizza dough recipe from How Jen Does It. I have made it many times & it is so good. I think using bread flour makes a huge difference.
1&1/2 cups luke warm water. 1/3 cup sugar, 1tsp salt, 1/4 cup dried milk. 4 cups bread flour. 2tsp yeast. Select dough setting. Makes enough for 2 med/ large pizzas. Roll out and parbake before adding toppings.
I prefer Victory Pantry!! I'm going to start using that to describe my pantry
i love Victory Pantry but i also like Prepper Pantry. i am so excited to watch the other videos you mentioned. i recently randomly found Mary's Nest and i love her channel. i dont remember you mentioning her before. i would love for you to do a video about your favorite homemaking channels!
Loving these meal planning videos Jennifer. So appreciated!
Smart.
I make my fire cider a lot. What I like about it, is there isn't a way to truly mess it up. I add a whole lot more stuff to mine.
I'm in Canada and while the shelves weren't as empty as I saw in the US it was still a weird feeling. When I go to the store I now pick up 1-2 things to put away, but will definitely be doing a Costco trip soon.
Love your makeup in this video! Thank you for including the links to what you are wearing you are amazing!!!
We always stopped and picked up the split pea soup when we drove from Oregon to Disneyland as a child 🥰. Reminds me of my childhood, too!
I like the foods you chose to make, seemed so filling and flavorful
Thank you!
Beautiful scarf! I love these meal prep videos. I’m planning on making the French Dip this weekend.
