Way back in 2001 I had a Metro GTi 16v with a 1.8 VVC from an MGF in it. Few mods and lightened. Around 160bhp and 825kg or so. Rapid beast of a thing. Passed this bog standard looking Mk3 Astra Saloon one night and all I remember hearing was a turbo spooling up and the thing passing me like I was standing still. I floored it but had my doors well and truly blown off. 2.0 16v turbo, tuned to the teeth, sitting on 15 inch steels and wheel trims. No exterior mods whatsoever. A proper sleeper
Being a Southerner, I couldn't understand a lot of what was being said (and that's not a dig at Northerners or their accents, just different ears 😉), but I didn't need to, the car spoke for itself. One of the best sleeper builds ever, apart from being slightly lowered it's impossible to detect from the outside. Keeping the standard backbox was a stroke of genius. I love that he was more concerned with keeping it as stock as possible rather than it having mad power. The beaded seat covers and leaving the ripped and sagging headlining are hilarious touches. A lot of sleeper builders give the game away, but this wouldn't get a second glance. I bet there are a few shocked Corsa drivers up his way. 🤯Excellent job ! 👌👌👍👍
I had a mk 3 astra, ran it for 6 years, no power steering on mine as it was SI version, the traffic light freshener and the seat beads, brings it all back
I love this build, and his approach to originality. However I would suggest investing in a well sized exhaust system, but with good quality silencers to keep the noise and drone down. Awesome.
Vauxhalls were superb back in the days like. BTW, I have a brand new, in the box, 3 piece hydraulic clutch kit if the new owner wants to upgrade. Great video as usual mate.
I had a n reg 1996 1.8 16v sport estate in the blue that almost looked purple (i was envious of the yellownones) . It was bloody quick 115hp in a very light car. Didn't handle to well. It got replaced by a 2002 focus 1.8 tddi estate. The focus handling blew me away for an estate.
I know the lad that built the sport originally and it’s a proper nut and bolt inside and out restoration, the lad has owned and rebuilt many tasty Vauxhall’s over the years but the sport was one of his first cars many years ago and while he was trying to sell it the car was involved in a front end collision but he kept the car and always planned on pulling it apart and doing a full rebuild, but due to owning his own body shop that was primarily for modifying cars along with building a few cars of his own the sport was never able to get the time spent on it to do the work on it he wanted to do and despite trying to get it done in time for the sport’s 30th anniversary that was held at billing aquadrome in 2015 he did bring the car on a rolling spit and it was just freshly painted and looked amazing and it was clear that he had the vision of building it to a very high standard and as you can see he didn’t disappoint in any way, he finished the nova and used it for a while and then sold it on to make way for another project car 😎
What a brilliant build its just perfect all the way around I honestly don't think I'd change anything. Mint shell and those wheels just look the business and it's lowered just the right amount. Class build the perfect daily
Hi Adam got to love a fast estate lol F20YBT, I have only ever Had one vauxhall in my life and it was a mk3 astra 2.0 8v bertone Convertible, it was a one owner car with only 37,000 miles on it .I absolutely loved it .I only sold it as the lass and I started going camping regularly so it wasn't big enough I replaced it with an American ford explorer 🇺🇸
You just can't beat cars like this it's like when i were younger you had 1.3 escorts mk3/4 made-up to look like a xr31 then you had a standard looking 1.3 with a xr31 engine in it and that was the car i preferred a sleeper as you would say in todays day and age
Best bit about those is the extra pieces of grey trim on the tailgate and the red stip inlay. I knew a girl called Laura drove one of those around 1994

Now have a look at the South African only production of the Opel Kadett and Astra 200TS...same wheels, 2L Turbo "Red Top", 6 speed Gedrag gearbox, 5 door in hatch or sedan...first car in South Africa with a 6 speed manual gearbox...

Vaxhall man through and through, but 50mm drop it will drive like a bag of shit and littlrally no preload on those front springs looks to have stock shocks on also.

Great colour that. That pineapple alongside whatever that dark blue is the gsi came in, two best colours for this gen Astra.
