    Oh, what do you think of the "new and updated" title sequence=). I figure I add some 3D element to it.

    This drawing looks great. Even with the heavy textured paper. Great work! 👌👌

    Thank you for sharing this. It was a good learning experience for me, as I'm just experimenting with grey toned paper.

    I do see what you mean about the texture of the paper not being ideal for this drawing, but in another way, it's kind of cool because it reminds me of the old dot-matrix printer days. 8-) In any case, it's still a great drawing.

    I like the Strathmore toned gray and toned tan paper. The texture is smooth.

      Yeah, I should have used a smoother paper.

    Hey Wei try the Strathmore 400 series, toned gray, it has a smooth surface. I never like those heavy weight paper. I would of never thought of using a graphite pencil. Just a charcoal and charcoal white pencil. Thanks!

      +David K Hey David, yeah, I just bought that same series of paper, medium texture 400. It feels very smooth. I'll definitely use that next time. Also got a couple of white conte pencils. See what happens next time=).

    I think you should have used all charcoal. I got a charcoal pad and its heavy textured just like that gray tone paper you are using. I also got a gray tone book but its a lot smoother than the paper you using. I remember when I read the book Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, it said to set down a ground using a Graphite stick and use the eraser for highlights. And that technique has worked just fine for me.

      +Rain 008 I see. I think if I draw bigger, it would solve the detail problem. Thanks for the tip.

    Great drawing! Someone may have mentioned it already, but that paper would probably be better suited for charcoal pencil or vine charcoal. I've been working with a Nitram charcoal sticks lately and it's amazing. A very different experience from graphite though.

      @ArtofWeiHo  8 лет назад

      +Bryan Paulus Yeah, you're right. Charcoal is just so messy though. It's painful to remove charcoal from the table=).

    The tooth of that paper is way too heavy for graphite. I'm glad i watched this before buying. What's the reverse side of the paper like? Some paper manufacturers of this type of paper make the reverse side smoother for detailed work.

      Well, sorry for my lazy comment. I was in a hurry that day. What I was really trying to say is that I've seen how well generals charcoal 6b+generals white integrates to each other, to create perfect! gradations to a photorealistic level if that is intended. But considering you are trying to mix to "heterogeneous" components, the results that you showed on this video is amazing.

    This looks way too hard. Is there a point in choosing this heavy textured paper instead of one with a smoother surface?

    • @ArtofWeiHo
      @ArtofWeiHo  8 лет назад +2

      +cartoon80s90s It is a little harder for beginners. I chose the heavy texture because I just happen to have them=). Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't use them for this. Or at least draw a lot bigger to compensate for the heavy texture. I've just bought some smoother grey toned paper so I'll be doing more drawings with them.

    • @tanglebeard
      @tanglebeard 8 лет назад

      +Art of Wei Sometimes I turn the paper over and use the back of the heavy texture paper, as that is smoother and has less dimples.
