I'm enlisting in the army and I'm hoping to get sent to Germany partially to go eat there. I'm originally Cuban and the styles are honestly very similar so I'm fucking stoked.
So you pretty much made Spontini's version of the Margherita. Super glad you are spreading this style to the US, I have it every time I'm in Milan and I think it is extremelly underrated.
Nah seem more like your typical family run construction company. But you seem to be asking a lot of questions, maybe they can make you some new shoes for you visit to the pier.
I lived in Italy for a few months actually near Milano for a bit as well... this pizza that they made here is nothing I came across in Milano... some similar pizzas sure but this is defiantly an American only pizza in my eyes. The northern style pizzas are typically very basic, but they aren’t heavy and doughy.. still got a bit of crispness and bite.. but al’dente ya know.. this shit is just boiled in its own grease..
idk why i read this comment in a mobster's accent and voice lol but it is true, thumbnail so good that it caused you to click on it and it's the evidence that it gave you an offer you can't refuse
These guys are adorable. I do think one of the best measures of success is being able to choose the people you work with on a daily basis. Glad they found each other.
My best friend is Italian, I lived there for 3 months, they eat some crazy shit. A lot of it is amazing, some of it, meh, thats coming from an Italian.
Mark Iacono is not the God or the best pizza maker in the world is just a pizza maker, you would probably have to say, I wonder what in Naples, Rome or Sicily or Milan they say about this.
Marc iocano maybe isn't a God but the series revolves around his opinion of pizza. If they've emulated a Milan style pizza, Italians are much more likely to be liking the pizza these guys offer
It's the first time I see an accurate italian pizza. I can confirm here in Milan the best pizza restaurants make something that looks identical to the one in the video.
You could try Spontini, they have restaurants a bit everywhere in milan. It's my favourite chain but of course it depends on taste. Their traditional pizza has a few anchovies in it, they also make a version without them which I prefer.
this style of pizza is called pizza al trancio (pizza by slice) and its the typical pizza here in milan..... u can find also normal round pizza like in other parts of italy
You know I've always wanted a pizza where the crust isn't super hard and with tons of sauce and cheese, and now I have found what I have been looking for for my whole life.
Came back from Milan, desperately trying to find this pizza in the States. Saw The Big Ragu was doing it but when I got to Williamsburg, it was closed sadly. Wish you guys would bring this back cause this is amazing pizza. Artichoke Basilies is their other flagship pizzeria, so check them out too. No Milan style pizza but great artichoke slices.
This place closed within the same year it opened and I will always miss it. I went maybe twice, I can still remember the taste, it was so fucking good, such a loss to NYC’s food scene
I agree, I have been to Milan several times and never seen anything like this there. But the guy above says we're wrong. What ever. This is NOT my style of pizza.
I really gotta check this place out. When I first moved to NYC in 2008, I slept on a couch a few blocks from where this pizza shop is in Williamsburg. I slept on that couch for 6 months before I got my own apartment in Bed-Stuy. I was paying $450 a month, just to sleep on a couch! Those were the days!! Haha!
There is no "Milan-Style" pizza, most Milan restaurants serve classic Neapolitan style pizza. This pizza is a copy of a popular pizza chain called spontini, it's pretty much the only place I have ever seen that kind of pizza made.
Trevor, Spontini is a chain about a style called "Pizza al Trancio", there were many pizzerie before many years ago using this style with higher quality than Spontini that now is actually pushed by marketing and is felt as the lone player. This kind of pizzerie al trancio were replaced other kind of low budget restaurants and food trends.
moritsuna yes! very specific! because there's no one in milan sell the same style of pizza, it's specificly spontini, even how they cut and served it, do some research actually wouldn't hurt.
I mean they said its ment to be like that. That's why it's not just called pizza. Plus us Americans like with many other things have twisted the meaning or identity of pizza. A true Italian pizza is nothing like ours.
1 of my 2 favourite styles... there was this restaurant in Milan where they only served lasagna Bolognese and pizza Margherita, 1 of the best things I've ever tasted.
I think they are just kidding around and emphasizing their accents a bit and having fun. I love these two together. When they are talking serious, they don't sound like goombas, IMO.
these are the most new york italians I have ever seen

One of the heaviest Italian-American, Brooklyn accents you can find. Hands down.

Yea I mean, that doesn't look like the mark of a real Italian. I'm sure its delicious. But pizza is a bit simpler than this example in my mind.
It is, got multiple meanings
